Had he been here long? Not really by most people standards but seeing as the other boy had said he had only been around about a week he guessed by comparison he had. "I've been here a few months was a huge shock to me as well." Steven replied before looking over towards the dummy in respone to Aaron's question, it made him think about it for a moment. "Oddly not very long, they are pretty easy to use really. The hard part is coping with the side effects and fine control rather then power." Steven explained.

It actually was and interesting thought, now that Steven was thinking about it. Steven though of himself as a meta-human or like a mutent from comic books. However in truth he knew nothing about the origin of his powers. He could easily eliminate things like relationsion to magical beings, but the science behind the way the powers worked escaped him.

Aaron kind of stared off into space for a moment at Steven's comments then nodded slowly almost to himself. Side effects and control were definitely his main issues too. Although sometimes it seemed like his anger caused the transformation rather than the other way around. And the bad memories transforming brought up were caused by how he had discovered his power rather than being an effect of the power itself.

Still, it did make the boy curious. But he wasn't sure if it would be rude to ask Steven what his side effects were when he was deliberately being so vague about his own powers. The other boy did seem more open about it than he was, though, and he had already seen the boy's fire and ice, so it wasn't like the other boy was shy about his powers. He laughed a little, "Your powers got side effects ot'er t'an setting t'ings on fire?"

He noted Steven said he'd also been shocked, although he wasn't sure whether the other boy meant by the island itself or by his powers. He knew better than to ask about the history of someone he'd just met, but he did wonder, "So yer 'uman too, is ya?"

Steven wasn't sure how he felt about answering the questions being asked, there was however something about some asking them in such an overt accent that made their owner feel more authentic. He supposed there was no real harm in replying. "There are some, nothing really harmful though but I can act somewhat out of character if I end up over using them. Can lead to me making a fool out of myself, which isn't that great." Steven explained to Aaron, it was still a little vague but the smart sort of person probably could have figured out how from his change in temperment during the conversation, was fitting with the temperature of the powers being used.

It was the second question though that was the most interesting of the pair. "Yeah I'm human at least human enough." Steven started but then paused, thinking to himself. "But being a slinger of frost and flames isn't what I'd call a natural part of the human condition." Steven finished through the thought, still wondering to himself about the true cause. He knew magic existed now but didn't see how his powers could have such an origin. That left something else, likely genetic in some way but wasn't sure how human you could call a person that genetic mutation gave such powers.

Steven had been about to start talking to himself as he got lost in the thought due to the questions, but was shaken from it by the sudden loud ringing of the school bell. "Sorry but I need to be somewhere, but maybe we can chat again sometime. Less flying fire, more food or something." Steven apologised before taking off dashing from the gym. The teacher shouting that he hadn't said they could go yet, but Steven ignored it and kept runnin, waving over his shoulder in goodbye to the other boy.
