She hated hospitals. Hated doctors, except for Dr. Liu. Hated nurses, except for her own mom. Hated everything having to do with hospitals. And health clinics, for that matter. But her mom had sent her a text message, reminding her to pick up her medication, which meant a visit to the doctor. Not that she really needed the medication regularly... but it was better to have on-hand, just in case. The only thing that was making her afternoon even remotely better was the marionette skipping alongside her wheelchair as she rolled it up the ramp. With a quick command, the doll jumped up and hit the button to open the door and Aliya continued into the room, where there was a receptionist waiting.
"Aliyanah Adams, here to see Dr. Laurie." She spoke even before the receptionist could greet her and ask her for her name. The girl at the desk nodded, jotted a few notes down and motioned for Aliya to wait for a few minutes. Aliyanah sighed and Tina jumped up in her lap, the doll's pink curls bouncing as she waited rather impatiently. After a moment, Aliyanah lowered her voice down to a harsh whisper. "Now listen, you... I don't want any messing around. You're supposed to be a doll." The doll tilted her head to the side and slumped down, letting her head come to rest on Aliya's chest.
"Aliyanah?" the receptionist called from the front desk. "The doctor will see you now... just go down the hall, and it's the first door on your left." The girl sighed as she rolled down the hall and came to the door that the receptionist had described. It was cracked open, so she entered, put on the breaks and waited for the doctor to arrive.
