Michael Ashworth would say that he was doing this for overtime pay. And they'd believe him! But what people didn't know was that overtime pay was negligible, and he lived in a fucking mansion, goddamn it. He just like teaching, both the part where he got to guide students to be better versions of themselves, and the part where he laughed at their rookie mistakes. Besides, show and tell was a huge change of pace. He was getting sick of looking at med students wearing the same polo-khaki combo going into his class day in and day out.

Now that everyone was here, he seated himself behind the desk — terribly informal, with his legs resting on the table. "So the school thought Show and Tell would be a great group activity." He laughed. "That's why we're here! And we're gonna crush those bastards in the other team. 'Cause that's what this is about. Winning. Alright, hmm, Pollyanna, Lilly, James and Destin, yeah? How about we say something about ourselves? I'll start. I'm Michael Ashworth. Doctor, if you will. Well, I'm an MD and I'm a licensed surgeon. I've got a handful of jobs here and there, mostly because I like money. My husband's the Boogeyman... aaand my drink of choice is tequila. Fun fact, I am sober right now. Who wants to go next?"

Lilly...

Live cringed as she heard her name first name slip through the air. If there was one thing she hated in this world it was her birth name. She did her best to make sure everyone called her Live but there was always someone who said Lilly because they didn't know or didn't care. She wasn't sure which one this Ashworth guy was but she would find out soon enough.

Interestingly though, if Dr. Ashworth hadn't screwed up Live's name she wouldn't have spoken up as quickly as she did.

"My name is Live, please and thank you." She said shifting in her seat slightly, the displeasure clear in her voice; the pleasantries were clearly just for emphasis. Live did her best to display as few emotions as possible except when someone made her upset. She had no problem expressing that. "I'm only here to get leniency on detention for uh, a few incidents.."

Live was a problem student to say the least. She talked back to teachers constantly and it wasn't uncommon for her to get in fights with other students. She didn't really start the fights; she was just very easily provoked. Anger issues were definitely a thing.

James listened silently as the teacher spoke and listed off the gathered students, in truth James wasn't sure why he volunteered for this, he was a bit scared of using his powers at times, after all he only had them because he had a homicidal entity latched onto his soul. THAT'S RIGHT BOY! ALL THAT POWER IS MINE! YOUR GOING TO DIE AND I WILL DEVOUR YOUR SOUL!. James ignored the Shadow, silently grateful that only he could here the parasite.

He mentally groaned as he asked the students to say something about himself, in truth there wasn't much to say, he was a clean slate, he had never been allowed to live and develop as he pleased until this island, and he wasn't in any hurry to share the details of his past.

As he contemplated what to say a single small shadow tentacle emerged from his shoulder and slowly waved back and forth with his thoughts, it was a very odd thing that occasionally happened when he was thinking.

Michael gestured at Live. "Looking to get out of detention! That's smart, girlie. You know, back in the day, we just sucked up to teachers and did bad things under the bleachers. Of course... my generation knows to look there now. So, care to share what's up with your powers? Maybe tell us your favorite colors?" He scrunched his nose. "It's black, isn't it?"

He pointed at James. "You! What about you? After you, let's have Polly and Destin introduce themselves. How about that?"

James inwardly sighed as he was chosen to introduce himself next, the Shadow was of course laughing its ass off in the back of his mind, he ignored the entity and stood to address the class.

"My name is James and...well what I have this," he gestured to the small shadow tentacle, "its a entity that accidentally latched itself onto me," he actually really hated the Shadow, but the powers it grants him were useful. "Now in my normal human form I can only use one tentacle, but I can shift into another form, in which my strength is increased, I heal faster, I can use up to ten tentacles and I can teleport."

With his powers explained he took his seat again, he wasn't going to tell the class anymore than that at the moment.

Live narrowed her eyes at Dr. Ashworth's words. "It resonates with my soul." She retorted to his comment about favorite colors. Her tone was stoic enough that it would be left up to the listener to figure out if she was being sarcastic or not.

"I'm a Shadow Walker meaning I can connect with the Shadow Realm with greater ease than the average human. I manipulate shadows, transform into them, and travel through them. I can also perform demonic summonings." She locked eyes with Dr. Ashworth, "Yah know, real dark shit."

She was here on her own accord.

After spending what was probably her whole life using her powers in emergency and private situations, Pollyanna was ready to show herself off to the island. Or at least, whoever would show up.

She was in line to introduce herself to the group gathered. She had made notes with her current allies, who hoped she could befriend eventually. Already though it seemed some gathered here reluctantly, so they may be a bit harder to companion. Still, her perpetual optimism kept her afloat during this time. She was excited to perform a routine, and was looking forward to stretching her wings.

When Michael had gotten to her after the others, she chirped up immediately. "Oh, I’m Pollyanna! You guys can call me Polly though! Um… Let’s see… I like to paint and draw and my favorite color has to be either light pink or purple." She had more to say, after all once she started it was hard to get herself to stop. "I’m also a mutant that can make myself appear like, 60-ish percent bat. It’s not much, but I can fly and use echolocation! It’s great to meet you all!"

Hopefully, the feeling would be mutual.

Michael giggled a bit as Live told her her powers were real dark shit. "Right, right. My husband's the boogeyman, girlie. It'll take way more than shadowbending to spook me. I think you'd like him."

Whoa. Everyone here was all kinds of edgy. Pollyanna was a welcome change, smiling at her as she went along. Michael wrote their powers on a piece of paper, trying to look for a common thread. "Alright, shadowbending, tentacle powers, and bat. What about you, Destin? What have you got in your bag of tricks?"

Destin grinned. Well, that was as good an introduction as any. He flipped off his hat and bowed, a white rabbit peaking it's nose out of his hat.

"Destin Eaves, master of stage magic. The real stage magic, mind you. I won't be doing parlour tricks, but I do have a specialty in slight of hand."

Destin twirled his hat and the white rabbit disappeared. The young man delicately placed his rather tattered old top hat back on his head.

"The real magic won't work on living animals, but that's what stage magic is for, no?"

Destin sneezed, then opened his palms to reveal a gold coin. He tossed that through the air to Michael, where it became a bottle cap. Reaching into his coat, Destin resumed talking.

"Of course, not all this is exactly my power, but it's still handy and easy to adjust. Y' can do just about anything with this."

Speech finished, Destin sat down, pulling the white rabbit out of his coat and letting it sit on his lap.

Tentacle guy wasn't too bad. At least he had some kind of possession, that was something she could understand. It also seemed to be some kind of a shadow entity. Live's sense for things of a darker nature was keener than average. I mean, when your soul is mostly shadow demon it makes it pretty easy to sense when something is comprised of darkness. She really wanted to ask him about it but she also didn't want to appear interested in anything going on. It was Live's goal to appear as detached as possible from this whole situation.

Pollyanna had a cool power but way too chipper for Live's liking. Destin was, well, he was the hardest to form an opinion about so far. He was strictly speaking very attractive but he seemed so showy that he was almost more annoying than Pollyanna. He was the only one to actively demonstrate his power instead of just explain it, which said a lot about him.

She looked back at Dr. Ashworth. Even though Live tended to be one of the most disrespectful and snarky people, she had a thing about calling adults by the proper name. Even thinking of a teacher's first name just felt wrong to her. Maybe it was because she was raised in the south...

"Well, now that is over with..." Live said under her breath. She wasn't trying to rush things along or anything but she really just wanted to get the hell out of there.

Live was chronically late for class. Literally, every morning she showed up to school at least an hour late, sometimes even two or three hours. When the school finally realized that nothing would be getting her in to class any earlier, they finally just resorted to assigning her detention for two to three hours every single day. She sometimes was even kept at school until sunset. Her understanding had been that being involved with this Show and Tell bullshit would get her out of that detention for a while and take up less of her time.
