Gabe nodded without uttering a word, though he disappeared for a moment after that. He returned with some tissues and plasters, and as nonchalantly as he could he placed them down on the table. He moved away from them, giving William a chance to use them if he wanted to.
"How do you know?" Gabe asked, suddenly gaining a defensive air, at least until he followed William's gaze. He saw the dirty ash tray he had forgot to put away, and the cigarette butts that were still in it. "Oh." He mumbled, embarrassed.
"It's...a bad habit?" Gabe supplied after a minute. "I would stop if I could, but I don't have the willpower to quit." He'd tried all of two times and both times he had done well for about two weeks before failing. He sighed, "please can we not talk about my smoking habits, it's not really something I'm comfortable talking about." It made him feel ashamed, he was damaging his health by doing it, yet he couldn't stop.
Gabe hoped William wouldn't find out about his drug use either, not that Gabe did anything too serious, just weed. But still, he didn't think his boyfriend would approve. He didn't do it often either so it wasn't like it was really a big issue.
