Oh thank God. Perfect. Kali will suddenly feel like she has been connected to something. Moments later Ruby's voice echoed in her head.
"Thank you. I'm still trying to understand English and this psychic link helps me with that. In a few days this shouldn't be a problem anymore."

He relaxed more in the chair.
"Back to business. I'm here for a position as an escort if possible. I have some experience in the field but I can't supply any form of resume."

Being used to her brother "popping" into her mind, often uninvited, Kali was not uncomfortable with the intrusion. And when Ruby mentioned not being able to provide a resume, the madame suddenly burst out laughing.

"Ruby, Mr. Marz," she corrected herself. "I'd be more than suspicious if you did have a resume," she admitted to him mentally.

"Few people in this industry ever do. Personally, I have only seen a few letters of recommendation in my time here, and even those had me raising an eyebrow," she confessed, trying not to laugh again.

Then more seriously.

"If you want a job here, that's fine by me. I assume you know what you are getting yourself into already. However, just to let you know, you will be on trial for two weeks, with pay, of course, just to see how you fit in here at the Wolfsbane." Kali explained calmly, talking to Ruby with her mind.

There was a brief moment of confusion when Kali started laughing. For a moment he thought he probably would have to look for a job somewhere else.
Ruby relaxed and chuckled a bit once Kali had composed herself.

He just smiled as he waved dismissively. "Ruby is fine but you can also call me whatever you want."

"I only mentioned it because I wasn't aware on how things are done here. So that's perfect."

He wasn't surprised at this two week trial thing she mentioned. This was a respectable establishment so it made sense. Plus it was with pay, that was already good.
"A two week trial is fine. I still have a few questions about the job though."

"I'm assuming after this two week trial I can set my own hours? Part of the reason I came here was mostly for a part time position. Just something to make easy money on the side while I get adjusted to this island."

Kali listened to Ruby calmly and then nodded her head. "You can effectively set your own hours. However, you will be required to work, at least, one 8-hour shift on the weekend and a day during the week."

"The weekend is our busiest time so I need everyone to pitch in," she explained matter-of-factly. "You will also need to submit your hours two weeks beforehand so we can schedule accordingly."

"Oh, and in the future, you might be requested by clients, regulars who pay well for the privilege of your company, on your off day, so I hope you will do your best to accommodate them if that happens?" Kali asked, her tone serious since clients who became regulars were very important to their business.

"Hm, these a reasonable. I do not have a problem with those requirements."

There was also having to submit his own hours ahead of time. Ruby was fine with that too. He would have preferred if there was some type of automated system but that's just asking for too much huh?

"I am fine with all of this. I'll be sure to make time for any regulars and obtaining them. I'm really good at pleasing people and I think I can attract a certain kink." He smiled as his tail waved slowly back and forth behind him.

"Speaking of pay, what is the percentage of the cut you are taking?"

At Ruby's question about money, Kali nodded. The way the Wolfsbane did business was not too uncommon from other upscale establishments in the sex industry. However, many who started working there rarely, especially if they came from beyond the Veil, had had little contact with those high-class establishments.

"First off, there is a price list. Every session has a different price depending on the desires of each customer," Kali began, crossing her legs as she talked. "Secondly, the client always should pay beforehand and to one of the people in charge," Kali explained as she looked at Ruby as she talked.

"Your job here is to entertain, we don't want anyone handling money, or having a lot of cash in their rooms." Kali knew this sounded different to maybe what many of them were used to. But employees stealing from others, clients, or the house was a real thing, and reflected badly on an establishment such as hers.

"Thirdly, and to answer your question, the house takes 50%. And while this might sound like a lot, this does cover your unemployment insurance and taxes," she said in a very business-like tone.

The Wolfsbane, for all its reputation in certain circles, was above board superficially. A government inspection would prove that they paid their taxes and treated their employees well.

"Also, we have a "consumption" incentive, you get a percentage for every bottle of liquor or wine that a client orders," she told him. "And while we encourage that you do not ask for tips, anything the client chooses to give you is yours to keep," she told him calmly.

Ruby wasn't the biggest fan of this 50% split. Though when Kali explained it, he supposed it made sense. Honestly, it just meant he had to work more.

"I see. An even 50/50. I am fine with this." Ruby wasn't planning on working in this place forever anyway. He just needed some money and this was a job he was familiar with that paid well. He didn't have to learn anything new or do anything different.

He also didn't have a problem with not keeping the money in person. Getting robbed for all his cash would definitely be a problem.

"So I get paid the more drinks they buy and I can keep all the tips? That's good to know." He smiled while his voice echoed in Kali's head.

"I'm fine with all of this. I am ready to sign an application or whatever it is you need me to sign. Assuming you aren't curious and have questions for me."

"You do, and you will also get a discount on that percentage if you manage to get regulars who will also pay more to spend time exclusively with you," Kali pointed out with a smile.

"Working in this trade is often about customer service. Know your customers, treat them well, and make them happy, and they'll come back to you," the werewolf told Ruby. "It's just like any business really."

At Ruby's question, Kali just shook her head. "Not really, you obviously know what the job is, and have worked in the industry before, I am guessing."

"I am also assuming you can work here legally since every new person to the island is given ID as soon as they land here," she said as she played with a pen on the table.

"I guess I could ask if you are wanted by the law or have a criminal record, but to be honest, as long as you don't bring problems to the Wolfsbane, we are gucci," Kali admitted, trying not to laugh or smile too widely since she, herself, was part of a mafia family.

"Oh, I'm all about treating people well. I'm great at making people feel really good about themselves." His tone of voice became more seductive as it echoed in Kali's head. He smiled as he repositioned himself in the chair. Ruby sat a lot more comfortably in his seat but more importantly, he was making sure Kali could still get a good look at his figure. Even if his sweater was a bit oversized, he looked good.

"Yes, I have an ID." Ruby said as their ID card floated out from their purse and onto the desk for Kali to inspect. It was a legit ID, nothing weird or fake about it.

Ruby eyes blinked in unison when Kali brought up a criminal record. Hm. Alright. He had a record and a bounty on his head but those were technically void in this side of space thanks to the Federation of Milky Way Species. Nevertheless, Ruby still wasn't keen on telling anyone of his past or record.

"I can assure you there will be no problems. I wouldn't want anything to jeopardize my job or reflect badly onto your wonderful establishment."

Kali watched quietly and without comment, smiling to herself when Ruby repositioned himself. She knew what he was doing and she had to admit she like his style. It showed her he had confidence in himself and a bit of swagger too. Yes, Ruby would be a good fit at the Wolfbane.

Glancing at the ID as it settled before her, Kali's icy blue gaze swept over the very familiar Manta Carlos issued document.

"Perfect," she stated as she handed the card back to Ruby. "it looks like everything is in order then." she said, having caught the momentary hesitation when she mentioned criminal behavior, but because the wolf in her didn't sense anything weird she just shrugged it off.
Besides, very few at the Wolfsbane didn't have some sort of past. And to be honest, Kali preferred it that way. If nothing else, it made life interesting.

"If you don't have any more questions for me, you can speak to Galena downstairs. She will help you fill out paperwork, and get you situated," Kali explained as she got up from her desk as the interview came to an end.
