Name: Ashley Colchester
Age: 17
Birthday: November 19th
Gender: Male. He/His.
Species: Human/Gifted
Category: Student.
Class: High School
Grade: Junior/11th grade
Appearance Description: Ashley is thin in build and stands around 5'10 with a more pale complextion. He has very dark hair like his mother and dark eyes like his father. His nose is a little larger than average and he has full lips.
Personality Description: Ashley Colchester, in short, is a geek. He lacks social mannerisms that come naturally to almost everyone else, partially due to the fact that he often gets bullied on a regular basis. When he was a child, he was diagnosed with Social and stressed induced anxiety, which lead to an unmistakable stutter. Should someone take the time to break down the wall he's built around himself, they would discover a kind boy with a passion for music and a hell of a talent for the violin.
Active Abilities: Pyrokinesis. Ashley has the “ability” to make fire with his mind. I used quotations because it's not really an ability so much as something that happens when his emotions get all out of whack or he is experiencing something that makes him uncomfortable. The fact that he suffers hardcore from Anxiety just makes it worse.
Passive Abilities: Along with his pyrokinetic ability, his body can withstand great temperatures.
Weaknesses: N/A for now
Common Magical Items: Not that I can think of.
Biography: At the young age of seven, Ashley(Ash for short) started getting mercilessly bullied by the bigger kids because he was quite small and kids can be assholes. Several times a week, his father would clean up his bloody noses and scrapes from being pushed to the ground, and Ash begged his father to hide this from his mother, because he knew how protective she could get. Not only that, but the last thing he needs is his mother showing up at the school and getting him even more attention. The only thing he wanted now was to disappear. Unfortunately, that never happened.
It was inevitable that his mother would one day find out about what was going on at school. One day, she came home early from work to his father cleaning up yet another bloody nose. It's not like he would be able to hide the new shiner he had, anyway. His mother raised hell. She scolded him for not telling her. She scolded his father for not telling her. He was her son, shouldn't she have a right to know that her baby was getting his butt kicked at school? She switched between then for what seemed like an eternity, and the tension was as thick as peanut butter. Ashley felt like he was getting a headache. The tension and the shouting began to make him cry. He closed his eyes tight and he covered his hears and sobbed just as the kitchen drapes burst into flames.
That was the first incident. Things became more and more frequent, but they never happened outside the house. After a while, his mother and father knew that it was their son causing all the fires. He still got picked on at school, but ever since his mother screamed at everyone in the front office of the High School, the jerks at school backed off for quite a while, because they knew they were being watched more heavily than before by the staff.
One day, he got cornered one his walk home by the same jerks who had always tortured him. They grabbed him and they dragged him behind a dumpster and started beating him. He had his breath knocked out of him again and again, rendering him unable to call out for help. He felt a headache coming quickly, and just as the last blow landed, the largest boy's shirt burst into flame. The boys backed off, now focused on the boy who was on fire and focused on putting him out. Ashley got his breath back and ran all the way home. He told his parents what had happened with a shaking voice and eyes full of tears. Within a week, the whole school knew what had happened... or at least what the boys had told them. It wasn't long before they got a visit from a strange man about an island.
Resources: I suppose the best thing that Ash would have access to is knowledge and books. He's a smart kid with a love of books. I'm thinking about having him work part time in a book shop if possible.
His family didn't come with him to the island. He thought it would be easier for them if he went alone, but that probably won't stop his mother from writing furiously every day and trying to visit whether it's possible or not.
Additional Information: Not that I can think of.
