Travis settled in on a bench in the courtyard with... well a rather grumpy looking old man. It had been a couple days and he just wasn't getting along with his regalia in spite of several attempts. He didn't hate the guy, but he didn't like him enough to keep making attempts. They could do better with different partners. He gave him a look, which was met with a nasty glare.

"Look man, it's not working out we... we gotta find people who work for us," he sighed. The old man seemed to consider this, and finally spoke up.

"That.. we can agree on at least."

Sam wasn't even attempting to get along with his regalia. The grumpy little child was almost as bad as the freak he was already stuck with, and he wasn't going to try being organized for anyone. He'd been trying to get rid of them the moment he found out, but really it was mostly just walking up to random strangers and asking if they wanted a kid.

As secretly amused as Ian was by this, he felt sorry for the child, and a little concerned. So he was helping Sam, trying to point out people who actually had a regalia, even though the other guy rarely paid attention to any of it.

He overheard the large guy speaking with the old looking man and timidly motioned towards them. Sam hadn't really been paying attention, but he ran over before Ian even had the chance to speak. "Hello! I have an annoying child... thing... that I want to trade. He gives you sound powers." He'd completely forgotten that he was supposed to try and be polite.

"Oh coo- what?" Travis blinked and looked up at this guy. He squinted for a moment unsure of how to respond. The old man was looking at him expectantly. He was just offering his regalia with no warning or anything. He'd just roll with it then, that seemed like the best play.

"I mean, cool let's trade em up then. Maybe you can do better with this guy. Says he grants the ability to see through mirrors. Maybe you could make better use of that. Plus... we're just not meshing well at all."

Sam was a little taken aback by this guy's quick agreement, Just because he was used to people either not having any idea what he was talking about, not wanting to trade, or whining about how annoying he was when that wasn't the point. The boy frowned at the old geezer, but anything had to be better than this salty child currently standing around with a pathetic look on his face. Except - "See through mirrors? Isn't that what mirrors are for?" That power seemed kind of lame.

Ian also was surprised, but he stayed in the background a bit to let this play out. An old man should be able to tolerate Sam better than the kid... maybe... hopefully.

"No, no like you can look through at someone else through a mirror without being anywhere near the mirror," Travis sighed at having to explain any of it at all. "Spy shit, but magic."

He sighed and looked at the kid. Of course the kid had sound manipulation. That was something Travis could actually make better use of long term. Still, he was getting impatient, so was the old man.

"Look are we gonna do this or not?"

"Spy shit?.... Well it's something. I can't stand this little brat." Sam spat out, and the child didn't look to happy with Sam either. The regalia rolled their eyes with a bitter grimace, just wanting this to be over, probably even more than the one trading.

"Yes, let's do this. Get it over with." It never occurred to the redhead that he had no idea how to actually trade.

Ian spoke up, almost instantly regretting it. "ummmm... How?"

"Like this," the old man said. Then he stood and walked over to Sam's side. He motioned for the child to go over to Travis. It was a really simple process. Once with their partners they would form new pacts and be on their way. It wouldn't take very long at all.

"We can do this and be on our merry way"

The child went over to Travis gladly, or at least with a slightly less disgruntled expression than they had with Sam.

Sam glanced at his new spirit guy, agitated, and only standing still long enough for the pact to work. "All right old man, do your thing." In spite of how abrasive he was being, he really did want something of his own that wasn't related to the little freak he was stuck with.

Ian almost rolled his eyes, but he didn't want to start anything. Everything about this game had been a bad idea. Still... maybe it would get Sam off his back. He made sure to say a small "Thanks" to Travis before they all left.
