Ah - she'd been caught. She DID in fact have a few games hidden away on her phone, as well as a DS she had brought with her to the island - probably lost and forgotten in her studies. Not that she was going to tell him all of that. Besides, she hadn't played a real game since she'd died.
"I suppose. When it comes to learning, it's important to be invested in your studies. Like me." Her pride about her work ethic was showing through, she was sure of it. And, ell, she had a right to. Her grades were all very good - 90% and up. At least, she hoped they stayed that way. "I..." Am a fan of PC games? "... Don't really play games all that much." Anymore. "Your last class is a Powers class, you said. Correct?"

"And your level of dedication is admirable," Raphael spoke, rather casually. He didn't say it for any reason, it was just something that came to mind which he didn't realize he'd said aloud. If Aswan was looking in his direction when he'd said the words, his eyes were elsewhere --looking around them for landmarks for navigation. "There honestly hasn't been a lot of things I've invested myself on to be honest. I'm a bit flaky on that department," he even admitted.

On another note. "Anyway, I'm not all surprised if you don't get to play, what with your extra classes. I can only imagine how much time that takes out of your day," he prattled on. "But yeah. Last class is Powers, yep. I honestly don't know how that would go."

Aswan chuckled. "Thank you. I AM dedicated to my work. Although, it does take up a lot of time." She nodded distractedly. "And you have to take care of yourself, invest in yourself. If not, how will you function properly?" Aswan had no idea she was being such a hypocrite - she wrote non-stop.
"Your powers class will probably be fine."

Raphael let out distant chuckle at Aswan's decisive response. It was an enviable amount of pride for her work, but Raphael couldn't find it in himself to imagine himself in her place. Her next words caught him off guard just a bit and lost his beat for a second before going into a fit of chuckles. "No, no, I think you didn't hear me right, I mean to say--" he paused to breathe, "I mean to say, I haven't really focused on any activity my whole life. I don't really dedicate my time to anything -- except I guess a few times like when Dragon Age Inquisition came out and I was barely at school since I was focused on finishing the game -- anyway. My point is: I do take care of myself. I just never had an interest in most things to have a life," he said resisting to scoff as he finished his words.

He sighed after a beat, chuckling nervously before he spoke again. "I didn't even learn much about my powers to even know what powers class would be like."

Oh. It was a social need, rather than an essential need. Whoops. The smile she gave had a sheepish tone. "Ah. I must have misunderstood. I've had times like that - for instance, when -" she paused for a split second, then switched what she was going to say - "um, when I arrived with a fever in Civics three years ago. I could focus on nothing." She chuckled. "That doesn't happen as often now. And classes are, quite frankly, very interesting here - in particular the Powers classes!" Her eyes lit up as she began to ramble. "Oh, the Powers classes! I have never taken one, up to date, that's scheduled for next semester, but i've observed a couple and, WOW. It was very illuminating. There is o much to learn, to explore...." And she just kept on rambling on and on. It was obvious she was excited.

Oof. Shit, that sheepish look was cute. Quick, gotta look at something else. Raphael diverted his gaze for a moment as Aswan talked, though his attention was still on her. It at least distracted him away from thoughts unrelated to the topic. "Oh yeah, I know about going to class sick. Sometimes I get this constant headache when I let my powers active for a few hours and it never goes away until it shut off my powers. God, it's one of the terrible choices I make within a week, I tell you. But it gets really irritating when I don't so I have to live for at least once a week or I lose my mind from it."

Raphael only managed to sneak that reply when she'd paused after then he decided to let her have the mic as she rambled on about powers classes. His eyes were on her this time, watching her with an amused smile on his face as she talked animatedly. He couldn't place if it was really actually that interesting or it might have been just an Aswan thing to be so excited about. Then again, it was powers class: it could be anything. It was so cute listening to her ramble on though. Okay, we're stopping that train of thought right there.

He let her ramble on a bit more until she herself voluntarily stopped. The smile hadn't left him yet. "By the sounds of it; I'm probably going to have some fun things to learn about," he said. As if in a moment of brilliance, he snapped his fingers thoughtfully. "Hey what do you say, you could trying observing my class one time? We could both go after World History; you could probably sit in class with me if you want to."

"!!!! I? Get to sit in?" Aswan's glance snapped up to Raphael's face, eyes alight. "That would be splendid!" Then she realized. She'd been rambling on... again. An embarrassed smile spread across her lips. "Erm... I mean... Ahem. What I meant to say was, a powers class s-seems appropriate." She said, fighting to remain composed. Next subject, next subject! "Hmm. Headaches. Yes. I experience them from time to time, usually when I use my power for a length of time without rest. But that is only logical." A smile. She couldn't believe she'd ranted. Again. Then again, it was a Powers class - what wasn't to like? Just the thought of sitting in on a class made her smile. Especially a class in which she could learn about the one thing she didn't know much about - her powers.

If anyone could see in Raphael's little mindscape, they'd find a visual representation of him curling forward, clutching at his chest, probably hissing because how could she be so cute??. None of such things appeared on his face though; he was beaming and his smile showed more laughter when Aswan turned to look a little embarrassed. It wasn't so much as a snicker; it was honestly really nice seeing the life in her eyes, giving it a certain glow that made her smile contagious. "Well, I'd say you'd like powers class either way," he said almost slightly teasingly.

"Mine's really not limited to headaches to be honest. Every time my powers are active, I'm really just somewhere feeling sick. It gets worse on some days but they're... manageable. I can understand having pains from using up your powers too much but mine's honestly ridiculous!" he told her. Curiously, Raphael leaned a bit close to her, "Say, you never did mention your powers, did you?"

Aswan gave a curt little nod, still smiling, although it was fading now and becoming her usual sharp expression. "Indeed I would - again, it would be a learning opportunity." With all the different - NO, stop, she chided herself. Ahem. Hearing Raphael describe his experiences with his powers, though - it must have been painful. Horribly painful - and suddenly he was up close. Surprised, Aswan took a couple of steps backwards. "My powers? Oh. Yes, they're quite interesting. I only have one specific 'power', to be accurate - however, since I am now a ghost, i have many species abilities." There it was again - that smile, albeit sharp too. Less so, but still.... "Up to-date, I have discovered I have the ability to pass through objects and sometimes people, and I also have the ability to make myself and one object invisible for a period of time." She seemed quite proud of herself for that one. She couldn't remember anything else at the moment - but of course that would be admitting she didn't know much. So.. she kept that to herself.

"Mm, right, extra ghosts powers then?", Raphael hummed. He was curios about it; he's never really encountered ghosts in his life, but what was 15 years compared to experiencing the whole world around him, really? He didn't seem to notice the sharpness of Aswan's expression, seemingly already used to it to pay any concern to it.

He gave a thoughtful nod. Sounds like ghost powers, yeah. Although he sometimes wondered what ghost default is like. Are they naturally visible like this? Are they intangible? Or do they have to work something out first to be seen by people? Or is it some... case to case basis depending on what ghost they are? Are there other types of ghost? He'd heard of poltergeist and revenants but that's all he knew from movies and games. He had no idea how the real thing worked. Questions, questions...

Before he got lost in his train of thought, he kicked himself back into reality and focused his attention on Aswan. "Sounds pretty useful, if you ask me. Are they the kind that you need focus on to happen or is it more of actually controlling them for your own use?"
