Sprinkles took Bel's hand. All of this felt like a bad idea. Any second now, the police would catch him getting high at seventeen. Or worse: his dad would find out somehow and be disappointed in him.

No. Everything will be fine. Focus on Bel talking. She's used to this party stuff. She wouldn't let me get in trouble. Repeating that in his head managed to calm his nerves a bit. The awful thoughts never disappeared, but they spoke quieter now.

"That... sounds amazing... I've just gotten out of a recent breakup... My boyfriend couldn't come here since he was human..." Sprinkles clenched Bel's hand a bit tighter. It was painful talking about his past life this way, but it was the only way he wouldn't be judged.

"I'm sorry. I got too personal. So, wait, is Beltane a completely separate person inside of you? You said you're her vessel. I'm confused..."

Taking Sprinkles hand, Bel squeezed it warmly and reassuringly.

"Breakups are so hard sometimes," she sighed deeply and understandingly. Bel certainly understood heartbreak better than most. Looking sideways then at Sprinkles, not sure if it was the weed or not, but they looked like they needed a hug. And so, Bel sat up properly, got to her feet and, while still holding their hand, and gave him a quick, but reassuring hug.

"Your boyfriend? Where is he now?" Bel asked kindly, now giving Sprinkles her full attention as she sat back down in her chair that she'd immediately pulled closer to them.

"Oh, I am her reincarnation, she is... up there somewhere," Bel told Sprinkles looking at the night sky above them. "She, well, I was born as her, but I am not her if that makes sense. Like I have most of her powers and all her memories, I remember everything, and I mean everything any previous Bel ever did," she told him in hushed tones, "It's quite wild actually." she confessed.

Why did he speak about the past? Speaking at all was a mistake. But when Bel hugged him, he realized just how lonely he was. Nowadays, he wasn't hugged as much, so each hug he cherished.

"My boyfriend is, well... I'm not sure. I was taken—... I left too fast to keep in contact. I'll need to get a human charm to visit him, probably. It's... It's really complicated. If I went into it anymore, you'll judge me..."

Sprinkles let himself go limp. He was too tired to be this sad, and a party wasn't a place you cried in. "Thank you for the hug. That really helped a lot... And, yeah, it sounds wild. No wonder you feel so mature right now. You have way more life experience than me, technically."

Bel glanced then at Sprinkles, seeing how miserable he sort of looked, compassion clearly written on her face now. "Believe me, I am not one to judge anyone - ever," she stated very gently but firmly. Whatever Sprinkles had going on would never be anywhere near to the problems she had with Sam - or so she thought.

"I also have problems with my boyfriend, problems so big that they can't probably ever be fixed," she said opening up a little to Sprinkles. Though, even in her weed induced state, Bel was hesitant still to tell Sprinkles the whole truth.

Smiling at this Bel moved her chair even closer and gave Sprinkles another big hug. "You looked like you needed a hug," she said truthfully as she pulled back and smoothed his hair just wanting to comfort him somehow.

Sprinkles nodded. He understood immensely how it felt to have problems that could never be fixed. He was somewhat aware that he wouldn't be able to go back to the exact life he had before. If he wanted anything close to what he had before, compromises would need to be made.

The hug brought Sprinkles out of his quiet brooding. That, and his hair being smoothed. That felt really nice. "I really did, but if you want to hear... Ah, well... I don't know. It involves my dad... and... yeah..." He let himself trail off, thinking that was enough information to get the idea Sprinkles was going for. If Bel responded cruelly, he could then make up some story for his vague words.

Bel kind of got where the story might be going, and probably of all the people Sprinkles could chose to talk to, she was the one who would probably understand the most, "If you want to talk about it, you can," she said encouragingly as she continued to lightly play with one of his tresses, curling it around a finger and letting it form ringlets. His hair was so amazingly soft.

Sprinkles let out a soft purr, then continued. He felt awful dumping his emotional baggage on Bel, but whenever he opened his mouth, he just seemed to say something depressing. His mind felt too hazy to truly decide if talking about this was a good or bad idea.

"Tell me if I'm getting too personal. I don't want to make you uncomfortable," he said tiredly. "How do I explain it... It's complicated. I was made because of him and we built a relationship a lot of people would find weird. He was the only person I saw in real life before, so... I don't know. It was natural. I was happy like that. But that didn't work with the scouts. And now I'm here."

Bel listened quietly and with interest, just waving away Sprinkles concerns. She wasn't sure there was anything that would shock her truthfully. She had centuries of memories that weren't hers, but were, and some things truly made her blush at times.

As Sprinkles talked, Bel continued to listen, she had sort of heard the whispered rumors around the school about the nek0s. Not that she had paid too much attention, she had been too focused on her own grief that it hadn't seemed all that important at the time.

"Nek0s were created as companions, no?" Bel asked Sprinkles quietly, guessing where this was headed. And truthfully, in her mind, it was totally understandable that Sprinkles missed the one he loved.

"And now you miss that person, and can't have him because it's seen as wrong by others?" she said, looking at Sprinkles with sadness and complete understanding.

Bel didn't give a judgemental look or treat him like an abused child. The weed may have been making her feel out of it, or maybe she was good at hiding her emotions. Whatever it was, Sprinkles was so surprised he ended up too stunned to answer her question for several seconds.

"Yes, exactly. I like it here sometimes... being able to see new things... but I miss when things were simple. I've seen some people talk about that when they're adults. How they miss the simple days of childhood. I sort of feel like that now..."

Oh, how Bel could relate to that. For her, even a month or so ago was a simpler, less complicated time. She would give anything, and she meant anything, to go back to before things went sour and turned her life upside down.

Feeling the effects of the hit of weed wearing off somewhat, or maybe she just felt like it was and she really was still a bit stone, Bel sat up a bit and started, very absentmindedly, twisting the ring Sam had given her.

"Life is a real bitch sometimes," she stated with a heavy sigh, deciding that life definitely had a mean streak sometimes and liked to steamroll everything in its path regardless of anyone's feelings or how badly it affected them.

"Do you think you'll ever get to see your dad again?" Bel asked with a sad curiousness.
