Walking beside Zoraida was her regalia - a tall, dark-haired, attractive man who was very attentive, gentlemanly even, but with a strange despairing air around him that some might find attractive. Zora, to be honest, found her regalia somewhat clingy, nervous at times, almost like a mother hen. His constant hovering and making sure she was okay did not help. She silently wondered if everyone's regalia was as interested in their partner's wellbeing as hers was.

Making her way to the designated spot, a small coffee shop just outside of the downtown area, Zora wandered into the shop wondering who her opponent could be. She had only met a handful of candidates since everyone had all been given different meeting points around the island, and thus, she really had no idea who the others were that had received the strange letter and had decided to play this game.

Sitting down at an empty table, her regalia, Aquarius, stood quietly behind her, hovering almost protectively, while she waited for her opponent to arrive.

Broen had checked out ways to find opponents for this stupid fucking tournament. He wasn't even feeling it anymore, but he had to. The girl walking smugly beside him insisted on it. That was their deal. He had to win, not just participate in, but win five matches without any powers or any outside help.

If he could manage that, she'd use her ability to unlock his powers.

Stepping into the coffee shop, he looked around for whoever might be his opponent while he waited in line. The girl tugged at his sleeve, first demanding he buy her coffee and then pointing Zora out.

"There. That's your opponent."

Broen's eyes fell on Zora and he cursed under his breath. No, he couldn't do this. They'd have to find someone else.

"You want your powers back, don't you little boy?"

Broen's lip twitched as he handed her her coffee. He did. Marching over to the table where Zora sat, he glared back at his partner before addressing his former(?) boss.

"Hey... guess we both joined this thing. You're the one who wanted to have a friendly match?"

Zora heard his voice before she saw him, she had been staring at the coffee she had ordered while waiting. Seeing Broen now made her heart do a flip, her breath catch and she felt like, she didn't know... between wanting to run away but not. Happy and unease all at the same time.

Looking at him and nodding once, she quickly hid her feelings, thinking that this was not going to be an easy match, not when he didn't seem too overly pleased to see her either.

"Yes, I did want a friendly match... if possible," she said glancing at the woman behind him, guessing she was his regalia, "By the way, this is Aquarius. My regalia," she said mentioning the young male standing behind her, who had actually put his hand on Zora's shoulder almost comfortingly.

Then:
"I didn't expect to find you here," Zora added as she eyed Broen over as calmly as she could, actually taking some comfort from her regalia's gesture. Maybe his mother hen hovering presence wasn't so bad after all.

Broen sat down and sipped his coffee, staring first at Zora's Regalia and then at her. His mouth twitched up into a smile and he gave a gentle shrug. "I'm game for a match. I've kind of got my arm twisted in this whole thing."

He picked at his lip, at the scab there. He'd been chewing on it a lot lately. It helped even him out when he got super stressed. "I wasn't expecting you to be in this either. Did you go to the cops? Or like..."

Broen felt a weak slap at his shoulder. Glaring up at his partner he sighed and turned back. "Anyway. If you wanted a challenge, I'll be your opponent. What do you fucks have in mind?"

His last question was more to the Regalia, and get glared slightly between them, waiting for an answer.

"I did," Zora said, giving him a tiny smile, "I wasn't arrested if that's what you wanted to know, just fines, community service..." she added as she took a sip of her coffee, feeling a squeeze then on her shoulder and Zora glanced up at her regalia, realising it wasn't a time for small talk.

Raising an eyebrow at Broen, glancing at the regalia again after she had slapped him, Zora lowered her head slightly for a second and smiled at this, trying not to laugh. Oh boy, his regalia was certainly not one to be toyed with.

"Okay, yes. I was thinking we could do a riddle challenge, maybe? Something fun, perhaps?" Zora suggested as she looked at Broen curiously, having been told to think of something they could both participate in that was on a level playing field as her opponent. And she knew Broen was smart, so maybe this would work, she had no idea actually.

Riddles... Broen looked back at his partner and quirked an eyebrow at her. She said something about not caring what the challenge was as long as there were set rules and they were followed. "Riddles are fine then. What do we want? Just give each other a riddle until one of us can't answer?"

Broen smiled a bit at Zora. "I'm glad you're not in jail. You can start if you want."

"Basically that's the idea, though if either of us needs a hint because a riddle is too hard, we can ask for a hint, but once only... then if we still can't answer, the other wins the challenge," Zora said, thinking it might be fair to allow one hint each instead of sudden death, match over.

"I'll start then," she said, smiling shyly at Broen's words not quite expecting that from him. Taking a second to think, she finally decided on a riddle that wasn't too hard.

"What falls often but never gets hurt?" she asked him with a grin.

Broen let out a slow breath, thinking about this one. It could be a number of things. Night was an obvious one. He looked at Zora, thinking for a moment. Thought about her as a person. He nodded once and said, "Rain?"

Assuming he had it correct, Broen already had one in mind that Zora couldn't possibly get. But the sharp slap to the back of his head made him look up at his partner. Be sporting, her look said. He huffed and took another minute to think.

"Okay. When I'm young, I'm tall. When I'm old, I'm short. The wind is my foe."

Zora just smiled when she heard Broen's answer, yes, it was rain. Of course, he would have gotten that one. It had been fairly easy.

"That's easy, it's a candle," Zora replied without hesitation, and grinned at him, she had actually considered throwing that one out there herself. Not waiting for Broen to reply, Zora threw out the next riddle that came to mind.

"What is easy to get into, but hard to get out of?" she asked evenly, staring at Broen innocently, trying not to grin, since she was actually poking a bit of fun at him with this one.

"Wow. Now you're just making fun of me," he said with a slight grin himself. This was pleasant, at least. His partner was tapping her foot agitatedly, muttering something about the two of them being able to flirt after there was a winner.

"That's easy though. Same thing that seems to follow you, Zora. Trouble." Broen leaned forward a bit, holding onto his coffee.

"Okay. Here's one. A little harder. A box without hinges, key, or lid. Yet inside a golden treasure is hid."
