Selkiris thought carefully about what Salal’s hours were before setting his tea down for a moment. “Forgive me I just need to check one thing, I’ll be right back.” With that Selkiris poofed into thin air, vanishing completely. Selkiris then reappeared back in the chair roughly twenty seconds later. “Alright, so I checked my calendar and I beleive Tuesdays would be the best day for you to come if that’s alright. I often have the most things to do on that day so having extra hands in the garden would be very helpful.”

Salal jumped slightly when Selkiris suddenly disappeared into thin air, momentarily alarmed. She looked around the room, mostly just curious as to how and where he had disappeared. But Selkiris had said he'd be right back, so Salal patiently waited and sipped her tea. Selkiris really did return soon with the information as to what days would be most convenient for him.

"Tuesday will do well, what time I come? I am free after morning."
Salal asked, setting her almost empty cup down carefully. All Salal's classes were during early mornings on Tuesdays, she hoped Selkiris could find time beyond that.
"I also ask, want me to do first time today? I have time, I can get head start now, trim and water and other small things."
Salal suggested, looking at the garden through the window again.

Selkiris looked out into the garden, his gaze was mostly locked into the violets growing there. “I think...starting at one would be good if that is alright. If you really want to get a head start on working on the garden then be my guest, however it isn’t necessary.” How long had Selkiris had a garden? Honestly he couldn’t really remember the exact length of time either. It was likely shortly after he settled down on the island, but it may have been later as well.

"That is good, I will remember."
Salal confirmed and nodded, setting her now empty cup on the table. She smiled at Selkiris and shook her head slightly, picking up her tool bag.
"I will be glad to start now. If you wish you can join, tell me about your garden. I'll be happy to know it all."
Salal suggested, and if Selkiris agreed she'd let him lead the way out to the garden.

If Salal had decided to get a head start on her work today, Selkiris might as well help familiarize her with the garden he had. As the entered the garden it was immediately clear everything was very organized. All the flowers and plants seemed to grow in designated areas that were sectioned off by stone. The only exception to this was in the far back, where a large wooden arch stood. Underneath the arch was a very elegant statue with violets surrounding it’s entirety and even growing on a few very specific parts of the statue.

Salal personally preferred a kind of organized chaos when it came to gardens. A style that allowed the plants to grow naturally but still look beautiful and inviting. But she didn't hate the kind of organized style that Selkiris had going on in his garden. Salal liked all gardens, they reflected the mind and spirit of their creator. Salal didn't know much about Selkiris, but perhaps this garden would help her familiarize herself to him on a certain level.

"Is beautiful, Mr. Selkiris."
Salal commented gently after taking the garden, and the statue at the back, in. That statue seemed to be of great value to Selkiris, judging from the way it was positioned and seemed very well taken care of. Salal made a mental note to always wash and care for the statue extra carefully.
"Do you have special instruction for me? Place you do not want I go to, or want me to not use pesticide?"
Salal asked, they were standard questions. Salal usually avoided using pesticides anyway, but sometimes she used it as a last resort if other ways failed.

Selkiris smiled but it was, of course, obscured by his hood. “Thank you Ms. Salal.” He couldn’t take much credit for it though. This was the same set up his wife had back at their cottage, but in smaller of a scale than the one here. “I can only ask you are very careful near the violets. Those flowers mean a lot to me and I just wish for them to be in the best possible shape they can be. Other than that you are quite free to do whatever you see is fit for the garden and it’s upkeep.”

As expected, Selkiris wanted the statue and flowers surrounding it to receive extra careful care. Salal hadn't been wrong in her guess. She smiled and nodded, fully intending to respect the man's wish.
"Then I start with them? I show you I take good care, wish to put you at ease. Your garden in good paws with me."
Salal said with a chuckle and lifted her hands a bit, trying to indicate to her small attempt at a joke by calling her hands paws because she was a bear, in a way.

Salal approached the violets and the statue, and kneeled by the flowers to assess their condition. Their colour was healthy and Salal didn't see any signs of over- or underwatering. The soil was still damp, which meant the flowers didn't need to be watered until tomorrow. But to help the flowers stay as vital as possible until then Salal pulled out a spray bottle from her bag, and carefully sprayed a thin sheen of moisture on the flowers, as well as the statue. Then Salal proceeded to dry and give the statue a quick dusting, making sure it had no dirt on it. As Salal worked she made small talk with Selkiris, commenting on the flowers and weather, asking innocent questions that were easy to answer and such. Salal was becoming a lot better at socializing as of late.
"You have a tool shed?"
Salal asked after she was done.

Selkiris shook his head “By all means please go ahead I don’t mind at all.” Selkiris watched carefully and Salal worked on the violets. They were studying just about everything that they were doing and were ready to jump in at any moment if anything were to go wrong. Thankfully though that never needed to really happen though. Salal was as gentle as Selkiris could ever hope for them to be. “Hmm no I apologize that is one of the few things I don’t have.”

Selkiris didn't interrupt Salal's work, which must've meant that she was doing an acceptable job and that made her quite happy. She wanted to show that she was trustworthy, and Salal wanted to build a good relationship between herself and her new employer. Salal in general wanted people to trust and like her, it was much better than remaining indifferent or being distrustful.

"It is okay, I have all tools I need in my bag. Will I bring my own mower of lawn, or do you have one?"
Salal asked. She had invested in buying one of the machines, since she needed it for her own yard, and although most people did have their own lawnmowers Salal imagined there may come a day when said mower might break or the customer wouldn't have one.
