appearance
In his human form, Ada stands as a proud military man in his late thirties. He carries himself with dignity and respect, some might say an air of superiority. His clothes are well kept, tending towards dark greens and neutral grays and browns. He dresses heavily regardless of the season, often wearing a long coat reminiscent of those worn by military officers even in the summer. Ada carries a simple steel dagger sheathed and belted to his hip at all times. In his human form, he also wears a collar around his wrist, a simple black bangle that is a charm that keeps him in said form.
With his dark skin and facial structure, Ada doesn’t appear very European despite his name and light German accent. His teeth primarily give him away as nonhuman. Instead of a mouth full of normal, separate teeth, the top and bottom 'sets' are instead solid bony ridges in his mouth. Ada’s left eye, the one he normally leaves uncovered, is a light brown color. His right eye, which he normally keeps shut, is a bright, unnatural red color.
His body is a road map of scars. The most obvious is the massive gash that crosses from his left eyebrow to his right cheek, a gift from his superiors the first time he failed to kill a target. Other scars tell of fights with animals up to and including bears, close encounters with explosives both military grade and improvised, and several fires and brandings. The largest brand is a Swastika held in the talons of an Imperial Eagle burned onto his shoulder.
When his collar comes off, Ada changes into something else entirely. His true form, the form of the Crocotta. He becomes a quadrupedal beast roughly the size of a fully grown lion. His head resembles that of a hyena with a mane of pale fur crowning his head and shoulders. His bony tooth ridges grow and shift, becoming jagged and almost fang-like. His body is covered in dark brown fur mottled with the same paler fur as his mane. His feet end in cloven hooves with sharp spurs protruding from the back of his ankles. He also sports a long tail tufted at the end with fur. He retains all of his major scarring in this form, as well as his bright red left eye.

personality
On the surface, Ada is a dedicated member of the Starlight Academy Scouts. He is active in the community, helping out with a number of projects and organizations. He is punctual, polite, and positive. When not at work or volunteering somewhere, he can be found tending to the garden behind his home, working out, or else sharing a few beers with friends from work or around town. He is, all in all, a very good citizen. He treats every task he is given as if it is deadly important, making sure that he gives one hundred and ten percent in any endeavor he undertakes. He is meticulous in both his preparations and his methods, as is fitting for a soldier.
Behind closed doors, his attitudes shift considerably. While he still cares deeply for his community and those in it, this affection does not extend to humans. He loathes humans as much as humans themselves loathe rats or roaches. He sees himself and other non-human persons as being objectively superior to humans in every way. Mages and other humans who artificially lift themselves up to the realm of superiority are the worst of the lot, like vermin teaching itself to speak and drive a car and thinking that makes it as good as any human.
In terms of true passion, Ada has little beyond the thrill of a hunt. It is only when he is shed from the human form he detests so much that he feels truly alive. He chooses more challenging candidates for prey when he is able; mages, humans with inborn powers, and the like. Bringing these types low before him gives him the greatest amount of satisfaction of any hunt he goes on.

powers
Augen Auf - The Hunter’s Eye.
As part of the experimental magic cast upon him as a mere pup, Ada’s right eye was given the ability to see several seconds into possible futures, giving him insight into what an opponent or prey might do. This allows him, when used with his already keen predator instincts, to anticipate the movements of his target and outmaneuver them.
This ability s always active so long as the eye is viewing anything other than pure darkness. Seeing through this eye for too long (more than an hour or so nonstop) causes extreme headaches and dizziness. This is why Ada keeps is covered by an eye patch out in public, so he doesn’t have to continually hold it shut.

species powers
Crocotta.
The Crocotta is a predator from India or Ethiopia, most often described as a kind of wolf-dog, or else resembling a cross between a hyena and a lion. They are known to be able to switch their biological sex at will, though Ada himself cannot do this with his human shape charm on.
First and foremost, crocotta are incredibly fast and strong, easily able to lift roughly ten times the average human limit and run slightly faster than a racehorse. This extends to their bite force as well, which is comparable to that of a saltwater crocodile.
The Crocatta can also mimic sounds, including the voices of specific people, so long as they have heard the noise before. For deception this works better in shorter bursts rather than longer bits of dialogue. While most crocotta cannot mimic the sounds of machinery, Ada was specifically trained to be able to do this.
A known enemy to dogs as well as men, crocatta have magical abilities to deal with canids and other beasts. Any bestial creature who makes eye contact with the crocotta is paralyzed with fear. This affects all non-sapient beasts without fail, but sapient ones (such as werewolves and other crocotta) get a chance to asset themselves as the dominant predator, nullifying the ability entirely. It might work on a lesser werewolf, or one freshly turned. But an Alpha, or even a Beta, it would be useless against.
It is an established fact that steel weapons cannot harm a crocotta, and in fact will graze off of Ada’s skin harmlessly. This offers no special protection from weapons made of other materials or attacks with things like acid or fire, or magical attacks.
Beyond these, the crocatta is an apex predator, and has the instincts and senses associated with that. Enhanced hearing, sight, and smell are the most obvious. But also an uncanny ability to move stealthily, stalk and ambush prey almost anywhere. Weaknesses.
As a man-eater, Ada’s physical well being is dependent on a steady intake of human flesh. He gets most of his meals legally through the butcher shops, but there is nothing better than a fresh kill. He can go, at most, three weeks before his need to go on a hunt for something more than the processed crap. He usually spends as much free time as he can after a kill planning for the next one.
A combination of his military training and the abuse he suffered, Ada is a serious control freak. Everything must be just so, or he has a bit of a breakdown, starts getting angry. Shouting, cussing, threatening. If the issue is fixable but isn’t being fixed, he can and will turn violent.

biography
Adalwolf’s first memories are of pain. Purchased by occult researchers in Germany in the year 1915, he was used as a test subject for a plethora of magitech experiments. Poked, prodded, and injected with who knows what, every day for the crocotta pup was agony, and every night was the slow, dull throb of magic knitting his bones back together.
Their crowning achievement, the researchers thought, was turning this feral creature into the enlightened form of man. This was no glamour, but a mockery of the same processes that caused werewolves to transform. It was torture, having one’s skeletal structure magically changed and twisted into something it was not meant to be. In this human form, a pup turned into a child, Adalwolf was subjected to even more experimentation, but also education. He was taught to read, to write. Mathematics and basic science came soon after. He was taught how to fight in his human form as well. Success in his studies allowed him to spend his nights in his natural form, eased from the constant pain his bodily rearrangement caused him. Failure meant that pain would instead be made worse by he application of corporal punishment. There were several times that Ada was beaten within and inch of his life. But he was always kept alive, healed back to normal.
As he got older, his training became more focused. He was to be a soldier. His education became more like indoctrination, endearing him to the State that held him prisoner. Germany had lost the war, but there were whispers. They would rise again, bigger and stronger than ever. Adalwolf’s training went well, and so he was sent on missions. His first mission went disastrously. Not used to being outside of the compound he was normally kept in, the sensory overload in his right eye caused him to falter and fumble. He failed to kill his target. The fear of failure was almost more painful than having his face slived open y his commanding officer. Almost, but not quite. He was left to heal on his own, leaving him with a nasty scar to remind him not to fail again.
In 1930, Ada was officially turned over to the Schutzstaffel, the SS, as a member of their general policing force. He was kept on a short leash, as always, but here he had more freedom to be himself. It was immensely freeing, having an entire portion of the population he could menace and devour without repercussion. Here he let his malice show. He would purposefully let malcontents go, let them think they had escaped the SS, only for his superiors to remove the enchantment that kept him in human form and unleash their wolf-hound upon the fleeing vermin. He held no real personal vendetta against those hated by the Third Reich, at least not beyond the natural contempt he feels towards any creature weak enough to allow itself to be prey.
As the second world war raged on, Ada was kept in his hidden bunker more and more. He hated being cooped up, and it began to show in his behavior. He became angrier, less willing to be controlled. And so he was locked into his human form 24/7 as punishment, left chained to a wall where he couldn’t assault the others. On the day of the Normandy landings, Ada’s bunker was all but abandoned, the crocotta left behind to rot in his cell. He eventually broke out of his chains, but he could not remove the collar that was the focus of his human transformation. It had been on too long, too tight, and had fused to his neck. He made his way to the surface and hid among the homeless populace. Stalking and eating whomever he pleased in the wake of the war.
For nearly a decade, he lived like this, an almost feral human hunting and killing on the fringes of society. He was found by scouts from Manta Carlos when his killing garnered too much attention, and was incarcerated with the purpose of rehabilitating him. During this time his collar was also surgically removed, allowing him to return to his natural form. He seemed to make progress, and by the summer of 1961, Ada was a free dog.
Ada got himself a glamour so that he could function in society better than he could in his natural form. He then caught up on the education he missed, the parts he wasn’t taught because it didn’t feed into the narrative of his training. Once he graduated, Ada went on to get himself a doctorate in Psychology. But instead of teaching or becoming a therapist, he decided to join the Scouts.
Since his release from incarceration, Ada’s killings have not stopped. He is careful about whom, how often, and where he kills, spreading his hunts out far enough apart to keep suspicion off of himself. Most of his hunts happen off island, so he works a lot. He also gives a portion of his paycheck in secret to Citizens Against Evil to fuel unrest between humans and supernatural beings.

additional info
Ada is fluent in German and French and conversational in English.
The inscription on his dagger reads “Mehr sein als scheinen” (Be more than you appear to be).
His focus of study during his doctorate program was Social Psychology.
He has a trunk containing his SS uniform in a shadowbox as well as several bars of gold that he keeps as a contingency if he ever needs to flee the island.
He primarily hunts humans off the island, and uses his frequent trips as a Scout to justify this.
