"Yes, I do. It's a good thing, I have time to establish my standing and build a career before I'm forced to take leave."
That was what Fehr had been afraid of when acquiring her teaching license, that the academy wouldn't hire her because of her pregnancy. In her old dimension pregnant women absolutely couldn't work in any positions of power or authority. But this dimension, as she had noticed, was much more progressive.

"It's a boy, and his name will be Leo."
Fehr answered, smiling a small and soft, yet slightly melancholy smile. Fehr had known the child's gender the moment she had found out she was pregnant. Her ability allowed for her to sense his life energy, and it told her he was going to be healthy and had powerful magic powers. Neither surprised her, considering the parentage the child had.

"That's wonderful," Noel said when she told him the baby was a boy and she would be calling him Leo."Is that short for anything," he enquired wondering if the name was a diminutive of Leopold, Leonardo or Leon.

"And is Leo a family name by chance?" he added as he came around and sat against the desk wanting to know a little more about the fascinating young woman that he would be sharing a classroom with.

Naturally Noel wished to know more, but as they ventured into the details of why Fehralyn was naming her child like she was she mentally withdrew. Fehralyn was a reasonably open person, but when it came to the details of her pregnancy she had trouble sharing. Outside, however, her expression didn't change as she answered.
"No, he is just Leo."
Short for the name of Fehr's now deceased lover and the father of her child.

"No, Leo is not a name that goes down in my family."
Fehr answered with a slight shake of her head, and she hoped Noel wouldn't go too much into details if she kept her answers curt. But Fehralyn didn't want to be rude either, Noel was clearly a friendly and kind person who didn't deserve to be treated rudely without a good reason.

"Well, then..." Noel said with a little nod, getting a sense from her short answers that she really didn't want, or couldn't, talk about it and not wanting to appear pushy, decided to drop the topic.

"Leo is a fine name, a good name for a boy in my humble opinion," he stated kindly as he then picked up the cardboard box and placed it away in a cupboard at the back of the classroom which he proceeded to lock.

"Before I forget," he said as Noel handed her a key that he had taken off the keyring as he returned to where she was standing. "Master key to all the locks in the school classrooms. It's an enchanted key," he added as a way of explanation.

"Thank you. It's very simple, but works for my purposes, for him."
Fehr answered, her tone was genuine, and she had a small smile on her face. Her purpose was to simply keep a small part of her loved one alive, and when Leo would be born he'd be the only one left from all the people Fehr loved in her dimension. All the rest...were dead.

Fehr set a pile of papers on the table and turned to receive the key Noel was offering her. She looked at it and could see a faint aura around the key, the life energy in the magic used on it.
"But is it alright for me to receive this? Isn't this yours?"
Fehr asked with slight confusion.

"The key is for you actually," Noel said with a smile, "The administration told me I would be sharing a few classrooms with you, and so I decided to ask for a copy to give to you," he confessed.

"I had hoped that I would run into you at some point today," he told her as he leaned casually against a desk. "The school often forgets to issue the key unless you ask, so I figured I'd see if they had given you one, and if not I'd request one and introduce myself," Noel said with a friendly smile.

"Oh."
Was all Fehr commented at first on the fact that Noel had gone through the trouble to get this key for her. Fehr had been careless, her mind had been too full of teaching that she had forgotten about details like that. Fehr put the key in her pocket.
"That's very thoughtful of you, you have my gratitude."

"So in other words, this was an ambush?"
Fehr said, joking around a bit, and she had a small smile on her face. In actuality she truly appreciated this, Fehr did sometimes have the tendency to ignore details over the big picture.

"Ambush, teacher trap, a colleague entrapment, or whatever else you'd like to call it," Noel laughed good-naturedly, "But yes, I guess you could put it that way," he said jokingly at Fehr's teasing.

"I like to greet new staff when I can and get to know them, maybe conspire as to the best way to subdue unruly mischief makers or motivate homework dodgers," he said with a wide grin, "Also, it's just nice meeting new and interesting people like yourself," Noel remarked truthfully.

Thankfully Noel was able to take a joke, and Fehr chuckled lightly when he listed all the things this situation could be named. Fehr could've added a few dozen names more to that list, but neither of them had that much time.
"Whatever it is called, I appreciate it."

Fehr didn't really consider herself interesting. Unusual, surely, especially since this dimension seemed to be slightly lacking in horned pegasi. But unusual always did not equal interesting. For some people it merely meant Fehr was going to be of use to them.
"I suppose I'm flattered."
Fehr answered, not really looking that flattered, and her tone was matter-of-fact.
"As for conspiring against our dear students, I have covered as many areas as I couls think of in my bat-, I mean, course plan."
Fehr said, and patted the very thick folder on her desk.

"Everybody is interesting my dear, everybody," Noel insisted when Fehr gave him a somewhat dubious look. "When you've lived as long as myself, you realise that life becomes precious and all creatures have something that makes them unique and special," he told her matter-of-factly before letting it drop.

"Oh?" Noel stated with a raised eyebrow, surprised actually that she already had a few ideas laid out, "I see that you came prepared to do battle," he laughed good-naturedly, his eyes twinkling now at the idea.
