Ana dug her spider legs into the floor, anchoring herself in place as she tried to pull Chloe out through the portal. The table might not move, but she was confident that she was stronger than her aunt.

"I'd never eat Amber, Auntie. I love my baby sister. You, on the other hand? I'm thinking about it. You never treated me like the others. Amber was your favorite, but how could she not be? And Phaedra. Well, I know how close the two of you got. You weren't content just having Mama and Mal. You had to try and steal away Phaedrea from -"

If Dalia had been there, she would have made a comment about getting caught monologuing. Which was exactly what happened to Anastasia as the sudden rush of wind that was Jackal's fist slammed into the side of her head. She wasn't expecting it in the least and went sprawling, losing her grip on the thread attached to Chloe.

Regaining her bearings, she backed away from Jackal and nursed the severe bruising on her face. She kept herself ready. He was fast, but she could dodge if she needed to. She was pretty sure at least that he couldn't crawl as well as she could if she got to the outside walls. "Well if it isn't the replacement boyfriend. You gonna kill me like you used to kill Mal? Do you think she'd be jealous if you splattered me all over the wall?"

Chloe felt sick. She remembered that night: the room was dark, and Chloe was coming home from a late night study session. She felt Phaedra before she saw her. Feeling Chloe up, pushing her against the wall. Chloe assumed it was Pandora. They looked so similar. Sounded so similar. The deception held up for a few minutes. When Chloe figured it out, she was horrified at how far it had gone. She pushed Phaedra away, both physically and emotionally. But why did she tell Dalia? What did she tell Dalia?

Chloe was slow to react to Jackal's arrival, too caught up in her thoughts. She shook them off.

Out of Ana's view, Jackal might notice Chloe teleport most of the way back to portal. "That's Dalia's demon half. Don't let her leave."

Jackal seemed like the type to want to do this without getting police too involved, or at least he seemed willing to work that way, to Chloe. That would be useful if they could get Ana under control.

Right around the time Ana hit the floor, Jackal was plucking the little pin off his chest, tossing it into the air as it snapped to full size. Karya's spear. No longer enchanted. No longer empowered. It had never worked for him, and that was probably by design, but a spear was a spear, and he snatched it out of the air, shifting into a battle stance.

He ignored the taunts. The instructions had been clear enough: Don't kill her. If she died, bad things happened.

"If you're half of Dalia," Jackal said, "then we shouldn't be fighting at all. We should be talking this out."

How much did she know? If she was Dalia's demon half, she shouldn't have known anything about his power set, but Jackal wasn't counting on that. There were a lot of elements in play that he knew literally nothing about, and he didn't have enough time to sit down and think them all out, either.

"The conversation was already had, Jackie," she said, looking at the spear with disgust. She didn't know the details, but instinctual jealousy rose up in her. But this wasn't the time or the place. Ana started looking for a way out. A window, most likely. Jackal was fast though, so she would probably only get one shot to get away.

Slinging lines of web at and around Jackal, Ana made a break for the nearest window with the full intention to crash through it regardless of the damage she would take from doing so.

Jackal was fast. People didn't realize how fast Jackal was. They thought, at best, that he was superhuman fast. They didn't realize he was blink-and-you-miss-it fast.

Anastasia was fast, but nothing like him, and Jackal was not letting her get out of the apartment.

He lunged, the spear in his hand going unused as he aimed to cut her off, bracing himself to let her literally hit him before trying to grab at her arm.

He was faster. The problem was he didn't know her strength. Just how strong was she?

"Bind her!" Jackal roared.

Chloe was already getting the handcuffs out when Jackal shouted. She sprung into action. While she wasn't on Jackal's level, she was still much faster than a human.

With Jackal here, she was a lot less scared about tussling with Ana hand to hand. By herself, she knew Pandora could have overpowered and killed her before her strength draining could put her ahead. Ana would be the same. But now, with Ana outnumbered and injured, Chloe would go for it. She grabbed for Ana's arm, starting to drain Ana's strength as soon as she made contact, trying to twist her arm and get it under control so she could put a power-nullifying cuff on.

These cuffs were very questionably-legal. She didn't want to have to explain them to the police. It didn't help that her already legally-dubious justification for having them (that is, sex) wasn't even the real reason she bought them.

Ana wasn't expecting Jackal to be that fast. She wasn't that worried though when she proved to be a good deal stronger than him. All she had to do was get her fangs into that sweet caramel skin and -

Oh. That was a familiar sensation. She recalled when they were girls, Amber had used her strength draining on her. Or rather when she was a girl. Amber still was. And Ana was feeling the light headed giddiness that came with it. She laughed airily and swing her arm to try and knock Chloe off of her. "Noooooo f-"

She stumbled as the power nullification handcuffs went onto her wrists, and she blinked at it as her strength continued to wane. "-aaair. Oh my aunt Chloe. Bringing out the fuzzy cuffs already? Is this a menage a trois? What would Mom say?"

Jackal backed off the moment the handcuffs snapped into place. He wasn't even going to question the fact that Chloe had a pair of fuzzy (apparently power nullifying) handcuffs. She was with Malara after all. That was just... well, par for the course.

"So," Jackal said pointedly. "Does anyone want to tell me what in the fresh fuck is going on?"

Because there were a lot of details he'd been left out of the loop on. Like... well, any of the actual explanation. He knew that if they killed Ana, Dalia wouldn't get better. But what else? Who were they? What the fuck was even going on?

Chloe wrestled with Ana a bit more, draining her strength further and getting her other wrist behind her in the cuff.

Ana's commentary made Chloe sigh; it definitely got under her skin. The worst part was that this situation did kind of turn her on, and that made her feel even more rotten about it. The way her strength draining made her feel didn't help either. "...Don't say things like that," she said.

Now Jackal wanted an explanation. "Like I said, Ana here is Dalia's demon half. I just learned today she's her own person. From what I can tell, when he was curing Dalia, Mammon took Ana and kept her. As property. And now she wants revenge, and she wants to eat Dalia. And she has something to do with that curse. That sound about right, Ana?"

Whatever Ana and Jackal said, Chloe would start dragging her to the portal. "Let's get her to the beach house before the police show up. They'll just make this mess worse if they get too involved."

"You make it sound so petty and unreasonable, Auntie," which maybe was true. But Ana really did not care about any of that. She had suffered while Dalia got to live it up. She'd been cut out and she hadn't even done anything wrong. It was bias, really. The demon part obviously had to be the bad part.

"Oh a beach house huh? Are we gonna have mojitos? I didn't bring a swim suit. Hope you two don't mind me going naked. I don't want to get sand in this shirt."
