Selia sat on a larger rock nearby the lake. The sun was falling lower and lower, its last rays ran over the water, making it shine and sparkle quite beautifully. Her legs were pulled up, and her arms wrapped around her. She was wearing usual light jeans and a white tank top, to keep warm from the coming chill she drew her thin white blanket around her shoulders. She rested her chin on her arms as she looked out over the waters.

She was so unsure of what she was getting herself into, but in the same time, very sure and positive. Daniel needed taking care of, and she felt like she had too, she wanted too, she would love too, and she would, though, she had many things to do now, mainly, to find a good place where she could live and raise the boy better instead of hiding him in a small dorm room, which it shouldn't be too hard, she hoped. And with that, she still had to figure out who she was, find her memories. She closed her eyes, biting her bottom lip.

She ran her hands through her loose white hair, clenching it. Why couldn't she remember who she was? Why was it so hard too... Ugh. She stood up, standing on the rock, before jumping off lightly, letting the blanket fall to the ground, slipping her hands into her pockets.

It had one of those days. That is why Alex was so relieved it was over. Her day started way before the sun was up. She woke up early and was unable to get back to sleep so she went for a walk. There she had met Galen and had a rather interesting talk with him. Then in the afternoon she ran into the little boy named Daniel and had been so bothered by what he had told her she skipped the rest other classes for the day, and just wandered around the campus thinking. Was it really okay to let him stay in a dorm with another student as his only guardian and provider and how would that even work? Not well, Alex had concluded. But she wasn’t going to turn the boy in, at least if she had any other choice she wouldn’t.

After dinner she was going to go back to her room and catch up on her sleep, but her roommate and three of her friends were having a study session. Well it was suppose to be a study session but it rapidly turned into a giggle slumber party of boy comparing and beauty tips. They tried to get Alex in on the act, she was going to have none of it. She may not have been a man anymore, but she still had her manly dignity dammit! Or at least as much manly dignity as a girl in sandals knee length socks, a pair of sophie shorts and a tank top.

Alex decided she would make her way to the lake. Not many people go out there at this time of the night maybe she could get finally get some alone time, and get a nice view of the sunset while she is at it. But as so many things that had happen today, it did not go as plan. She sensed the other person nearby before she even saw them.
“Somebody out there?” Alex called out before immediately reprimanding herself. Really, all those horror movies and monster films didn’t teach you anything did you she told herself. You never call out in the darkness in a secluded location when a stranger is nearby. “Anyone?” She added this time a little softer and with an uneasiness in her voice.

Selia was walking along the side of the lake, staying far enough from it so she wouldn't get wet even if she loved water, when she heard someone call out, and heard what was said as the breeze carried it her way. She tilted her head slightly to the side, looking out at the darkening land around her, and picking out another figure there. She turned around and slowly headed towards the person, a bit cautiously though, her feet, even in high heels, made nearly no noise at all.

"Hello..." She said, a bit unsure, her hand lifted slightly in a small wave before it dropped to her side. Her bluish green eyes looked at the other girl a bit curiously, though, very unsure, almost confused. She was still getting the hang of interacting with people, always afraid she would somehow screw up.

She hesitated before deciding to introduce herself, try to be a bit polite, and maybe gain another friend, if others did consider her a friend. "My names Selia." She said, letting a smile unto her face briefly.

Alex never thought two syllables could ever scare her as much as that single hello did. She let out a embarrassingly high pitched sounding yelp as she jumped back, her long brown hair covering her face as she did. With a curse Alex pulled her hair out of her face and wished she didn’t just leave it tied back, or better yet cut it all off, as she did this she slowly turned around to face whatever said hello. What she saw surprised her. It was a pale skinned girl with white hair and attractive eyes. This was defiantly not what she was expecting and breathed huge sigh of relief.

When Selia introduced herself Alex couldn’t help but crack a smile. This was just the person she wanted to see, Alex couldn’t help but think this was the universes way of saying my bad for such a lousy day she had. “Well isn’t this fortunate.” Alex grinned. “My names Alex, I met Daniel today.

She was confused a bit when the other girl got startled, she didn't understand that very well, but pushed it aside. She folded her arms around herself. The girl said her name was Alex, but when she mentioned Daniel, something tightened inside of her, and her eyes widened. Different images ran through her head, terrible things, and she was afraid something happened to him, but she bit her lip, calming herself. Alex just said she had met Daniel, but Selia couldn't help feeling worried about the child she was going to take care of.

"Daniel's alright, isn't he? He's not hurt or anything? You didn't call the social services or anything... right?" Worry outlined Selia's voice. It wasn't hard to guess how Alex must know that Selia took care of Daniel. The boy was such a sweet little thing, and she wouldn't blame him if he did tell someone, it wasn't that much of a secret, it won't have to be really once she found a place to raise Daniel properly, hopefully anyway.

((Sorry about that. I somehow missed your last post.))

Alex could tell she was defiantly talking to Daniel’s caretaker when she tensed up at the mention of the boy’s name. She silently cursed herself when she picked up on the girls panicked thoughts of worst case scenarios of what could have happen to the kid. Perhaps it would have been best if was a little lest vague when talking like this next time. At least it proved to Alex that this girl, Selia, did sincirly care about Daniel.

“He’s fine, he’s fine.” Alex quickly said to reassure the girl. “I didn’t call social services or anything, don’t worry his secrets safe with me.” Alex paused before speaking up again. “But I do have to admit I am somewhat concerned.” She paused again looking for the most tactful way of voicing these concerns. “Are you sure this is what best for Daniel?” Alex said finally bluntly. “I mean do you really think you could manage to take care of him.” Yeah it was blunt Alex knew and she knew that opening questioning this girls ability to take care of Daniel may not be the best first impression. Of course she’s not going to let some poor boy get harmed while tip toeing around social niceties.

When Alex said Daniel was fine, Selia let herself relax more, breathing a sigh of relief, but frowned when the girl said some things she was concerned about. Was it the best thing for Daniel? Could she take care of him? Selia sighed, running her hand through her hair, and shook her head slowly.

"No. I'm not sure at all." She said truthfully, and turned around, walking to the rock that wasn't too far off from Alex so she could still talk to her. She then sat on the rock again, picking up her blanket, wrapping it around her shoulders again.

"It seems to be what Daniel wants. I know its a bit... odd right now and doesn't seem the greatest, but its going to get much better. He understands that I'm not an expert at taking care of a child, but its better then his father isn't it? And I won't betray the boy by handing him over to social workers. not when I promised to take care of him." Selia said. Sides, she did have ways of dealing with those people, though, those were illegal ways, but somehow she knew how to forge things, she just couldn't remember where she had learned too.

"Daniel will be perfectly safe in my care. I won't let anything happen to him." She said a bit more quietly.

Alex was surprised when Selia admitted she wasn’t really sure if she could take care of Daniel. Of course she wasn’t surprised for long. After all it was a rather loaded question. Alex noted that Selia couldn’t be more than a year or so older than her how could she be sure she is ready to be in charge of another humans life. How could anyone?

“I know this is what Daniel wants.” Alex finally said, after all that is what he made so abundantly clear earlier in the day. “But what he wants is still not what is best for him. How are you going to feed him? Or get him clothes? And what if he gets sick?” Alex paused for a moment she was sure she was probably filling the girl with dread perhaps it wasn’t best to badger her like that. “All I am trying to say is how can you take care of him here at this place in secret. If he gets sick you can’t just take him to the school clinic and pretend like they won’t notice he isn’t supposed to be here.” Alex sighed heavily and shrugged her shoulders as she followed Selia over to the large rock. She did have to admit that she did not think Daniel going back to his father was the best thing for him, but she still wasn’t convinced this was either.

“I’m sure of that.” Alex added when Selia promised he would be safe here. This was a school after all full of people with powers just this side of demigods, she was confident if anything bad happen Selia would probably be able to defend Daniel. Of course she wasn’t sure why she thought that. There was just something about the way Selia carried herself that said she could take care of herself.

Selia watched the girl talk, watching silently, and smiled when the girl got to the part of how she was going to feed him, clothe him, and got sick. She felt like laughing even, but held that back, knowing that it wouldn't show well if she did so.

"I'm not poor, Alex. And he's not going to hide in rooms at the academy for all his life. I plan on getting a apartment nearby. I even found my self a part time job to work around classes. I'm trying to plan everything out, and its hard, I admit, but its what I need to do." She looked across the lake a moment, a smiling flickering across her face again. She looked at Alex.

"Everything will be taken care of soon. Maybe if everything works out smoothly I could even get Daniel to a school, its a big, big maybe though." She said, wondering what she may have to forge if she could do that, but schools weren't big priority right now.

Alex blushed at the realization about how presumptive she was. She couldn’t believe she assumed that everyone here would be in a similar situation as she was. Of course she’s not, Alex thought, not everyone has been ditched on this island by parents trying to forget you exist; she more than likely had some kind of benefactor.

Alex walked over past Selia and right to the edge of the lake. Sliding her shoes and socks off she left them beside on dry land she took a step forward. Stopping once her ankles were covered she shivered from the cold water. “I’m sure it will,” Alex responded thinking about the thousands of different ways this whole thing could go wrong. After several long silent moments of that she glanced back over her shoulder at Selia and asked. “What kind of job?” Alex knew this may be the worst time to ask that, but she was unemployed and her parents hadn’t sent her any money in months and she was slowly realizing if she ever wanted to do anything she was going to have to earn her way herself.
