Kon couldn't help but chuckle. Look at him, getting worried over nothing. Vladimir had his own problems that Kon helped him out with. It was only fair for him to return the favor.

With loosened shoulders, Konpeitō nodded and decided to say what was on his mind. "I'm not too used to the relationship thing. My last relationship was... Do you know about the nek0s? The genetically modified humans given cat features and used as slaves? I am... was one." He paused there, thinking that explained some of the issues well enough. Mostly it was because he had to focus hard on his shape-shifting. He was not going to lose his form now.

"I'm mostly over it," Konpeitō with a dismissive wave, "but I do worry I'm moving too fast and I'm dragging you along in the process. Or that I'm too ignorant for this sort of thing. I was only rescued in January. It'll be my anniversary here soon. I've accomplished a lot, but it's also proof of how quickly I'm moving."

Vladimir had indeed heard about the Nek0s. He even had a few as patients, and while he wasn't too overly shocked to know Kon had been one, it still came somewhat of a surprise.

"Well, as a doctor, first I am going to say, do not just shrug that off and pretend you are almost "over it"," he started, knowing full well what the Nek0s had been used for. "It's okay and quite normal if it still bothers or affects you."

"Secondly, as your boyfriend, thank you for telling me," Vladimir said as he looked at Kon, understanding just how difficult this was for him. "But you needn't worry that you are pulling me into anything I don't want to be part of..." he explained, trying to reassure him that he wasn't forcing Vlad into anything he did not want to be in.

Konpeitō appreciated Vladimir's comforting words. It showed on his smile and the way his body relaxed. He wasn't usually this much of a worrier, but this was a new environment. One he was painfully clumsy in.

"Over it might have been an exaggeration. I magically broke my bond with my dad, so most of my feelings towards my past are gone now," he said matter-of-factly.

"And I appreciate it. It's comforting to know I have someone like you to talk to about this. I have a feeling we're both confident enough to say when we're feeling bothered."

Vlad nodded in understanding, but the physician in him was still a tiny bit skeptical. "Okay, the bond might be gone, but are the memories?" he pointed out gently. "I just want you to know, that I understand if that part of your past still affects you." he told Kon.

"I'll be honest. I'll try to communicate, though sometimes, I brood and can't tell you what's wrong, mainly because it's work-related. It's actually a problem I have had before in relationships," he confessed with a tiny frown.

Konpeitō couldn't argue with that. Losing the bond he had with his father only negated some parts of his emotions in the grand scheme of things. He developed new emotions from his memories. New emotions that separated himself from Sprinkles.

What really stunned Kon was Vladimir's sudden confession. It was, surprisingly, comforting. His colors went back to normal and a small smile came upon his face.

"The memories aren't gone, so you're right there... I'm happy that you understand, and I won't blame you for not always being in the mood to communicate." Assume Vladimir was always in the mood to talk about how he felt would be difficult. Thinking about it, that was a great way for arguments to start than end. "As a cat, I certainly have my moods as well," Kon continued with a joke. "I'm sure we'll get used to each other's moods quickly enough. I know I will. Er, fast learner and all. Nek0 stuff."

"We will get there eventually, Kon. I have faith in that," Vladimir stated calmly as he met Kon's gaze and smiled while he chose another mochi. They had only been seeing each other for a short while and Vladimir, at least for the moment, had total confidence things would work out.

Konpeito and him were different enough that they didn't step on each other's toes, and it seemed that Kon was more than willing to communicate their feelings and what was bothering him, which relieved Vladimir actually. It meant that hopefully, he didn't have to play the "guess what I did wrong" game when he accidentally did something to upset Kon.

Konpeitō let out some chuckles. "Now then, that went way better than expected. I have to say, this island keeps surprising me with how accepting it can be. I thought my chronological age would be a much bigger issue than it is, and now this." His eyes slid down to her hands for a moment, wondering if he changed in colors. No. Good. He may slowly be getting over his insecurities for once.

"I'm particularly happy I snagged someone like you. I'm more comfortable with someone more... adult-minded and established." He would have said older, but that could be taken as offensive for obvious reasons. He also didn't want to make any potential links to his father.
