"Waddles come here! Come to me! Come on come to me! Waddles? Waddles!" Amber pats the ground in front on her, encouraging the turtle to come to her but seems quite content to remain unmoved from his spot. Letting out a sigh, Amber pulled a chunk of a peach from zip lock bag and placed it in front of her. The treat got an immediate reaction as the turtle looked up and toddled as fast as his stubby legs can carry him.

"Good boy Waddle! Whose my good lil handsome turtle~ Yes you are!" praised Amber as she picks Waddles up from the floor and returns him bake into his glass tank to snack on his peach in peace. She smiled and awed at how adorable and messy of an eater waddles was.

"Alright now time to- hrmm?" Amber caught eye eye of what looked to be a postcard or something tucked behind the tank. Pulling out she realized there was photograph and turned it over, surprised to see it was picture of her and her sisters on Pandora's back back whey they could all fit. It has been a while since she last saw this photo and honestly thought she had lost it few years back. Rubbing her thumb over the familiar face of her mother's face, she grimaced: so much has changed. Pandora left... Phaedra was gone... Ossa was who knows where. The only person still around was Dalia she most of all had changed the most.

Dalia hadn't spent a lot of one-on-one quality time with Amber in a while. That was mostly her own doing; there was a lot going on in her head all the time and she didn't want to push all of that onto Amber when her sister seemed to be doing so well.

But she couldn't just ignore her forever, and more importantly she didn't want to. Dalia was an affectionate person by nature, and everyone she cared about gave her a slightly different spark of warmth.

Amber was no different in this regard, and so with her afternoon free, Dalia stopped outside her sister's bedroom door. She paused, considering if she should barge right in, but thought better of it. She might startle Waddles, and she didn't want to do that and start things off bad.

So she knocked much more gently than usual before opening the door. "Heeeeeey, Amber. Whatcha up to...."

Dalia saw the photo and immediately had to hide a frown. She remembered taking that one, and more vividly rememered burning her copy of it after it was clear that Pandora and Phaedra weren't coming back.

Amber jumped a bit and accidently let go of the photograph. She tries to catch the photo in mid-air but it falls but fumbled, succeeding in only knocking it down by Dalia's feet as she stood in doorway clearly in view.

"D-dalia! You startled me." she admitted while sheepishly collecting the photograph and hiding in her person, pretending as though it didn't exist.

"Yeah so... I... well I just put Waddles back in tank after having his allotted "turtle time" for the day. It important that he get some time out of his tank to run around... not that he was practically active today. Kind of a lazy butt actually." explained Amber putting on a smile. She didn't dare want to discuss the photograph, knowing it was still a very sore subject for her sister... along with the rest of the household.

"So... what are you checking on me for? Did you... need something? You have been..." Amber had to think of the right word to say before hesitantly settled with "... busy. So what's up?"

Busy. That wasn't really the right word, but it was good enough for the distance that Dalia had put between them recently. Outwardly, she'd been as affectionate as she'd always been, but this was where it had really been obvious - quality time together. She smiled, a tight expression as she stepped over the photo and crouched onto the floor next to Amber.

"You know," she said with a shrug, picking at one of the fresh scabs that she'd gotten from scraping herself up at a fight club meeting, "I just realized we haven't... I like, officially officially met Nathan the other day and I dunno..."

Dalia trailed off, not so much embarrassed as she was just ashamed of herself. For all her talk about how much she cared about the people that she loved, she'd kept the one she loved the most at arm's length out of some selfish...

"I just wanted to spend time with you, I guess. If you're busy, that's fine. I just figured..."

"Oh you met Nathan?" piped up Amber with mild surprise, overlooking how gross it was that Dalia was picking at her scabs "I was hoping to one day introduce you both to each other but... I dunno it never came up I guess. Well... what do you think of him?"

Amber could have had arranged such a meeting much earlier but... honestly she always been too embarrassed and worried what her family would think even though the two of them been dating for about a year now. At least now she wouldn't have to worry about making that introduction now which was a strange relief for her. Though Dalia being here in her room right now... made her wonder was going on in her head.

"Busy? On no not all all. I always have time for you sis." assured Amber as she scoots herself to Dalia on the floor. Though Amber smiled, her intuition told her that something was up "Sooo... what did you want to talk about? I know that look on your face of when you want to say something but not sure how say it."

Amber did know Dalia better than most anyone else did. Better than Malara or Alexis, even. With a shrug she leaned back onto the floor, laying her head next to Amber and staring up at the ceiling. "Nothing gets past you, huh? You're a regular detective. I mean, there wasn't anything super specific at first, but..."

How to say this? Dalia's own feelings about Phaedra and Pandora were steeped in gross feelings that she knew would never really go away. Feelings that, regrettably, she could detect bubbling just under the surface whenever she looked at Amber with her shiny black carapace. With a sih she just kind of blurted it out.

"I wanted to just come and hang out, but... why do you have that picture? I mean... they... left us..." Dalia's words trailed as she spoke, what little confidence she had slipping quickly between her fingers like sand. She didn't know if Amber knew everything about why she hated Phaedra so much. Pandora was easy to explain, but Phae had a lot of baggage that Dalia didn't know if she was ready to confront again.

There was a sinking feeling in heart as Dalia question why she had that old photograph on her. There was a pain in her sister's voice and this was the exact situation Amber had hoped to avoid.

"H-honestly... I thought I lost it. But-" but what she would ask herself? Holding out for the day they come back? They all come home they can act like a normal happy family once again? She knew it was all but impossible yet she still held out hope that would come back. Or rather the coming back the way she used to remembered them.

"Well... someone in this household has to remember them. Everyone else would rather just forget about them or erase them out of their lives like they never existed. But I... I just don't want to let go... "
her voice trailed off, her gaze turning to the mirror in her room.

"I can't let go... even if I wanted to. When people look at you they know that you are Malara's kid. When people look at me... they usually just see Pandora and Pandora only. Even when I point out the differences, I can't help but agree with them whenever I look in that mirror."

As Amber hangs her head, staring at the floor, a frightening realization came to her: a possibility that Dalia has avoided her because she looked so much like Pandora and Phaedra?

"Is that... why you been ignoring me? Do I... remind you too much of Pandora and Phaedra that it hurts you?"

"No!"

Dalia was quick to respond, her hair frizzing up with static electricity as she shifted positions almost automatically to be on her knees in front of her sister. She didn't look hurt, but the expression was close enough to it to call it that. "I mean..."

She sighed and shifted again, hugging her knees to her chest. Dalia was always like that - always moving. It was like she couldn't sit still since she'd changed again. Since her extra limbs and arms had gone away and left her... nothing. The words that Destra had said to her still stung when she thought about them, even though she'd promised herself that she didn't really care.

"It's not... I can't forget, Amber. I can never forget what she did to me. I never really... told you. Chloe and Mal know but I never wanted you to- Phaedrea... when she was... she took..."

She couldn't say it. Even just trying to form the words made Dalia want to vomit. A bit of red leaked into her iris, like a burst blood vessel overtaking the green briefly. And then it shrunk back as she realized what was happening. "I know how you feel though. People still look at me like I'm just a copy of Malara. Even Thaniturge calls me Torling..."

Tentatively, Dalia reached out and took Amber's hand in her own.

"But we're not like them," she continued, a cold edge underneath the fragility in her voice. Like the surface of a frozen lake spiderwebbing out from a misstep. "You especially. You're... the sweetest, most considerate person I know, sis. You wouldn't..." another hesitation. And then she just shook her head, unable or unwilling to continue that line of thought.

Amber's entire body jolted in place, taken aback by Dalia's resounding no. All she could do was stare in stunned silence as her sister's hair frizzed and sparked with energy. Just as it looked like tempers would flare Dalia, hugged her legs close as she let out a defeated sigh. Pity soon turned to concern for her sister as she was about to say something about Phaedra but Dalia choked on her words before she could finish.

"What did she-" Amber stopped herself there, seeing the how physically ill her sister looked when with even just the thought of saying what she wanted to say out loud.

Amber instead choose to just listen as Dalia spoke about how she was frustrated too by looking more like Malara. Listen to her speak about all the nice things that she was before suddenly stopping.

"That I wouldn't... what?" implored Amber with palpable concern, holding Dalia hand and gently stroke it with her thumb

Dalia shivered at the touch, but sighed and shifted so that she was sitting with her knees to her chest. She regretted even starting to bring up what had happened between her and Phaedra - what Phae had done to her. Now Amber would be curious. She would want answers that Dalia didn't want to give her. For her own sake.

"She hurt me... bad. Worse than Jax did," she mumbled, touching the place on her shoulder where the massive scars from her ex-boyfriend's claws had rent her years ago started. "She told me she loved me, and-"

Tears welled up at the corners of her eyes and she scrubbed violently at her face with the hand that Amber wasn't holding. Red streaks lined her cheeks from her fingernails, but she didn't seem to mind. "It was bad," was all she bothered to say more on the matter. "So you just... you have to trust me... when I say you... you're nothing like them."
