Rory sat on a park bench waiting for her challenger to approach her. God, this stuff was fun. It was nice getting to compete in something other than physical attributes. Most of her challenges had been... well somewhat easy. They were like games she played as a child.

Quiet Observer had taken to hiding away in a wristband Rory wore to watch the game. She'd barely talked to the guy. He wasn't one much for words, but when he did speak it was rarely friendly, even if he had a hankering for helping everyone with everything. A weird combination, she thought.

Morgan strolled in the park, looking at the benches. He called up one of the other participants of the tournament and asked if they wanted to have a match. He hadn’t quite figured out what kind of match but here he was.

He finally spotted Rory sitting at a bench and walked over. “Uh, are you here for the challenge I called about?” He glanced over his shoulder to check that Moony had still followed. Moony was kind of a nickname they came up together and both found it fit. Plus it was amusing. Morgan quite liked Moony. They got along, maybe not perfectly, but they were both more quiet people. Morgan crossed his arms. “So uh, any idea on what challenge this will be?”

"Yup. That's me. Rory, nice to meet you." She left him space to sit beside her. "As for the challenge... I figured a kind of joke off. You know, whoever loses their composure and laughs first is the loser. Thoughts?"

Morgan sat down on the bench as he thought about. The goggles that would let him see Rory’s species hung around his neck while he had his regular glasses for his eyes. He was tempted to check Rory’s species but eventually decided against it. “Uh... sure. I’m not that great at jokes though.” Nothing gave any indication he was lying. In fact he wasn’t lying, his family always joked about his lacklustre sense of humour.

"You aren't giggly, are you?" Rory asked because that was one of the second major components of the challenge. Rory definitely had a tendency to laugh or giggle when she was nervous. Or, worse, laugh at her own jokes.

Morgan was more the opposite. He could sometimes take a while to understand a joke, and would seriously ask someone to explain one. Even if he did understand the joke, he wasn’t guaranteed to laugh. “My twin says I’m more deprived of giggles.” His right leg bounced a bit. Frankly he was a bit nervous, seeing how he wasn’t the competitive type and that this was his first challenge with this whole tournament thing. “You wanna go first ooor...?”

Rory grinned. "Sure! Uuuh..." She tapped her chin as she tried to recall some jokes she'd heard in the past. Most took a good level of context, inside things, like Jude having shot Condor in the groin.

"Okay, okay. I got one! Little Johnny's father asks him if he knows about the birds and the bees.

"'I don't want to know!' Little Johnny says, bursting into tears.

"Confused, his father asks what's wrong.

"'Oh, Dad,' Little Johnny sobs, 'first, there was no Santa Claus, then no Easter Bunny, and finally, no Tooth Fairy. If you're about to tell me that grownups don't really have sex, I've got nothing left to believe in.'"

Morgan looked more concerned than amused. His lips didn’t even twitch. He shot a worried glance at Moony as he internally debated whether his sense of humour truly was below average. He turned back to Rory. “I... didn’t really get it, sorry-“ He suddenly stopped and his face took a bit of an ‘oooooh’ look. “Ok I get it.” But he didn’t look amused regardless.

He sighed as he thought of a joke. He only knew cheesy ones, and even then he often stumbled over the delivery. “Okaaaay. Here goes. How do you drown a hipster?” He paused for a moment before the final delivery. “Throw him in the mainstream.” You could almost see in Morgan’s eyes the debate on how he ended up here.

Okay, Rory actually couldn't help it. She laughed at that. She had a not-so-secret love for the cheesy and Rory was no stranger to laughing about almost everything.

"Shit. Well... Uh.... Nice win?"

Morgan blinked and actually laughed a little. Mostly because he expected this to last a lot longer than it ended up being. His leg still bounced a little, but nowhere near as much as it used to. He nodded. “Uh, thanks?” He rubbed the back of his neck a bit awkwardly.
