Elisa Pelham
Elisa sat in her booth, flicking through some pages. These were her notes for the Challenge she had organised with Garrick.

It was a simple riddle game. Garrick was to be given a riddle, and he had 10 minutes to solve it. After getting him to agree to do it, she had been up most of the night, researching good riddles for it, and testing them herself.

Pushing it against the table to flatten it, Elisa then put it down. The waitress was her with her Strawberry Smoothie.

Garrick checked his phone again just to make sure he remembered right. Honestly the whole notion felt weird and freeing for him. It had been a little while now since he finally gave up his perfect memory, and he was still adjusting to not remembering every little detail. It was nice. But he had to actually remember if he got the address right to appreciate it.

Following Garrick was one of his Regalia. His other, the one who could summon all the eyes, had decided to pass on this challenge. But the other was interested in this challenge, because it would be a chance to see whether Garrick was actually cunning. Also because he wanted to see how Garrick would fair against his old pact holder.

So Garrick walked in, looking around the cafe for Elisa. Despite not having perfect memory anymore, he naturally had pretty good memory so he remembered what she looked like pretty easy, despite the single encounter. He also couldn’t shake the feeling he definitively met Elisa before anyway. He walked over and slid into the booth in front of Elisa, giving an award winning smile as he scooted some more to let his Regalia also sit down. “Hi!” He gave a little wave.

"Hey," She said, waving back, taking a sip of her drink. Elisa nodded at pencil-stache, glad to see him again. "So, uh, did you want me to tell you the riddle now, or should we talk first?"

Moving her pages so he couldn't see the writing, Elisa continued. "Do you have any questions before we begin?"

Garrick pondered as he tapped his chin with his index finger. Honestly, he didn’t really have anything to talk about. But he also didn’t want to be rude, he likes to chat with people. But he could also tell his Regalia wanted to see him do the challenge... He sighed the tiniest bit, his fingers started to tap the table.

Finally he stopped his tapping and placed both hands flat on the table. “I would love to chat, but maybe we should get onto the riddle?” He offered a polite smile as he titled his head a bit.

Nodding, She accepted his Decision. Elisa wouldn't have minded talking for a bit. "I guess we can talk later then." Elisa smiled back.

Clearing her throat, she began to read from the paper. The was a fair bit there, but just to begin, she the short paragraph. "You are standing in front of a room with a light bulb inside. You cannot see if it is on or off, currently, but outside the room, there are three switches, none of which are on. You have to find out which switch controls the light bulb inside, but you get to enter the room only once. "

Taking a breath, she smiled at him, pushing a button on her phone, which was now counting down from ten minutes. "Your time starts now. Oh, and no Internet help. It would make it way too easy."

Garrick crossed his arms as he leaned back where he sat. Frankly, he got an idea right away. He ran the words of the riddle through his head a few times, to see if maybe there was a different way. He actually misunderstood the question, a bit. But he had gotten a decently amusing answer as his first guess.

After around a minute and twenty seconds of pondering, Garrick placed his hands on the table again. “Turn on all of the lights, then go inside. It never said that you could only turn on one light at a time.” He cracked a small grin.

She couldn't help but laugh. "I mean, the answer is correct if you want to make sure that the Light is controlled by the switches, but no," Elisa said, glancing at the clock. He didn't take long.

"Eight minutes and forty seconds to go, Garrick, you can do it!"

He leaned back in his seat again, a frown appeared on his face. He held his chin as he thought it. To anyone who looked at him, he genuinely looked like he was pondering. To be honest, he really was. His Regalia looked really intrigued, and even attempted to poke Garrick on the arm, who immediately swatted his finger away. As usual, he looked shocked.

After an additional five minutes or so, bringing his total time to eight minutes and second seconds, Garrick suddenly opened his eyes and looked at Elisa. He had a grin, and a shine in his eye that could only mean I have an answer. "I have an answer! You turn two of the switches on..." He left a little suspense before he continued his explanation. "Then after a while, you turn one of them off. You go into the room. If the light is on, then the one switch you left on is the switch. If it's not, then touch the light bulb. If it's warm, then the switch you just turned off was the one you need. If it's cold, it's the switch you didn't flip." He crossed his arms, a content smile on his face. His Regalia nodded in approval.

Elisa just whistled slowly. " I almost got you there. I only needed another minute and I would have won." She said with a laugh.

"So, uh, that's your win." Elisa passed the paper to him, displaying that he did, in fact, have the right answer. There was also a few scribbled out answers, showing her own working out from before he arrived. "Is it too late to ask for a rematch?"

Garrick's Regalia gave him a congratulatory pat on Garrick's shoulder, and he smiled. He couldn't help feeling a little proud. Garrick would say pretty quick that he wasn't the best at riddles, so to be able to get it made him happy. The fact it was so close as well made it so much more rewarding.

He received the paper from Elisa, and had a good look through it. His Regalia also peaked to look at Elisa's own workings. He eventually looked back up at Elisa, and passed the note back over to her. "Well, I was hoping to just have a bit of a conversation to be honest. I haven't been able to have a conversation about this tournament with anyone else in the tournament." He crossed his arms casually.
