He hid his laugh as best he could while saying, "You give new definition to looking over one's shoulder, you know." He looked up at her and put his book flat so she could see it better. "And what do you mean, plants that tear nerves? I know a fly trap feeds itself through living juices, but I've never heard of anything that lashed out."

She thought for a second, "Did I say lash out? I didn't mean to... what happens is, the plant makes a venom... for lack of a better word, and if you crack it open, or smash it together in a bowl or something... then you can make a paralyzing poison. Nasty stuff. It's undetectable, and tasteless. But, maybe I shouldn't tell you that..." Her voice trailed off, she knew a lot about herbs, good and bad, and didn't really like sharing about the bad. She wanted people to know about what helps, and heals, not what kills or destroys.
"But, maybe I shouldn't tell you that..."
"Nah... It's ok." He shrugged a bit. "I already knew about poisons and toxins. I just thought you meant there was actually a plant that struck passerbys. And I thought those Fly Traps were creepy..." He laughed a little. He picked his book back up and went back to reading.

She smiled, letting the vine bring her down, next to him, she sat with her back against the wall, knees bent, her arms hugged them, then, the vine disappeared into the ground.
"Fly Traps are creepy... I don't like them at all. They are really rude too. I'm no fan of flies, so I don't mind that they eat them... Just the fact that they don't like being messed with by humans. I bet if they were big enough, they'd eat us too!" Enelya mimicked the fly traps by opening her arms and closing them making 'scary' faces.

Kotah laughed wholeheartedly at her mimicry. "You do a wonderful impression. Really, it's perfect." He smiled. "And that's the same reason I like spiders. They get rid of a lot of pests around the house. Same with cats. Yeah, big scarey Kotah is a cat person." He stuck his tongue out at her.

Enelya bursted out laughing, and wrapped her arms around her knees again. "Why thank you, I practice daily my impressions of three things, my RAH face, my fly traps, and Archie's 'smart face'." Enelya laughed again, and grinned.
"And that's the same reason I like spiders. They get rid of a lot of pests around the house. Same with cats. Yeah, big scarey Kotah is a cat person." He stuck his tongue out at her.
Enelya's eyes got wide, and she smiled even bigger. "Aww... I never thought of you as big scary Kotah, but thats okay, I like cats too. They are good at sneaking out and getting a snack when your not supposed to be out... Plus, they have a good sense of humor. I once knew this black cat named Moonshine," she laughed, "Yes, Moonshine, her 'owner' well, I'm sure you can guess what his hobby was.. Well anyways, he loved to go around and scare the superstitious. He even went out and followed this one really mean guy for about a week. Poor guy went crazy. I even pretended to be a witch with him one Halloween."

She couldn't hold it for long though, until she started laughing and said, "Yeah, I can never do it for very long, he always turns red in the cheeks and tries to convince me 'he doesn't do it like that, it's more like this'."

Of course I was an exception, but I didn't mind. Most animals feel that way about me." She laughed at the fat cat. "Cats sure do know how to live the high life! And still be beautiful." She grinned and winked.

He laughed at the face she made. "Yeah, I can see why he'd go red in the cheeks. You gotta do this." His face dropped his smile instantly, his eyebrow raised, his lips pursed into a very slight frown, and he looked off up and to the right. He dropped the act with a small laugh.

He ruffled her hair a bit. "Most humans, too, I'm sure. You're a great person to hang around with."
