Cade took off his shoes and socks and dipped his feet into the shallow end of the lake. He winced as the cold water tickled his toes but he ignored it and dipped the rest of his feet in. He sighed and leaned back on the shore, his arms wrapped under his head. He looked up at the clear sky. A lot of things had happened since he came to the Academy. He has made some good friends here and found someone that has taken a liking to him; and here he was thinking he would be a loner here forever. He smiled, then rested his head, trying to push those thoughts away for some alone time. He wanted to clear his mind of several things. He was happy, and for once in his life, he had a good reason to be.

Cade closed his eyes against the clear skies. He swung his feet in the water and listened to the sounds around him. He released the mental barrier as the birdman within him growled angrily when Cade refused to spread his black feathered wings. Whenever he was out here, he felt like he was free, free from all the tension and pain. He couldn't help but smile. He appeared tame and gentle, refusing to let anyone or anything disturb his peace. Though he was at ease at the moment, usually he would never show any kind of positive emotion. For once, he felt like he needed to let himself go, and express his true emotions, which were indeed positive ones.
