It was already one in the morning but Lexa couldn't sleep.

She was also hungry.

So Lexa grabbed the box of crackers lying on the dorm table and slipped outside to prevent her chomping from waking her roommate up.

Absently, the girl wandered to the lake and sat down by the waters' edge. Watching the endless waves, peering through their dark depths, blinking as the bright stars reflected on the thousands of ripples, Lexa considered how relaxing her life was now, compared to a year ago.

Tall, thin trees were swaying in the cool night air, and there was the occasional cry of a bird and sounds of animals scurrying through fallen leaves. Lexa could feel the shift of each breeze, not just the ones brushing past the grass and undergrowth, but that of the swift winds high up above.

From behind her, there came a rhythmic padding of soft footsteps.

Once it was of no difficulty finding something to eat, providing you knew where to look. Travens and bars were popular places to dine at, unlike today. The school here had very little activities going on during the hours of the night, which made finding cuisine a chore.

Savannah wasn't particularly hunger, but she had a craving to eat at least. That alone was enough to drive her out of her dorms and into the night. So where to look? The kitchens were off limits, but that was only a last resort.

So she would hunt out the other students that were not asleep. If there was one thing Savannah learned quickly, it was that the students here were vast. Some of them nocturnal.

The lakes were quiet with a warm serenity that surrounded it. You could mostly hear your own footsteps brush along the ground and through the grass. Her eyes were soon drawn to a figure by the lake, followed by a brief smell of what could be determined as food?

Based on what little information she had Savannah decided to approach the person.

"It is much a relaxing night yes?" Was the fox girls opener.

Lexa turned to find a girl standing a little way off. She had startling eyes of bright crimson, and Lexa stared curiously into them before replying automatically. <font color="a71f1f">"Oh hello. Good, uh, morning."</font>

Only then did Lexa take in the rest of the girl's appearance. She appeared to be just a few years older than Lexa herself, and had an unusually delicate, regal poise. Something shifted behind the smooth, billowy cloth of her garments, but it blended in so well in the deep shadows of the undergrowth that Lexa couldn't tell what it was, or if she was just seeing things.

Figuring that the girl, like her, probably had time to kill, Lexa patted a spot on the thick grass beside her. <font color="a71f1f">"Come and sit."</font>
