August 9th
"Alright Ms. Arore. We're gonna need to do a few tests."
Aylin hadn't been sure what to expect when she showed up today for her appointment. She had only even come hereto appease the whim of a close friend who insisted that she speak to a medical professional. Her symptoms had been odd, but nothing bad. Nausea. That was really it. Minor stomach cramps and Nausea that seemed to last only a few hours or so. in her own mind this was of no concern, as she believed it to be the result of the minor changes she had been making to her diet. The doctors were going to do whatever they wanted to do and tell her that she was fine. That was all.
Brad had been nice enough to come with her. He was sweet that way, and in the last little while had become a very strong part of her life. She enjoyed his company and trusted him entirely. however despite that, after speaking with the nurse, he had been asked to wait in the waiting area, leaving her along to do whatever needed to be done. She wasn't overly nervous, but she had still wanted him to be here for this. It's not like there was anything here he hadn't seen before anyways. She had tried to bring that up with the nurse, who had insisted that it was simply to give the doctor a chance to get to know her, and become familiar with her species a little better.
"Ms. Arore? We need to do a few tests."
Aylin snapped out of her daze as she looked to the doctor. He was watching her now, his gaze creeping over the rims of his glasses as he waited for her to respond. She wasn't worried about any of this so any tests he had were fine. Her assumption was that he would do a standard physical with her, and establish her baseline, and from there do whatever specialized tests he might need. It was nothing odd. So why was her mind scattered.
"Yes. Of course. What do I need to do?" She asked, looking back at him curiously. She was perched up on bed in the room. Her tail hanging off of one side and remaining coiled on the floor beside the bed so as to not keep all of her weight up there. She was wearing just a hospital gown, which she had managed to tie neatly despite it's rather odd backwards orientation. She had never understood why they tied up int the back and not the front. It just seemed silly to her.
It was funny to think that they would need more tests. When the doctor first arrived he had had her lay on her back on the bed. This in itself was not easy as her tail rolled awkwardly off the side creating a rather uncomfortable position for her. Despite that he had poked and felt around on her tummy, looking for odd lumps or masses. He checked her tail rather thoroughly, looking for signs of infection. Inspected her throat, eyes and ears as well, finding nothing wrong or out of the ordinary. He asked her about her diet, and about her sheds (An embarrassing topic for all Lamia), and even about her sex life. And in turn she had answered honestly to everything.
The doctor continued to stare at her over the rims of his glasses, making her suddenly more self aware. What was he looking for? What were her tests going to show? She could feel her heart speeding up a little as she suddenly started to worry. No. No. She thought to herself a few tomes as she slowly tried to regain her composure. this was normal stuff. the same things human girls do, and they would find nothing wrong. On the bright side, even if they did find something wrong, there were so many healers on the Island that could help her that she scarcely had to worry.
"We need a blood and urine test to start."
Aylin sighed. She expected this. Blood tests were easy. A prick of a needle and it was over before she knew it. At least that's how it had gone when she arrived on the island. She hadn't really seen any doctors since then. This shouldn't be much different. Urine tests were hard. Given the efficient nature of her body, she had not needed to actually expel waste in any capacity very often. One of the joys of being a Lamia. SO long as she kept to her diet properly she didn't need bathroom breaks. She would need to drink a lot of water to make this work.
"We can figure everything else out after that."
So this was a good thing. This doctor clearly wasn't going to overwhelm himself with tasks and tests to look through. Instead he seemed to only want to do what was needed. That was good. It meant that he would be thorough with his analysis and that meant he would find what was wrong with her with little fuss. Rather than reply directly Aylin gave a smile and a confident nod to show that she understood. The Doctor returned her smile as he stood up from his chair and walked to the door. "I'll send in a nurse to collect some blood samples from you and get you started on everything else." and with that he exited the room.
Aylin was now alone, waiting for the nurse to return and take her blood. She wasn't scared of needles or blood or things like that so this wasn't a big deal to her. However as she sat here waiting another thought crossed her mind, and started her heart racing again. It was something one of her friends had mentioned. Something about her possibly being... She looked down at her tummy for a moment with a quizzical expression. In a way it could be the case. She could be... It would make sense. The sickness, the timing, and it was in line with the first night her and Bradley had hooked up.
Thoughts of that night flashed through her head as her mind raced. It had been a full moon, and she was lusting hard. He was smooth and charming as normal, and they had been cooking a meal together. Sure enough in a flurry of passion they had been swept up in the moment, and not stopped till they were both bruised and sore. In that moment they had forgotten to use any kind of protection so that left things being possible...
The door to her room opened suddenly and Aylin jumped as she was snapped back to the present. The nurse had arrived and brought with her a tray needed to take blood. Normally Aylin was not so prone to being startled. In fact it seemed that only dragons could really startle her. They were big and intimidating she would often say. But this nurse was no dragon, and Aylin had just been too caught up in her own thoughts.
"Alright Ms. Arore. I'm here to take some blood..." She announced as she closed the door behind her and approached Aylin with the tray. The Lamia smiled and nodded to show that she understood. Normally she would have said something to confirm, but she had been so eager to get back to her thoughts of what might be. The nurse took her time preparing Aylin's arm for the needle.
Aylin took little notice of what was going on as her mind drifted again. Back to her previous thoughts, and the new worry that would pop up. What if she were pregnant? Maybe that's why the doctor wanted these tests. She knew that through her work she wasn't able to get pregnant. There were various magical forces at work that kept the girls from getting pregnant. Those same magical forces kept the girls, the human girls anyways, clean from various sexual diseases. And, outside of work there was only one person whom she had been intimate with that would fit the timeline.
She wondered now what he would say if she were. Would he be happy, or would he dump her right away. She hoped it wasn't the Latter as she had come to really like him. Bradley had spent a few nights over now, and even when they wern't fooling around, they had so much fun. She even liked just curling up with him and passing out.
"There... All done" The nurse announced as she placed a piece of cotton, and tape on Aylin's arm. It seemed that she had entirely missed the needle while she had been lost in her thoughts. She looked up rather surprised to see the Nurse putting several blood vials on her tray, before handing Aylin a sample cup. "Now dear, you need to go to the bathroom, down the hall and get a sample in the cup for us. Just leave it in the pass through when your done. After that you can get dressed and we will call you when we have some results."
Aylin looked confused for a moment. Yes she had been told she was getting these tests, but she had not been told what kind of tests they were. What was actually being done. "Umm.. What kind of results?" She asked tilting her head to the side. The nurse could only laugh as she stood up to head for the door. "The blood and urine tests are to find out if your pregnant. Isn't that why your here?"
Aylin choked for a moment, coughing loudly. "Pregnancy?!?!" So what if she had been thinking about pregnancy. That was different than other people thinking about it. And it was different than actually getting tested for it. The Nurse didn't seem to notice her surprise as she slipped through the door to do whatever task she had next.
Aylin sat for a moment looking at the sample cup she had been given. Her heart was beating incredibly fast, and her mind was racing to keep up. She had no idea what to do if she were pregnant, and now she was going to get tested? This was going so fast for her. It wasn't why she was here. She had come here to simply get a fix for her upset tummy, not get a baby.
She took her time getting dressed, examining her body as she did. It would be much to early to be able to see any changes if they were starting to occur, but it made her feel better to look and see her same old self. Once dressed though she quietly slipped out of the hospital room, and down the hall to the bathroom. Once her sample was made she exited and slithered over to the reception area to determine when her results might be in. The Nurse who had taken her blood was sitting behind the desk booking someone else's appointment over the phone.
It occurred to Aylin that this nurse might have been the one she talked to a few days ago when she booked her own appointment to come in. It had been Thurstan, the Vampire who had told her she needed to come in. He had sensed something about her, said that she should seek out a doctor. now, his vague advice made a little more sense. After a few brief moments the Nurse finished up with her phone call, and instructed Aylin that she would be contacted within the next couple hours with her results. The best thing now was to sit back, try to relax and wait for the results to come in.
Aylin thanked her for her time and slipped out to the waiting room. Now it was a waiting game.
