Those were some teeth. Jae thought, and stared for a moment. He snapped out of his daze quickly and pushed an easy smile onto his face. "I get it," He said, "Experiencing a new culture by throwing yourself in it." Or because you had too. "I hope it's an easy transition for you." And Jae meant it. He knew first hand how hard it could be to adjust to new cultures. Some transitions are easier than others.

"Legs as a fashion statement?" He repeated. "I mean, I can switch between a tail or legs but I never thought of my legs like that. How does that work?" The best he could imagine was a reverse mermaid type thing. Upper half fish, low half human and that was. . . rather strange.

"Oh," Anxiety, or something akin to it, churned in his stomach. Was he making a royal mess of being friendly and welcoming? "Oh yeah. People will get charms if their natural form tends to get in the way. Like size charms for people who are really big or small? Some charms are easier to get than others, though. The government can help provide them if you really need one, else you have to pay for it on your own."

Jae supposed he was fortunate that he could shift without a charm. "Um," Crap, what would be a good topic to discus? "Um, were you thinking of joining any school clubs?" That was a safe topic, something to push pass the awkward.
