"Do you have children, Officer Roldan?" Celeste asked now very interested at his words. "I remembered you mentioned a moment ago something about adopting a young girl, no?" she said as Celeste got up from the table when he did.

"Could I possibly ask you a few questions about that?" she asked politely, not wanting to overstep any personal boundaries.

"Oh. I, ah." Roldan stopped and fiddled with his ring finger. "I mean, it's not much to tell, really. I got married to a woman who had a kid. We ended up parting ways, and I didn't want to put Iesha through any kind of strain."

Roldan looked at the floor, suddenly embarrassed. "Apologies. That was really unprofessional. I, ah, I'm gonna get back to it. Thank you for the tea again. Maybe I'll see you around."

Roldan put his hat back on and shuffled towards the door, giving Shale a nod and a smile and a 'see you around, kid', then he headed out. Before he embarrassed himself further.
