"Glumdrop!" cried out Tengu, madly searching for her beloved grumpy cat. Right now she feeding time for her cats and while Prissel-Toes was quick to show up at the promise of food... Glumdrop was no wear to be seen. This left Tengu scratching her head. She knew that her lazy baby Glum-glum had in the apartment somewhere but the question is where? She had checked all through out her living room... which was large space to accommodate her bulk but there wasn't that much in the way of places for Glumdrop to hide in. It was mostly barren of any real furniture so that Tengu had less objects to accidentally knock over aside from a single second hand table in the middle and some potted plants in the corners... which she already doubled checked.

Oh and there was also her nest made out of old shredded blankets and pillows near the sliding glass door that lead to the balcony. She had proper bed but... she didn't like trying to fit into the door to the adjacent bedroom and her metallic limbs cut through fabric as she sleeps so she made her own nest in the main living room to avoid the hassle. Plus she preferred her nest anyway as it... worked better for her when trying to sleep. But a quick check inside and still no Glumdrop

"Hrrmmm... where is Glumdrop..." Tengu asked herself, now moving the kitchen section which was still part of the main living her. Tengu peeked through several cabinets, checked the sink, looked inside the oven, then the microwave but still no sign of her other cat. She looked on the counter tops just make sure that Glumdrop was not merely resting on the cool stone counter tops but nope.

"Prissle-Toes?" called Tengu as she looked down to her grey korat cat affectionately known to her as Prissle-Toes "Do you know where Glumdrop is?" asked the cyber harpy, but only received an annoyed mewl from a hungry cat instead.

"Oh... okey... hey conscious? Do you know where Glumdrop is?" she asked, standing still as she listens to the voice in her telling her that the cat's last reported location was in the bathroom, much to Tengu's shock

"Oh no! GLUMDROP!" she shrieked as she rushed to the bathroom door and opening the door, allowing for a old grumpy looking scottish fold cat to waddle out from the door. "Glumdrop! My furry potato baby... mama is so sorry! I didn't realize you where locked in the bathroom... again. Well come now! Its time for you favorite... tuna!"

With her cats accounted for, Tengu stride back tot he kitchen and grabed two bowls for each cat. She then looked through a cabinet filled with canned cat food and opened each of then with by prying them off with her sharpened tips of her wings. She then plops a can of wet food in each bowl and sets it next to their water bowl laid close the kitchen floor.

"There you two go! Now your both happy cats~" cheered Tengu, resting her wrists to her hips, smiling proudly to her two cats as if they were her own children. With her cats feed, it would seem that she nothing else that she needs to worry about. At least... she is pretty sure she had nothing else to worry about at the moment...

The mundane parts of life were mundane because they were both boring and mandatory. As far as Jackal was concerned, hell should be replaced with a giant bureaucracy where you filled out forms and applied for jobs. He'd only managed to get one because he'd been recommended by someone, and an apartment? That was a whole other deal.

He'd had to dig through listings and try and find one that fit both his budget and his needs, and he'd already been turned down twice. He was pretty sure the first one was because the guy renting thought he wasn't good for the money, but the second one? The second one had seem scared of him.

He was pretty scary.

The new one had potential. The right size. The right price. The writing was a bit odd, and must like cats? Sure, why not. He didn't really care about cats. Half of them seemed to love him, and half of them seemed to hate them, but he didn't have any issues with them.

Plus, the area was good.

He was in a nicer set of clothes than usual. Something normal. Something that almost made him look normal, if not for the tattoos on his face. And the sharp teeth. And the color of -

Alright, he didn't really pass as human, but at least it looked more normal than his armor, even with his tail swishing around behind him.

So he knocked at the door, the ad clutched in one hand, and hoped he'd get this one.

Option four was not appealing.

Tengu's ears perked up at the sound of knocking, knocking at her apartment door. She wasn't expecting any company today... or at least none that she could recall. Well whomever it was she probably shouldn't keep them waiting!

"Coming! Just give me a moment~" called out Tengu towards the direction of the door. She looks down to her cats, too busy nibbling on their food to care for the disturbance at the door. Tengu squats down and gives theme both a quick pat on their heads.

"You two just stay here and enjoy your meal okey? I'm just going to get the door reeeeal quickly~" assured Tengu to her cats. She stands up and spins to the direction of the door and walks to it. Once in front of the door, she flicks the lock open and pulls the door just enough for her to poke her head through the gap.

"Hellooooo~" welcomes Tengu as she pops her head through. She greets the stranger with friendly smile, unfazed by the man's strange appearance. "Is there anything I can help you today sir?"

Jackal, with his sharp teeth and tail and variety of other clearly non-human features, was not in a position to judge others. Even so, he still blinked at Tengu when she swung the door open, revealing at least part of her.

Did she not have arms? Was he missing them under the wings? How was this even working?

Frustrated that his first thought was about whether or not she had arms, Jackal took a moment to reply before snapping back to reality, digging his hand into his pocket and pulling out a small (very crumpled) piece of newsprint.

"You were the one looking for a roommate, right?" Jackal asked, brandishing the ad like it was a weapon.

He couldn't help but wish she'd open the door a bit wider, so he could get a better idea of what the apartment looked like.

"Oh! Your interested in the room? Oh come right on it!" exclaimed Tengu, swinging the door wide open and revealing both the spacious central living room and Tengu in their entirety. "Just make yourself at home! And be careful where you step now! My cats like to suddenly appear in front of you when you are not looking!"

Just then a soft purr can be heard by Tengu's feet, a curious cat face looking up to Jackal as they looks from between Tengu's legs.

"Oh there is one of them~" cooed Tengu as she bends down to pick up the cat and rocks them her left arm. "Dis is my precious Prissle-toes~ Say hello Prissle-toes, say hello~" gushes Tengu as adjusts her arm so that cat is a higher up. The cat looks to Jackal, give a single affirmative mewl as if giving their approval. "Dawww... I think they like you~ Okey baby you can go off now."

Tengu then lets go of the cat and lets them drop to the floor, the cat walks around the as if though they owned the place. Tengu then takes several steps back to allow Jackal some room to enter so that they can see the room themselves.

"Anyway, my name is Tengu! And I live here! And maybe you would like to live here too? Well just look around and let me know what you think before you make up your mind. If you like I can give you a tour of the entire apartment but if you like to do a little exploring all by yourself thats fine too. Oh and let me know if you have ANY questions what so ever just ask away!" chimed Tengu, waiting for Jackal to move to the center of the so that she she could close the door behind him. That why did didn't have to worry about her cats accidentally running away... not that it has ever happened before.

Jackal's first impression of people was always whether or not they'd killed before. Tengu hadn't, which let his brain safely move on to the elephant in the room: They were gigantic. While not even six feet tall, their wings were gigantic, making her much larger than her torso might have appeared. Even her legs were like that--vastly oversized compared to her torso--and her entire appearance seemed bizarrely cobbled together.

How did she even manage without hands?

It went almost without saying that Jackal did not say hello to Prissle-toes, staring at the cat with a very confused look on his face. He couldn't even tell what his possible-new-roommate was. A human? An alien?

Maybe he hsouldn't be worrying about that.

"Uh, it's big for sure," Jackal observed, glancing around the room. It was mostly empty, and there was... something out on the balcony, and...

"Uh, so... bedroom?" Jackal asked. Because he was definitely needing a bedroom. "And...don't really know what to ask, so I guess tour works."

"Yep! Sure is big. Perfect for someone with big old clunky wings like me." remarked Tengu, then extending her wings out to their full length as if to demonstrate how large the main room was. "It was likes on of those big selling points of this place since I don't like having to wiggle my way through small spaces and accidentally knocking over things."

That and a few other amenities such as the balcony so that she can get outside easier and of course being pet friendly! Another plus was that everyone was very super friendly around here too and the landlady was just the greatest. In fact she was the one who suggested that she get a roommate after mentioning to her how tight her budget was after another wing malfunction set her back.

"Hee hee... sure thing, onward grand tour it is then! Ha ha!" laughed Tengu as she she folds her wings back and "marched" all the way over to bedroom door. She kindly opens the door for Jackel as tiny metallic fingers reach out and twist the knob.

"Bedroom is all yours if you plan to stay here. I never really use it since I don't sleep in the bed and its a hassle to fit through these doors." explained Tengu, waiting for Jackal to enter the room to see it for himself.

Save for the bed and the accompanying night stand, this room was just as lacking of furniture as the living room. There appears to be a sliding mirror closet on the wall to the left while on wall to the right, a single window letting in sunlight that is currently the only source of illumination in the room. Everything appears neat and orderly thought close inspection would reveal a fine layer of dust on top of everything in this room, indicating that it has been a long time since this room has seen any use, if any. Close to the door are a set of switches that control the speed setting of the dormant ceiling fan above and the activate the lights of lamps hanging from said fan.

"Anyway, its all yours if you like!" chirped Tengu as she awaits her prospective roommate's thoughts and questions.

There were so many cats. Jackal, unused to pets, was having a hard time even counting them. Were there just two, or was one of the two actually two cats he was thinking were just one? They kept vanishing in and out of doors and behind what little furniture there was, and Jackal had to tear his eyes away to try and focus on the task at hand.

The fact that there was only one bedroom seemed like it might have been an issue, even with her explanation that she didn't sleep there. Jackal stepped in, glancing around the room and getting a feeling for it. A bed. A nightstand. And that was it, really. Maybe there was something in the closet, but Jackal doubted it.

He could work with that.

"Yeah, I'm interested," Jackal said, coming back to stand in the doorway. "You... don't sleep? Slee-" He paused, abruptly noticing the 'nest'. "You sleep on the balcony, I guess?"

"Yep yep!" chirped Tengu as she gave Jackal an affirmative nod. "A nest is more... comfortable for me, that and my wings keep end up shredding the mattress every time I sleep in one." Tengu let off a shrug, then her eyes widened as she realized something.

"Oh! Don't worry! The bed in there should be all okey-dokie! I never slept in THAT bed ever! In fact I am pretty sure the only ones whom ever slept on it were my kitty cats." remarked Tengu, hopefully assuaging any concern Jackal could of have.

"Anywho... you said your interested? Prefect! I think this just about time to get to know each... just make sure that are are compatiable roommates and all that. Now... hrrrmmm... I know I had a list of questions somewhere for you but..." Tengu glances around... she recalls writing down potential questions to ask somewhere on piece of paper but she can't remember where she left it.

"Hrmmm... hey Conscience? Can you remind of the questions I was going to ask again?" there was pause, then she nods her head as she gives thanks to a voice that only she could hear "Ah right! Thanks Conscience! So... I guess the first question is what it is you do for a living? And if there are any sort of accommodations that you might need or think you might need? Oh oh! Also what might your name be? I don't think I got your name quite yet. Oh and feel free to ask any questions you might have for me as well... whether its about me or just how the rent will work."

Obviously, Jackal was going to have to get a lint roller, because he'd have bet money the bed was going to be covered in cat-hair. He didn't mind the cats, but he also didn't want to be buried in cathair, and there was no telling if his job at the station was going to be cool with him showing up covered in it.

While Jackal was certainly under the impression that Tengu was weird, he was leaning on the side of 'quirky' more than 'actually weird' right up until she started talking to her conscience. Things went from weird to weirder when it apparently talked back, and Jackal's confusion no doubt showed on his face.

"Uh, I work on the station. Dockworker. Nothing fancy, but it pays. I don't really need any accommodations, because I'm low maintenance as fuck, and... uh, Jackal. My name. I'm assuming the whole rental thing is pretty much the same as normal. Paid once a month, the cost was in the ad... anything else I need to know?"
