Maddie, once again late for a class, slipped through theback doorto the classroom, hoping no one would see him coming in late. His first day doing this class at the Academy and he was late. That would surely make the teacher hate him. Not that he cared much anyways, because he hated science.

Bang! Maddie cringed. He had triedto shut the door quietly, but it was one of those stupid ones that no matter how hard yuou tried, it made way too much noise closing. The other teens in the class turned to him and snickered or even outright laughed. Maddie sighed and gave an embarrassed smile, lifting his hand in a small wave. "Hey," he greeted.

Turning to the teacher, he began to start of with an apology and an excuse as to why he was late, but the words stopped in his mouth when he realized who it was. "Hello, ma'am." His charming smile replaced the embarrassed one this time.

[sub]Sadie was getting negative vibes from her students, which was making her more nervous. She had been silent for the last few minutes as she drew a diagram of an electron on the board. Finishing the drawing, she set the chalk down and picked up a book.

"So when an electron collides with a...." She trailed off when the door opened, fully prepeared to yell at the student. But then she saw who it was. The book slipped through her fingertips and landed on her foot as she stared at him blankly.

Sadie snapped out of it abruptly, and she bent to pick up the book. "Um....um...you're late..." She said lamely. Her cheeks were turning pink, she was sure of it. "Take a seat, please."[/sub]

As she dropped the book, Maddie hid a secretive grin. He was glad he had that book-dropping affect on her. First he'd make her spill her drink, and now this. Either she was clumsy, or she liked him. He kept those opinions to himself, though.

"Um....um...you're late..."

"I know, and I'm sorry. I was having trouble finding the room." He sat himself down just as she told him to. Most of the others in the class had lost interest and had turned back around, but there were still a few who were still staring at him.

Looking at them, Maddie spun his finger and then pointed forward, telling them silently that they needed to pay attention. Coming from him, though, someone who hated science and didn't understand it, it was comical if you knew him.

Taking our a text book and a notebook--neither of which he would really use--Maddie smiled at the teacher and nodded, giving her permission to continue.

Sadie was absolutely and completely thrown off. She set the book on the desk. "Alright. But don't let it happen again...please." OH BLAST. She had known she was going to blow at this. She should have followed her instincts and not decided to teach.

She took a deep breath, refusing to look him in the eye. "I'll be right back. Start reading the section in your books," She told them.

Feeling like she was going to get sick, she started for the door, but she tripped on her own foot just as she was passing Maddie's desk.

Maddie frowned as he opened the book. He wasn't sure which section they were in, and so just flipped through the pages. He sighed and settled on a random page talking about atoms and all that interesting stuff.

In his peripheral vision he watched his teacher walk towards the door. He still didn't know her name, and he plannd on figuring it out. "Miss--" He began, but then stopped.

She tripped and he instinctively reached out and caught her before she hit the ground. A concerned look crossed his face. "You okay?" He asked quietly.

As soon as Sadie had regained her balance, she took a large, firm step away from him. "I'm fine," She lied. "Thank you." Those were her last words as she walked out of the classroom.

She got halfway down the hall before she mentally started scolding herself. She couldn't just walk out of the classroom in the middle of class. No self respecting teacher would do that!

She could at least get a bottle of water though, and pray that her students wouldn't be too pyscho while she was gone. She found a bottle of water in her dorm room, then she sprinted back to the class, glad that she was wearing a pair of polka-dot ballet flats instead of high heels or flip flops.

She entered, and as calmly as she could, sat at her desk.

Maddie doubted she was really fine, but he wasn't going to argue. He waited until she was out of the room before looking to the boy on his right. "What section are we on?"

"Three point two."

"K, thanks." Maddie turned back a few pages and began reading. He didn't understand much of it, but he didn't want to appear completely stupid when the lovely teacher came back.
