“E-eh? Of course I’m not joking!” What was with this guy?! “Are you implying that – that my owner would have forgotten to clean the cage? She was a – a lovely person, and just because she – just because she went away for a while doesn’t mean she won’t come back, and how could you, really – ”

He stood up with a jerk, one of his books falling apart in a flurry of nearly-blank pages – but for the small squares of ink in their bottom-right corners. Though they flew through the air they landed in a neat pile next to him. “H-honestly, I – she – she was the best owner a bunny could have asked for, and I… I – ” His rant was interrupted by a loud sniffle, and he hugged his arms to himself. “She’s gonna come pick me up from this weird place, and then we can go home again…”

Gareth had apparently touched a nerve. But, more importantly—did this kid even realize what he was defending? Gareth’s expression remained clearly incredulous as he continued to stare down at bunny boy while he continued defending his owner who was apparently a woman.
<p>
Gareth had a moment to wonder if the woman this kid was referring to was, in fact, his mother. The thought touched his own inner nerve as it very personally connected with his own childhood and his own mother. Pages were flying through the air and landing in a neat pile but, for once, Gareth didn't notice.

“Mmmn.” Alfredo was distraught. He was shivering by now, barely able to keep his composure enough not to just curl up into a ball – but at the boy’s last statement he flared up again, pointing a shaking finger at him. “I – I know your type! You’re one of those animal rights people! I’ll have you know it was nice and safe in there, and – and whenever I wanted to come out she’d undo the latch for me, and I had a whole room to run around in, and it was a lot nicer than being out here with all these – these people.” He said the word with a touch of… disgust, maybe? "There's so many. I can barely handle it."

The rabbit was shaking and looked as though he were going to cry—and it gave Gareth a brief moment of conscious. Or, at least awkwardness. He wasn’t quite sure which one it actually was. Either way, he lifted one of his hands to sheepishly run his hand through his own hair.

“I – I know your type!” Bunny boy exclaimed in his frightened little voice and pointed a shaking finger at him, actually coming off as mad and offended as he went on referring to himself as an ‘animal’ and not a ‘human being’.

[color=BA0009]“Pfft, like hell I’m an animal rights person.”[/color] He returned with a bit of his own aggression. [color=BA0009]“Those sick little bastards can stay the hell away from me—cage or no cage. S##t, actually, I prefer them in a cage.”[/color]

He had heard enough of their retarded thoughts to last him a lifetime. God, he hoped one of these so called power classes helped him learn how to shut them the hell up.

“E-eh?” He blinked in confusion when the boy claimed he wasn’t an animal rights person – and then he frowned as he continued, his expression then turning into a downright scowl. “There’s nothing wrong with animals,” he snapped, his anger only growing as he continued. “They’re not sick or anything – don’t talk that way about my family!”

“I haven’t done anything wrong, and you insult my owner, you insult my parents, you – you swear at me – ” He was glaring at the boy, but his focus was, in fact, on the water fountain behind him – which began to fall apart even as he spoke, its components falling onto the ground with a thunk and causing a strong spray to hit the taller boy in the back.

“I-I-I’m usually quite a nice person, but I hope you have a – an absolutely terrible day,” Alfredo huffed, turning his nose up as he picked up his books and began to walk away.

Geez, he knew he was a bit of a jerk but come on. He wasn’t insulting his parents—oh, wait a minute. Did thinking this kid’s mother put him in a cage count for—

Another long slew of foul language rushed from Gareth’s mouth as a geyser practically sprayed him down and soaked him to the bone.

Alfredo jolted right back at the swearing, but – he’d made his decision! He was going to stick with it! Just ignore the scary older boy, just ignore –

He yelped as he was swiped at and bolted like only a rabbit can, squeaking in fear and tearfully darting into the nearest classroom.

As he slammed the door behind him and the teacher and his bewildered class stared at him, he decided – well, there were a whole lot of witnesses here – he was going to be okay, right?

The little flurry of fluff darted down the hallway and sprinted into one of the classrooms not too far down the hall. Gareth was so angry—so angry—that the water soaking him from head to toe began to steam as it evaporated from the sudden surge of body temperature from his core.

[color=BA0009]“S##t, s##t, s##t, s##t..!”[/color] Gareth began to curse and fan himself as he realized he had been about to make a mistake he would sorely regret. He hopped around a bit awkwardly before stopping to breathe in and out at least a half dozen times or so. [color=BA0009]“All right, calm down. Calm down or you’re gonna regret it.”[/color]

With one last, heavy breath, Gareth brought his hands together and began cracking some of his knuckles as he felt himself finally settling down.

[color=BA0009]“Damn, that is not what I expected at all,”[/color] He said aloud as he glanced back down the hallway toward the broken fountain and the classroom little blue eyes had darted away to. [color=BA0009]“Geeze.”[/color]

He wasn’t sure what he expected but it certainly hadn’t been this. Gareth shook his head and shoved his hands into the front pockets of his jeans and began to make his way down the hall in the opposite direction. But he was instantly stopped by his own textbooks (which had dropped to the floor) when he stepped on one.
<p>
Irritation instantly flared back up in the teenager as he stared down at the now soaked books. With a heavy and aggravated sigh, Gareth bent over to snatch the books up and then turn back toward the classrooms with the intention of returning to Mrs. Peacock and getting a new set.
