Zoraida just smiled in understanding when Aedan said that the conversation was making him a tad bit homesick. "Ah, yes, the rain." she chuckled, "Who would have ever thought we'd miss that?!"" she said with a tiny shake of her head. "Does your family still live outside of London?" she asked as she got up and helped herself to a bit more tea.

"Thank you for the warning, I will heed it. Although to be honest, I've already had the displeasure of meeting a few of the islands not so trustworthy individuals," she confessed with a slight frown. "Who would have thought that in England, I'd hardly ever had any serious problems, but I move to this, this paradise island..." she said, actually meaning it, for she did see Manta Carlos as a type of paradise, "And in less than a month, I have had more trouble than all my years there. It's just uncanny..."

Uncurling her legs, Zora sat up a bit straighter as Aedan talked, "When companies change hands, things often go south for a while." she said, understanding how new owners almost always wanted to imprint themselves on the company and this move always caused problems in the short term. "But it sounds like you are happy with your decision, no?" Zora stated as she looked at Aedan, thinking he looked rather young for one who seemed so mature, in control and poised. She also wondered just what abilities he had, and was he strong or capable enough to go against somebody like her brother or Altizica...

"Do you mind me asking this? But have you ever had to protect anyone from a demon?

"You'll like the spring rains here, usually not to warm or to cool." He'd take another sip of his tea, "no, I'm afraid I lost my family some time ago," four years, it'd been your years, time had gone by fast. "It's one of the reasons I came here actually," another sip.

He'd nod, "it's an unfortunate price for having a haven that's willing to be so open to all the entirety of the supernatural community," he'd tilt his head, "open to all and well...the bad slips in with the good, with not all willing to behave themselves." He knew police work on the island was maddening, "the police and the government do their best, but with beings from other realms or with no recorded past it can be difficult. It's why protection is important, paranoia isn't necessary but nothing wrong with being ready for things."

"I am," he'd say with a small options, "it's given meore options, and more freedom in how I approach my work and how I seek employment." This was nice, talking, it was odd that tonight's unusual circumstances were leading to a pleasant conversation.

Aedan would give another nod, "I have, one of the first people I was assigned to protect was a demon, and I've protected people from demons as well." He didn't hate demons, viewed them as people, "given the sheer number of different beings here one has to be ready to deal with any number of abilities."

"Ohh, I'm very sorry to hear that," Zoraida said with concern as she looked at Aedan, knowing full well what it was like to feel loss or the loss of a loved one, and immediately feeling bad that Aedan had lost his family. "Four years or four centuries, losing loved ones is never easy," Zora added as she got up from the couch and walked over in her bare feet to the sidebar where she helped herself to a bit of whiskey.

"Would you like anything? Brandy, or whiskey, maybe?" she asked Aedan, holding up her half-filled glass, feeling the need of something a little stronger than tea.

"I like Manta Carlos," Zora said as she walked back to the couch, drink in hand,"It's a great place to be, and the police were great too. No complaints here... And I do get that it's going to have its share of problems, all places do... I just didn't expect to have them all in one day." she admitted with a wry grin as she sat back down on the couch.

When Aedan answered her question about demons, she took a sip of her whiskey and quietly regarded him over the rim,"Interesting." was all she said, and then got up again from the couch, and walked over to the window and stared out at the dark ocean for a long moment. Turning around, she walked back to the couch and sat down, "What would you say, if I said I wanted to hire a bodyguard?"

"Thank you, this island has been a good place to start over," it'd been unusual coming here, seeing things he'd never seen before, but he'd grown to love it, "it grows on you, you'll see some incredible things and meet some good people, hopefully enough to make up for the bad." He'd offer her a reassuring smile, he knew it could be hard coming here, especially if there were things she wanted to forget.

He'd grin a bit, "whiskey sounds lovely," he didn't drink all that often, but a good amount now that he had more control. "Thank you Zora," he'd say, accepting the drink and taking a sip as he continued to watch her, the burning liquid going down his throat.

Aedan would tilt his head and look at her thoughtfully, "well there's good number of people on the island who work security." He'd take a sip of his whiskey, "security firms and all that," he'd smile, "and then there's me, I'd be a fool not to advertise myself just bit." Another sip, "so yes, I'm am up for hire, it's something I enjoy doing."

"That's good to know..." Zoraida said in a satisfied tone, regarding Aedan silently, taking a moment to size him up professionally, happy with her choice. If there was one thing Zora was good at, it was making business decisions. Aedan was the perfect, and perhaps, most logical choice in her mind, so she didn't need to speak to other candidates - tonight he had already proven to her what type of person he was. Also, on a more personal level, Zoraida was a firm believer in fate and she definitely had the feeling that this person - along with all the nastiness that had happened lately - was for a reason. She didn't know what the reason was, for all she knew, Aedan could be her downfall and Altizica her saviour - only time would tell, but for now, she was satisfied with her decision.

"If you are sure you are for hire, then I'll officially offer you the job. Although, full disclosure... I should warn you first that I have quite a few business dealings that might be considered, um, controversial, for lack of a better word." she said,"my brother is a psychotic mobster who hates me, I have an otherworldly crazy cultist breathing down my back and I am an immortal witch whose powers are somewhat erratic and damaged and magically, I could freeze or boil you by accident," she stated calmly, flashing Aedan a smile as she added, "Oh, and I don't drive... so, you may have to drive me around sometimes. I hope that none of that's a problem."

"Oh my," he'd chuckle just a bit, "sounds like you get up to quite a bit," he'd hum thoughtfully, "don't worry, I'm no stranger to the gray world between the cracks." He'd been forced into that world at a young age, not given a choice, protecting someone who had to be a part of it seemed appropriate.

He'd take another sip of his drink, "well, you should know about my abilities then, my body is enhanced in both its durability and strength as well as my senses." He motioned to his eyes, "you've probably noticed how my eyes glow, it's caused by ionic energy that my body generates, I can use it to create blasts as well as solid constructs." Useful abilities, they were very handy in this line of work.

Standing he'd give her a smile and offer her his hand to shake, "well Zora, it very much looks like you've got yourself a bodyguard." It was nice, getting back to work and also making a friend, seemed like he'd gotten both on this incredibly odd bur productive night.

"Yes, I suppose you could say that ..." Zora grinned when Aedan stated that she seemingly got up to quite a bit. "As they say, appearances can be somewhat deceiving. I also just wanted to make sure you know what you'll be getting yourself into," she said being completely honest with him. "Not everybody wants to actually be in danger every day... and hopefully, you won't be, but nevertheless, you should know as much as possible before working with me. Oh, and Tomas, my brother, doesn't know I'm here yet, and I'd like it to stay that way." she stated.

When Aedan explained what his powers were to her, Zoraida sipped her whiskey, listened carefully and thoughtfully considered what they meant. "So you are basically stronger and more resistant than a normal being. ... How are you with healing, or deflecting magic?" she asked with interest, knowing Tomas, and especially Altizica, were strong magically and could seriously harm, if not kill, Aedan if he wasn't careful.

"Yes, it seems, I do..." Zora agreed warmly as she shook Aedan's hand with a smile, "Strange how things work out sometimes." she added, once again amazed at how fast things could change in her life. "So, is there anything else you want or need to know before starting tomorrow?" she asked curiously, getting up to refill her glass of whiskey, offering Aedan a refill too. She had actually never had a bodyguard before now, and despite everything, could only guess what more he needed from her.

He'd nod, "I'll do everything I can to help you keep your location a secret from him," he was a former black ops assassin, so Aedan had good skills. "I understand some information on the matter might be personal, but when the time comes I'll likely require you to inform me of everything so that I'll know how to properly deal with everything."

"I heal about the same rate as an average human, but I've tested my endurance and I can take a 9mm found with just bruises," he was essentially always wearing a decent kevlar vest. "When it comes to deflection I can form my ionic energy into arm mounted shields as well as melee weapons," his powers seemed designed to evolve so he'd likely become much more powerful as time went on, "I also have training with various weaponry if or when they're ever required."

Aedan would shake her hand and accept the refill, "I'll need the location of your offices so that I can look them over, unless you plan on moving and finding better ones." He'll take a sip of his whiskey, "also I'll need this address, I know a good locksmith who can provide good locks both here and at your place of business, be they normal locks or magical, whichever you'd prefer." He'd smile just a bit, it felt good working again, "seems it was a fortuitous night my friend," he'd say raising his glass.

"Thank you for your discretion," Zora said with a somewhat relieved look on her face. She knew, logically, that Aedan wouldn't tell anyone, but paranoia often kept her awake lately. It was never like this before, but now, with her magic being so unpredictable Zora knew she couldn't count on it to defend herself, and it was just safer if her brother didn't know she was around.
"And whatever you need to know about my brother, that's not a problem." Zoraida replied with an understanding nod.

"Good." Zoraida said, satisfied for now with Aedan's abilities. He seemed to know how to handle himself, though she knew that she must remember to warn him to never agree to anything her brother offered him, in case that agreement was actually binding in some twisted way.

"Actually, now that you mention my offices... The ones I had originally rented are not fit to work in," Zora stated, wrinkling her nose at the disgusting state they were in, "and besides that, my cultist "friend" knows where they are, so I think that is the first thing we can do tomorrow... find new offices." she explained when Aedan asked for the address to her offices. "The house address is, uh, gimme a sec..." here she got up and looked for a piece of paper to write on, finding one on the sideboard, she wrote down the address, along with her two cell numbers. "The house address, and my two cell numbers-— one is my private number, the other is my business line, you can you either..." she told him. "I think both type of locks - at least for now... " she said, knowing she sounded like she was overdoing it, but magic locks could be broken - not as easily as normal locks, but she really didn't want to take any chances.

"I'll certainly drink to that." Zora said with a happy smile when Aedan proposed a toast, raising her glass a little, happy to have met someone who she could count on and that she knew would be a great friend.
