If she was supposed to be from another dimension, anyone wont be able to help but think she was a demon. Her appearance only made things complicated. She wasn't going to be surprised if the girl was summon here by witchcraft or something like that.

"Where demons come from huh?" Invidia hummed. It wasn't that she didn't know. It was more like, she didn't want to believe where demons come from. She always had this belief that demons are just humans. Humans who are bad. But she was only a child then until she started looking like an actual demon and everything suddenly makes sense. Even just a little.

"It's pretty much a different plane of reality. Call it a parallel dimension of sorts." She still didn't quite believe that. "Except it's not quite 'parallel' as others think. My mother told me it crosses this dimension. There could be a demon walking past you, but you don't see it because it's not synced to our plane."

She paused for a moment to think and decided maybe it was a good chance to mess with the girl. Invidia tilted her head to the side as if she was trying to see something from behind Chloe. "Though sometimes you can see glimpses of it. Just at the corner of your eye yet when you turn to look, you never seem to catch it." Invidia was hoping that would scare the girl a little. A little amusement didn't do any harm.

It was nonetheless true. And since her eyes have adjusted to being aware of the other plane, she could actually catch sight of them, before disappearing into nothing. She was aware but she didn't know how to get there. If she could, she would immediately find her father and give him a good punch.

Chloe reflexively looked over her shoulder – nothing was there. Maybe she saw a demon? Or maybe she was just looking at one of the students over there. It didn’t matter. Either way, Invidia’s explanation of the demon world got her thinking.

“So, it’s an intersecting plane of reality,” she said, nodding. Chloe had found a book about interdimensional travel in the library. She read a little bit of it, back when she still thought she might be able to go home. Very little of the text made sense to her, but it did mention ‘intersecting n-dimensional reality planes’ and their usefulness a few times. She almost understood that concept. When the book started to expand the idea to 8-dimensional space, she quickly gave up.

Chloe was not scared, but she was still deep in thought. Could she be talking about…?

“Can you only see them like that?” she asked. “Is it only an at-the-corner-of-your-eye kind of feeling? Or is it possible to see them? Because I think I might have seen a few… demony-looking things sort of blink in and out of existence, since I got here.” It was usually in public, and Chloe knew that magic things lived on this island, so it didn't bother her that much. She never even questioned it until now.

It didn't work. She looked but she wasn't scared. Then again, Chloe was in fact chasing after demons. Being scared of knowing they were only lurking about was the last thing she could possibly be. Chloe looked like she was deep in thought more than anything. Invidia was disappointed but she should have expected it.

From behind Chloe, Invidia could see the other students. They weren't too discreet about whispering about them, Invidia thought. That, she expected.

"It's possible to see them." Invidia replied. Chloe was truly curious and Invidia was in a good mood to indulge her curiosity. "Sometimes it depends on the area — that is, the spots where the intersection is steady and it's possible to see them in plain sight. Additionally, it could be by a gift or training your eyes to catch sigh of them." she added, brushing her fringe to the side of her face. "I can actually see them clearer than any human since I'm part demon and I have been trying if I could get to that other plane."

Invidia had considered maybe Chloe did have 'demon-eyes' but the possibilities are endless. The things Chloe could have seen might not really be the 'demon plane'. "Anyway, there's practically a hundred other planes intersecting this reality. So they aren't all demons. Some are just literally normal people, or ghosts or just freaks like that thing they talk about hiding in the forest."

So, Chloe couldn’t even be sure she was seeing demons. In case she hadn’t noticed, Invidia helpfully reminded her that there was a lot of weird bullshit going on around this island. The forbidden forest, extradimensional monsters,

“Yeah...” Chloe muttered something about a ‘fucking magic island,’ the corners of her mouth curling up into a sarcastic smile. Of course there were lots of other planes of reality intersecting with this one, and of course they would all intersect right here on this island. Every kind of magical bullshit that ever existed was finding its way here. Could she ever get used to living here?

“So I may or may not be able to actually see them. But do you know why they’re here?” she asked, “Or… do they not have a reason?”

For a moment, Invidia would only look at the girl in front of her. She knew she didn't have the answer though she never made it show in her face. At least she was sure it wasn't. "Who knows?" she said. She had meant to sound cryptic but to her, she sounded like she really had no clue. She hopes it was just her.

"Maybe they have some sort of secret agenda? Or a some kind of research? Some plan to take over from the shadows? A casual vacation from their day to day life? You never know. I'm pretty sure whoever knocked up my mother was on vacation and after that he never came back." Her irritation seemed to leak out by the end of her pondering. She wasn't fully aware she seemed to talk about her estranged father too often.

"But hey, if I'm here, you're bound to see one guy here with more inside knowledge about all this even if you can't see the ones around you right now. I just got this from my mom and she's really just a paranormal geek for all I know. Take it with a grain of salt, I guess."
