She half grinned. "Of course." She was closer now, and listening for it; her power was working a bit better. "Are you - you're reevaluating my worth, aren't you?" He was a little bit shorter then her; she changed her age estimate to fourteen. "Starting to think I'm a little wrong in the head?" She took another puff on her cigarette, chewing on her lip in thought. "I am, really, I am... But not in the way you think."

"Me? A telepath?" She scoffed, crossing her arms defensively. "Telepaths are spoiled, thoughtless beings. They don't have to work for anything; they get what they want, when they want it." A telepath. She frowned. "I was halfway through my psychiatric degree when they found out about my powers." Her eyes were boring holes into nothingness, remembering.

"So they stick me here." She muttered the words, more to herself then to anyone else; she didn't expect the boy to hear or care. "Besides, it's not the most uncommon response to me, thinking I'm insane."

She grinned, stubbing out her cigarette. She wasn't exactly surprised that he was leaving, and she was glad that he was the one doing so. It just seemed rude to her, to walk off after he'd done her a favor of sorts. "Thank you, boy." She held out her hand for her cane, turning and walking in the opposite direction.

Now, what to have for lunch?
