"Over here," a dark-haired man said as he led Sterling towards the park. The angel's first ever challenger was somewhere waiting close by. The two, Sterling and his rival, had actually spoken beforehand, set up a time, they had even talked about trading regalias. And while Sterling liked his regalia, he simply preferred someone a bit older, more mature, worldly. Somebody ancient, old, like himself. He may have looked eighteen but deep down, the two thousand plus-year-old angel, felt more like a wizened old man at times, and so, knew he needed a better fit if he was going to do a bond with one of them.

Ava was just lounging on the grass, and by a picnic table somewhere right from her were sitting two elderly people. One was a man with gray hair and a beard and sturdy build, Ava's brand new partner in this tournament. The other was an elderly lady who had white hair and a rather sagely, tired expression. She yawned and tugged a travel pillow under her neck, one that Ava had given her.
"Hey kiddo, when's this guy going to show up? We've been waiting for 25 minutes."
Ava rolled onto her stomach and shrugged at the older man, for now nicknamed Fred.
"You were the one who wanted to come earlier, that's why we've been waiting for so long."
Fred huffed a bit and crossed his arms.
"It's common sense to come to a meeting earlier than normal."
"Now now, you two. There's nothing wrong with enjoying little outside air. I'm the one being traded here, and I'm completely calm."
The old lady, nicknamed Izzy, said with a low, sleepy tone and leaned her elbows on the table. Both Fred and Ava just huffed and shrugged and resumed waiting.

After a short while Ava and Fred both perked a bit when someone approached them. Ava recognized the dude from when they had talked earlier, and jumped up. With the guy there was a teenage boy, who looked around Ava's age. He could help Ava make acid. That was wicked cool.
"Yo! Nice of you to show up, how's it going?"
Ava grinned and perched her hands on her hips. Behind her Fred had stood up by the table and Izzy was still seated, and observed the pair that had just artive calmly. Both of the regalia nodded in a greeting.

Sterling spotted the girl pretty much right away when his regalia pointed in the direction where she had been waiting. The curly red hair gave her away as well as the other regalias around her which Sterling easily recognised as they drew closer to the girl and her companions.

"Hello there, you're the person I talked to on the phone, Ava? Sorry if we are a bit late, we weren´t sure which part of the park it was and ended up at the other end" Sterling apologized as he took in the young woman´s regalia curiously.

"This is my regalia," Sterling said as way of introduction, "We decided on John, a temporary name, since giving me his real name and we aren´t going to bond seemed somewhat wrong." Sterling confessed as he stuck his hands in his back pockets.

Fred came to stand by Ava's side when the guy, Sterling was it, and his regalia came over. Izzy merely turned enough so she didn't have to twist her neck to look at them. Ava nodded briskly at Sterling's question and saluted a bit.
"No problem, we came here ridiculously early anyway so it's our fault too."
Ava raised a brow at Fred and as an answer to that Fred just flipped some curls on Ava's face and made her smirk. On the side Izzy smiled a bit at that.

"John, huh? 'Kay, I'll keep calling you that then. Good to meetcha. And these are my regalia, Fred and Izzy. Those are temporary names too, my great naming sense is just crystal clear from them."
Ava snickered and made Fred roll his eyes a bit. Izzy yawned slightly but was observing Sterling with rare interest, and so was Fred.
"I'll just get to the point, but we're here to trade, right? Wanna get on with the challenge? I brought some stuff with me for it."
Ava grinned and gestured over to the picnic table, where there was a bag next to Izzy.

John looked at Ava now with curious interest, he then glanced at Fred and Izzy too, sizing up quietly the other regalia and after a moment came to a satisfied conclusion which showed on his face.

Sterling looked toward the picnic table and then at Ava, "Sure, i am up for pretty much anything. What did you have in mind?" he asked as he followed Ava over to where Izzy was sitting, nodding politely as he took a seat beside her.

Ava jogged over to the table and snatched her bag from next to Izzy before Sterling sat next to her. Ava circled the table and sat on the opposite side, Fred remained standing, his arms loosely crossed. He was standing little behind Ava in her left side. Ava basically dumped the inside of the bag on the table, it was just three red plastic cups and an orange ball Ava caught with a quick move before it fell off the table. Ava put the cups on the table upside down and toyed with the small ball, looking at Sterling with a small grin.
"You know this game, right? I put the ball under one of the cups, shuffle them and you guess which cup the ball is under. We go, say, three times, and the one who wins more times wins. We can add more rounds if we both rule or suck. Sound good?"

"I do!" Sterling said as he saw the items tumble out of the bag and quickly the cups and ball together and knew what game she had in mind. "You want to do a game of finding under which cup the ball is. A carnival game?" Sterling said with a wide grin.

"Great! Then we can cut to the chase. You start this round. I shuffle and you guess. You go three times and then I go three times, who guesses right more often wins."
Ava answered and grinned right back at Sterling. She slipped the ball under the cup on the right and started shuffling, pretty fast but not at high speed yet. She wanted to scope out how good this guy was. After a while she finished, and she knew the ball was under the middle cup.
"'Kay then, guess away."

"Alright, go for it," Sterling said with a wide grin at Ava's enthusiasm. He had never done anything like this before and had a feeling she was very good at what she at it. However, Sterling liked a challenge so this fit him perfectly.

"It's under the middle one, I think." Sterling said after a few seconds.

Sterling guessed right, and Ava lifted the cup with a small smirk, revealing the ball under it. So the guy had sharp eyes, good to know.
"Got it right. That's one for you. Okay then, round two."
Ava put the cup back on top of the ball anf started shuffling. This time it was a lot faster, enough to make the cups look like a blur. Ava even lifted the cups in the middle of the shuffle and moved the ball between cups. Finally she stopped, and even she was not sure which cup the ball was under. She guessed the left one.
"Okay, guess."
