Appearance Description: Akane is a 17-years-old girl. She is 160cm (5’3’’) tall. Her hair is shoulder-long and orange in color, sometimes decorated with hairpins and ribbon. Akane’s eyes are of different colors - her left, “human eye”, is blue while her right eye is “goddess’ eye” and it’s red. She wears traditional Japanese clothes (kimono) and always puts her kitsune mask, though it rarely covers her face. Sometimes she can be seen carrying red wagasa (Japanese paper umbrella).
Personality Description: Akane is mostly calm and composed, she might seem cold but is actually very friendly and caring towards people who she gets to know better. She is well-mannered and since her role is the one of a peacekeeper, she always tries to avoid conflicts. She is cautious of new people because she is still weak, but is also ready to fight if she or someone dear to her is in danger.
She has a funny and cute side to her personality too, but she shows it only to the closest people.
Powers:
1. Illusion spell - The short-run dark illusions she creates are useful but weak because they serve only to scare or distract opponents, giving her time to hide or prepare for the next move. Such illusions are for example fake earthquake, collapsing ground, fog, nightmare spectacle, or anything else terrifying to the opponent's senses. The trigger word is KURO (meaning: black).
She can also create pleasant illusions (light spell). As opposed to the dark one, light spell has no duration limit and it doesn't exclude Akane, she too is affected by it. The trigger word is SHIRO (meaning: white) and the neutralizing word is OWARI (meaning: end).
Pros: sometimes the dark illusion itself might lead to the conclusion of battle without consequences only by frightening the opponent; dark illusion gives Akane enough time (10-15 seconds) to hide or plan the actual attack; light illusion spell can be used for fun at any occasion, and can be very useful at times (for example: "transforming" an empty spacious room into luxurious ball hall for some event).
Cons: this spell doesn’t make any damage; the time gap between casting two dark illusion spells is a couple of minutes, which gives opponent the opportunity to attack before she is able to charm them again.
2. Kitsunebi (fireball) - Kitsunebi is a powerful weapon and firing it with a good precision can make a serious damage. Though, since it is her newly awakened power Akane is still inexperienced in using it. She also avoids it if possible.
Pros: can make a serious damage; there is no time gap – can fire more of them in a row
Cons: requires a lot of training to master it; can’t use it while the illusion is active, but can switch the standing point during that time to make a surprise attack once the illusion is broken; drains a lot of Akane’s energy making her more vulnerable after each firing.
Biography: Akane was born and raised in a hidden shrine on the Mount Inari, a place inhabited by fox spirits known as kitsune. She is not an ordinary human being herself - she is the first female descendant of Inari Okami (Inari the goddess of kitsune) and therefore it is her destiny to become the next divine protector of the shrine. Since all the other women in Akane’s lineage were of human origin, Akane is currently half-human, but it is all to be changed once she turns 25 and loses all her human features.
By that time she needs to learn what it means to be a divine protector, and that’s why she was sent away to the city.
She left Mount Inari when she was 14 and she first enrolled an ordinary public high school in order to get accustomed to everyday life in the city, but she was transferred to the Starlight Academy as soon as her second power was awakened. The main idea of her attending those schools is to learn all about the existent species and to figure out how to keep peace and balance between their worlds and the world of kitsune which she will rule over someday.
