Name: Alyss
Age: 19
Birthday: April 27
Gender: Female
Category: Student
Class: College (undecided studies; Psychology for now)

Appearance Description:
Medium-length, silvery white hair crowns Alyss' head, some strands falling to her shoulders and her bangs occasionally falling slightly over her reddish eyes, while she often keeps some of her hair tied up a little in the back. Otherwise, she stands at around 5'6", with relatively pale skin and a relatively thin-set form, albeit with some definite feminine curves and some muscle tone. But then, these more mundane bits of her appearance would likely not be what most would focus on; rather, it's the goldish-red, almost fiery wings upon her back. Large enough at least to carry her and going from her shoulders to her waist even when tucked against her back, they are quite indisputably her most notable physical feature. That, and perhaps the strangely-patterened tattoo on her right forearm, or her legs altering into more avian-like features below the knees... if she ever lets people see either of those, anyway.

In regards to attire, she doesn't usually seem to favor what one might call normal fashions. Her norm is a kimono-like garment, albeit sleeveless, with a slit down the side of one leg and form-fitting pants worn underneath at all times. The baggy sleeves themselves only start from bands just above her elbows to end around her wrists. Rarely does she wear anything but such a style of apparel, though it does come in a few different color and pattern variants for her.

Personality Description: While she is honest to a fault, and quite giving, Alyss is hardly the most social of beings. Everyone she meets she worries will ostracize her in some way, given her history, leading her to a fair degree of pessimism and lack of trust of others. Given that, she tends to avoid crowds and such things, rather sticking mostly to herself. All the better for her that way, she feels.

Not to say she's a coward, mind; quite the contrary, if she feels she should be sticking up for something or someone, then she absolutely will. She doesn't always think things through very far, granted, but she at least tries nonetheless. Otherwise, she's a fairly intelligent person, if occasionally a little irritable, who absolutely loves dancing and quite dislikes being touched... at least, unless she's come to trust you, somehow or other.

Powers:
Phoenix Flame: Much akin to the mythical bird itself, Alyss can create and control a flame that bears special properties, seemingly produced right from her body itself. While it can burn, it will only burn that which she chooses it to, up to a temperature at the high end of red flame. Alternatively, it can be altered to restore injuries at a faster pace than one would normally heal. Because of it, she's fairly heat-resistant, though can't use even the healing properties of the flames on herself.

Flight: As a natural effect of having wings, Alyss can fly, even so far as to carry one other person with her with some degree of difficulty. Granted, she only can so long as her strength holds out, and then she may end up with the wind to deal with.

Biography: Like all of her kin, Alyss was born in a mountainous region of Europe; largely away from civilization, and especially largely away from the prying eyes of normal humans. There had been legends scattered throughout the past, of course, but for the most part her kin, the ever-mythical harpies, kept mostly to themselves. There have been exceptions, of course... but then, even they have their own legends. Legends regarding humans, legends regarding curses, the works.

Alyss herself, sadly, was amongst the latter.

Born to a long-dormant power and bloodline somewhere in her family's distant past, the child from the offset was very obviously different, solely by the properties of her wings. Thus born effectively as an outcast, she was nonetheless still raised in their little mountainous village, her kin not so cold as to completely abandon a defenseless child. She was, however, taught from a young age how to depend on herself and not be dependent upon others; taught about language, and society, and whatever else she might need to make it on her own. And then, when deemed ready, she was forced to leave, off to other lands. Off to, given a little time, Manta Carlos to attend school with others, where she (presumably) would have some sort of place. Whether or not she would would ultimately depend on her, but really, anything was better than staying around people merely tolerating her existence as long as they had to.
