"Smelly.. Smelly egg?" James asked, a bit confused by Marluxa's "taunt." Unfortunately any answer to his question would have to wait, as the alien shot up the stairwell, not on the stairs, but instead using the railings to launch themselves up with tremendous speed.

"It's not a race!" he yelled up towards Marluxa, before shaking his head and setting off up the stairs at a slow pace, making sure the stairs weren't about to cave underneath him.

"Ears up up friend James!"

"Huh?" James yelled, unsure of why Marluxa was yelling at him. Looking up towards the alien, he soon got his answer, as a metal rod slammed into the railing next to him, nearly catching his hand, and visibly damaging the railing, before the metal bar clanged loudly against the bottom of the stairwell, echoing throughout.

"Shit..." He muttered, before yelling back up towards Marluxa "You good?!" he yelled. Not waiting for a response, he ran up the stairs, quickly catching up to Marluxa. After doubling over to catch his breath, he looked at the alien, who seemed unharmed. "Shit.. that was close.. you good?"

"Yes yes, Marluxa good good!" assured Marluxa, disposing of the other metal rods safely on the floor in a way that they won't fall off later. As they they waited for James to catch up, Marluxa inspects themselves for any injuries but found nothing but a scrap on their arm and rash on their tail.

"Rhmmm... James ready ready to continue to Marlua's perch perch spot?" asked Marluxa, whom seemed entirely unfazed by the whole incident. Even before James gives his answer Marluxa was already opening the door to and onto the rooftops.

"We go go this way friend James!" chittered Marluxa as they are ready to lead James to what looked like perhaps was once a clockwork?

James

James was relieved when Marluxa said they were fine. It had been a close call to be sure, but they'd both managed to escape unharmed.

"Ye.. Yeah, let's keep going." He said, still a bit shaken by everything that had happened. but trying to hide it. Letting Marluxa take the lead, the pair worked their way to the rooftop. As they walked out of the building, James was blinded by the sun, and stumbled around a little bit as his eyes adjusted.

After a few moments, he cast a look around the rooftop, which was mostly empty, aside from a clockwork that had been mostly claimed by the elements. Following Marluxas lead towards it, he didn't really see the "perch" the alien was so keen to show him, but figured they'd find it eventually.

As Marluxa approaches the ruined tower they instinctively start climbing up but after a few steps they recalled some important information: James can't climb vertical walls. Realizing their error, they hop back down to the rooftop and stands next to James.

"Rmmmhhmmm... Marluxa's perch perch on most tippy top top. Marluxa usually climb climb up because door locked locked. Rhmmm..." they strike a thoughtful thinking posture, tapping their chin with one hand while scratching their head with another while the other two arms cross int front of their chest.

"Oh! How much friend James weight weight? Marluxa can carry carry up up! Or Marluxa find rope rope for James to use to scale scale the wall?" proposed Marluxa

James

James just stared as Marluxa scaled the wall by climbing straight up it. He figured that that must've been how Marluxa had gotten to the bottom of the building when they had first met.

"Hundred eighty eight." he said in response to the question about his weight, he didn't know how much weight Marluxa could carry, and he didn't want to chance falling. Climbing wasn't his strong suit, but at least then it'd be his own fault if he fell.

"Rope probably works best, but if you think you can do it, I'm not gonna stop you."

Marluxa was unsure if James wanted to be carried or not based on his answer but figured she should at least look for a rope to explore if that was even an option.

"Rmmmhmmm... Marluxa will search search for rope rope! But Marluxa can carry carry friend James if no rope found found. Wait wait here here and enjoy view view!" chimed Marluxa before they propel themselves back onto the tower wall.

They scaled their way to the top and scrounges around the leftover materials for anything of use. Finding nothing on top, they descend down to the base of the tower and finds one of those fire-hose boxes that was loose enough to pry open.

"Perfect perfect!" cheered Marluxa as they began to pull the hose out.

As they pulled out the hose to estimate it length they were unsure if they had enough length to go up the tower and throw it over the railing. But maybe they can get it through the rooftop somehow and climb it back up the tower? Jostling the door the nearby door handle, they found that they could open it from their side and was not back on the rooftop.

"Friend James! Marluxa found rope rope!" declared Marluxa triumphantly as they exit the door into the tower, waddling their way over to James as happy as they can be.

James

While Marluxa ran off to try to find a rope, James took in the "view" like Marluxa had suggested. Granted, there wasn't much to look at. Some of the buildings looked like they were on the verge of falling apart, and the others didn't look much better.

Eventually Marluxa returned with what looked to be a hose. "Oh, nice! I think if you can get it up to the perch, I can climb up." He wasn't quite sure where Marluxa had found it, but it looked like it just might be long enough to get to the top. It'd be close though.

"Yes yes!" Marluxa wraps the end of the hose to their tail and proceeds to climb up the tower and onto its roof. Once on top, they tie off the hose end to a sturdy gargoyle that was sticking out. Once tied off, Marluxa tests the knot with a few firm tugs and judge it secured.

"Friend James can climb climb now!" announced Marluxa as they find a spot for themselves on the tower's roof so that James would have enough room for him to pull himself onto.

"Marluxa will watch watch James. Let Marluxa know if friend need help help"

James

James watched as Marluxa tied the hose at the top of the tower, then gave it a few hard pulls of his own, sure enough, it held. "Yup, got it!" He yelled up before sucking in his breath, James began the climb to the top. Slow and steady, and not looking down. It took maybe 5 minutes total, but eventually he reached the top, pulling himself onto the perch.

"Whew. Made it." He said, catching his breath on the roof, it was only then he realized the major flaw in this whole plan. It was easy enough to climb up, but there was no way in hell he was gonna use the hose to climb back down. Ah well, they'd cross that bridge when they came to it he supposed.

Finally, he turned his attention out towards the school, and took in the view from the roof.
