Classes has been long and seemed to drone on forever today. Aren was up to his neck in schoolwork and worse yet he didn’t have any leads on the Crimson Realm or this “Red King” that have worried him for the past weeks. Aren shuffled defeatedly to his locker and slid what he could into it. He took a deep sigh and softly closed the locker shut, grabbing his bag afterwards. “Another day, more lack of progress.”

"Where was my locker again?" Thought Diinok, as he made his way through the corridors of the school for the second time. "This whole new school thing was cool at first... but this place is massive." He grumbled, "I can't find anything." Diinok bumbled around through the halls for a bit longer trying to memorized their layouts. Diinok walked by some students every once in a while, they didn't shout monster when they saw him, or even really stare for that matter, which was reassuring. Diinok noticed that he was also quite a bit larger than most of the students around, he was at least a foot taller than the average it would seem, but maybe he was just running into all the short people.

Diinok saw the reflection of his glow in the lockers, the flickering orange flames still intrigued him. Sometimes he wondered why he hadn't burned out yet, but then he remembered that he was a spirit like creature. Diinok lost in thought wandered the halls for a bit longer, and then instinctively stopped somewhere. He snapped back to his senses and looked around, there was a boy who looked down in the dumps was just shutting his locker, and a couple lockers away Diinok saw his own locker. Diinok walked up to his locker, and bento over to reach it, "How did I get stuck with a bottom locker?" He said out loud, even though he didn't mean to.

Aren noticed the rather large figure a few lockers away when they spoke. The image of such a large person having to bend down for a bottom locker made him smirk a little. “Yea tell me about it. You certainly don’t look like the type that should be getting a lower locker with your height.” Aren chuckled a little bit at the image again. “I’m Aren. A pleasure to meet you.” Aren’s frown dissapeared and was now a bright smile to one of his fellow students.

"I know... Ain't it a shame?" Diinok chuckled, "There should be a whole new level just for me!" Diinok's color began to change from orange to green. He repeated the name Aren in his head, his first friend? Possibly.

Diinok was now a vibrant shade of green, and he was a bit hotter than before. Diinok lowered his heat as best he could and then outstretched his hand for a shake, "Diinok, the pleasure is all mine." And waited for Aren's response. Afterwards, he said, "So what class is first on the list, I'm new here."

Aren smiled wider than before. “A pleasure to meet you Diinok. Say....I haven’t seen you around before, are you new here?” Aren could only assume they were new. Aren had memorized most of the people in his grade and he had never seen Diinok before now. Of course the question was answered immediately when they asked about what class was first. “Oh well my schedule is likely different than yours. Were you not given one?”

" No I wasn't..." Diinok thought for a moment, and thought that he might have dropped it. "Well maybe they did..." Then Diinok thought for a moment more, and came to the conclusion that he must have burned it up on accident, he was made primarily out of fire after all.

"I might have... uh... burned it... on accident." Diinok's color changed to a hue of purple from a bit of embarrassment.

Aren tried to hold back a laugh when Diinok when he said he may have accidentally burned the paper. “Well that’s one I’ve never heard before. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem. We can go to the offices and get you a new one! This time they can make is resistant to fire as well so you don’t burn it up like the last one.” Aren’s smile was wide and happy.

Diinok was relieved to hear that his next schedule would be fire proof, and said, "Great, looks like I won't have to worry about the whole, made of fire thing much here." He was in a cheerful mood and his color was back tot he vibrant Green it was moments before. He didn't quite love having his emotions broadcast, but there wasn't much he could do about it; plus nobody knew what color corresponded to which emotion, until they got to know hime better anyway.

"So the offices, you wouldn't mind showing me to them? My memory might have gotten a little... burnt... too."

Aren shook his head quickly. “Nope! Manta Carlos has something for every type of person. I’ve met a few beings composed of fire before you. Problems like that are really easy to solve.” Aren would slowly walk in the direction of the offices, looking back to Diinok and gesturing for him to follow. “Oh don’t worry Diinok. Everything will be fine. Perhaps we can even get your a higher locker while we are there too.” Aren said chuckling.

Diinok would have grinned if he could... but the stone that now covered where his face would have been was just a blank slate, and only ever looked aggressive at best. It was just a smooth curved plate of stone that was a mask... with eyeholes, not that Diinok really needed eye holes. Diinok could see the way that every one else saw, he just chose not to most of the time, and instead "saw" through heat. Diinok had run into many oddly heated individuals since coming to the island, and Aren was no exception. Aren's heat was normal, with one mysterious exception, it trailed off into... well that was the mystery, Diinok could not really comprehend where the heat went... but it linked Aren to something... and it would seem that it was something big.

As Diinok was following Aren, he worked up the nerve to ask, "Aren, I know we just met and all, but... uh... can I ask you something that might be a little personal?"
