Standing awkwardly, Victor pushed the doorbell on the mansion again and waited for an answer.

About maybe Last week, he had begun to offer his services as a tutor, though this was his first Job. He didn't know who he was actually meant to be helping right now, so that was another worry.

From his Deductions of the house, they had to be rich, and didn't need heating. Victor Pulled his jacket in closer, The rest of the street seemed like a sauna, even in winter, when compared to this place.

Hopefully they answered the door soon.

When Béatrice heard the doorbell she quickly jumped up from the couch and went to greet Remi's tutor. He must've been cold, unless he had the same comfort for freezing places that her family had. She really needed to put in something so visitors wouldn't be so uncomfortable, or at least put down a warning that the house was much colder than other places on the islands, even during the winter.

"Hello-o-o!" Béatrice chirped when she came out to greet the boy. "Victor, right? You're here to tutor my daughter Remi in science and math, right? Come in! My apologies for the wait and how cold it is. We got blankets and coats if you want them." Blankets and coats they didn't really need, but they were comfortable sometimes, and she found them cute to wear. "Remi's upstairs in her bedroom. I didn't tell her about you coming here cause I didn't want to hear her complain, but now that you're here she'll just have to deal with it." She waited for him to follow inside and respond first before leading him upstairs to her room.

It took a moment, but the door Finally opened, revealing a Chubby woman with deer legs, Antlers, and wings. For a moment he was surprised, but then treated it as if nothing was amiss. Weirder things were on Manta Carlos than this.

Victor stayed quiet as he listened to her Gabble on, and then spoke up when she suggested A blanket or Coat. "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me" He shivered.

So he was tutoring someone called Remi, Thought Victor, and that they obviously didn't want to be tutored. Great. If her Mother was anything to go by, then She would be an interesting character.

"If you say so. I'm Béatrice by the way. I should have mentioned that earlier." She took note of his shiver, but she couldn't tell if he was denying because he wanted to be polite, or if he genuinely didn't think much was wrong. She didn't need someone getting sick in her house and being blamed for it, even if the person was some sort of masochist who wanted it. She decided that she first wanted him to meet Remi before she shoved a blanket onto him.

As she led him up the steps and into the hallway, the sound of classical music mixed with pop came out of Remi's door. She wasn't sure if it was as loud to Victor as it was to her, or if he could even hear it at all, but she was still annoyed with the noise. She had to deal with this all the time from Remi and Ade, and sometimes Arjean if they weren't aware of how loud they were being. At least Arjean had the excuse of being a toddler, Remi and Ade should know full well that blaring music isn't something everyone wants to hear all the time.

Opening the door the music was quickly lowered, and when Béatrice stepped through she saw Remi dressed only in a t-shirt with some sort of music joke on it that only her and Ade could get. "Remi, if you're going to listen to your music loudly use your earbuds at least," she huffed. "Anyways, meet Victor," she stepped aside to let him be seen,"your new tutor. He'll be helping you out in math and science. Really, we should have done this earlier, but better late than never." She said this all with a cheerful tune, even though it was obvious her daughter wasn't too pleased with the revelation. Maybe not obvious to Victor since Remi often looked stoic to everyone else, but to family it was easy to know how she felt no matter what face she put on. "Anyways, have fun you two. Don't do anything naughty. That's not what I'm paying him for," was the last thing she said before quickly leaving the room and giving Victor a gentle shove into her bedroom.

Okay, without context, the situation was a little weird, as he was shoved into the room by the mother -Beatrice- into a room blaring loud music where the only other person was a teenage girl-deer-bird wearing only a shirt.Thankfully, despite what Beatrice thought, he was only here to tutor Remi. Besides, he already had a girlfriend.

He walked over to Remi and awkwardly introduced himself as her tutor. While her face didn't seem to register any discomfort, he felt the atmosphere of the room that she didn't want him to be here. One didn't need any special powers for that.

There was no point in arguing with her mom, especially with how fast she left the room to avoid an argument. Now she was stuck with a tutor she didn't need. Her grades were fine enough, ranging from mid-Cs to mid-Bs. If she had more motivation she could've done much more, but she was interested in the performing arts, and she didn't feel like she needed to know all subjects one-hundred-percent to excel in what she's already good at.

"So, how much did she tell you?" Remi asked, crisscrossing her legs and leaning forward a bit, slouching her back in the process. "I already graduated high school with fine enough grades to pass. I don't think I need to improve my math and science to become a dancer, or mix drinks, or make music, or whatever I'm going to become when I'm done with schooling."

She wondered why he wasn't tutoring Arjean instead, since they were the one who loved to learn and impress everyone with their intellect. Was that why they didn't get a tutor? Because they already were on their path to being the perfect student, but Remi lacked the motivation and discipline? She tried to hide her sigh, realizing she should've known this was going to happen sooner or later.

Victor had heard very little about Remi, not even the name until just now. All he was told over the phone was that he was helping a student with their year 12 General Math and Sciences. But apparently, The student in question had already finished year 12, and was maybe a college freshman?

"I didn't hear much." He told her. Victor's mind was racing, thinking of a good reason why she should study. But alas, he couldn't think of anything good.

"Don't you have a goal for when you leave school?" He asked.

"A goal?" she repeated. "Uh, I got a long time to decide that. Probably longer than you." She didn't mean for that to come off as so arrogant, but he looked human, and humans usually had shorter lives. Although, he just could be one of those humans with immortality or some other age changing ability. Her life was supposed to go on forever and just stop aging at twenty-four years, but she always felt like there was a possibility for things to go wrong, especially on this island, and especially because of the experiments she goes through. Who knows what those have done to her natural physiology.

"I don't really have any plans for the moment. I want to be a dancer, but also a musician too. I found out I'm pretty good at mixing drinks, but I'm still working on that one, so maybe I'll go into... uh... what is it?" She snapped her fingers, swearing she heard it before. "I think it was mixology or something. Or maybe I'll be an actor like what my mommy likes to do. Uh, not Béatrice by the way. My other mom. Not sure if you met her yet, but her name's Ade."

Longer than me? Is she immortal? Victor wondered. more than likely, as her mother didn't look past her mid-twenties, and yet she had a daughter in her late teens. But she still didn't have a goal?

Well, she had some ideas, but was mixing drinks and/or entertainment the best way to go in this place? Granted, it can be a high-paying career, if you find the right places, but often it ended in failure. "Is there a backup plan in case you aren't able to find employment?"

"Uh, No. I haven't met Ade yet. Is she a Deer-owl Person too?" She probably was too, but there was that slim chance that she wasn't.

Remi never actually thought about a backup plan. She had multiple ideas, so she guessed those counted as backup plans, but if something failed she just relied on her family. "Well, back on where I was born my family is pretty involved in politics. I can get myself an easy political position there... I just have to figure out what position. Something that didn't involve being social hopefully." Career planning was never a fun thing, and having someone who seemed to be hired just to make her think about it felt insulting.

"And yeah, Ade's a 'deer-owl person' too. She's a Mud oricenta, like me. She's trains me in performance arts, so I'm sure I got a good start there. If not there, I can just continue helping the family business here."
