Ava had to practically drag her regalia over to where she and Rory were going to have their challenge. The old lady wasn't exactly a fan of sports and even now she was sending Ava a tired disapproving look. Ava rolled her eyes and wondered if this was how it felt to have a grandmother.
"Come on, I told you I suck at artsy stuff! Parkour is my thing."
Ava huffed and continued powerwalking only to slow down constantly to wait for her regalia. She huffed right back at Ava and yawned afterwards.
"You should at least give it a try. Listen to me if you want to win this tournament, young lady."
Yup, definitely getting those grandma vibes.
Eventually the two arrived and Ava grinned and waved at Rory.
"Okay, let's get this party started!"

This was one of the only times Rory hadn't brought her regalia with her to a challenge. She didn't think they'd be able to keep up if she was jumping from place to place and giving it her all.

"Okay!" Rory grinned back. "But, uh, warning, I don't get tired and I've done a lot of parkour. You sure you still want to do this? Also, we want to make it some kind of race, yeah? What's the goal?"

Ava scoffed a bit and waved her hand dismissively at Rory. Her regalia gave Rory a nod before glancing at Ava one more time disapprovingly.
"I've done parkour since I was 4, I think I can handle it. Hey Izzy, you can go take a nap somewhere, this will be very athletic. I'll text you or come fetch you after."
Ava's words, or more like just the word "athletic" made Ava's regalia Izzy yawn and she meandered over to a bench and sat down. She was out in half a second.
"Okay, now that she's handled, you know that one tall building made out of glass about 4 blocks from here? How about that? And using the main street is forbidden."

Rory laughed at Ava's regalia. She turned her attention back to Ava, gauging whether her cockiness was arrogance or worthy. "Alright, that works for me. Let's go on three?"

Ava was doing some casual stretches, reached for her toes and stretched her biceps, as Rory spoke and she had a small confident grin on her face.
"Okay then. On three."
Ava took a position where she could start sprinting at a moments notice.
"One...two...THREE!"
And they were off.

The second three was said, Rory leaped off the ground. Her foot caught the nearest building and she barely had to think before kicking off.

Rory was good at parkour. Great at it, actually. The one thing she hadn't thought of? She didn't know this city well, probably not as well as Ava. Without using the main street, Rory wasn't actually sure of the best approach to get to that large building. But she had to try anyway!

Ava started to sprint at full speed from the start, maybe feeling bit overconfident as usual. She took a different route than Rory and basically flew up a fire escape and then jumped to a wall of the next building, scaling it. Ava was feeling comfortable, before she had moved to Manta Carlos before summer she had mainly done parkour in a forest environment, running over slippery rocks and splintered logs. It gave sureness to her step to be running on pavement in an urban environment.
But Ava got tired fast even though she took the shortest route she knew. She had ran on these streets for almost 4 months now and had ran this exact same spread many times. Ava jumped from rooftop to rooftop and dashed through alleys, never losing sight of the goal.
Near the glass building Ava got tunnel vision and didn't even see Rory or her surroundings anymore. She just saw the building, her goal, she had to reach it first. Ava started her final sprint and before long she touched the glass surface of the building, basically heaving her lungs out. She looked pretty lame, honestly.
Did she win?

Rory was there only a split second after Ava. It was easier to navigate the city on the top of roofs, or when kickflipping off the side of a building. She landed beside Ava, having hit the glass building somewhere a few feet up from a jump a roof or two away.

Ava straightened from the slight hunch she had been in and looked at Rory, still panting a bit. Rory really wasn't tired, that was a damn handy thing to have. Ava swallowed and grinned a bit.
"Well, did I beat you or did I beat you?"
Ava snickered a bit, she was mostly joking.

"By the skin of your teeth," Rory said with a nod. She looked at the building as if studying it. Rory sighed and rubbed the back of her neck, taking a moment she didn't need to rest muscles that weren't sore.

"I don't know these streets well enough for a race, yet."
