Index’s burrow was rather easy to notice for anyone traveling through the woods. The entrance was rather massive, a large dark hole that descended into dark, unknown depths. Index was currently in the bowels of the burrow, the area strangely filled with bright light. Index had remembered they had made a deal with someone and that they were coming by to begin paying off the debt they have, however Index of course remembered nothing about them. To make sure that their visitor could see Index set up lamps throughout the room to keep it lit.

Now they just had to wait.

With a set of coordinates typed into the maps app on his phone, Alby set off. School was out now, and he hadn't forgotten the promise he'd made to Index. The phone took him a ways off from where anybody would've normally lived, but thanks to what he'd asked Index beforehand, he knew this was to be expected.

Sure enough, after a stroll through the trees, Alby had come across a giant hole. No question about it, this had to be the burrow Index had spoken of. Unsure whether to start going down or if he was supposed to somehow knock here, Alby shouted down. "Hello!?"

Index quickly heard the echo as it traveled down the network of tunnels. They stopped what they were currently doing and moved up to the entrance to greet their assistant. After a minute or two of slithering they finally reached the surface in their full size.

Index looked down at Alby for a moment trying to think of his name, but no matter how hard they tried it never came. “Ah....it’s you. Right on time which is good. I suppose you are here to honor your side of the deal we made yesterday?”

Alby waited patiently for a few moments, until they heard something coming not long after. Sure enough, Index slithered right up to meet him. Right as Index made it up, Alby greeted them with a simple "hello."

"Yessir." Alby smiled, honestly a little excited to find out what this was all about. He probably should've been a little more spooked out by all of this, but he really wasn't. At least not yet.

Index thought for a moment and looked back into the large gaping tunnel that was before the two of them. How were they going to get their assistant to the bottom? The hole could occasionally become rather step and make sudden turns. Not helping matters was the fact the entire way down was pitch black, surely Alby might hurt themself walking down. “This is an odd request but may I carry you through the passage? It is the safest method for you to get where we need to go.”

As Index looked down the tunnel, Alby did the same. It was a little dark, scratch that, a lot dark. But he wasn't too worried, he had a flashlight on his phone and two more in his backpack. He was always trying to be prepared for moments like these.

That being said, he threw that all out the window when the option of getting carried down by Index popped up. So what if he had a flashlight, that sounded like fun. "Sure thing, whatever is safest." Alby gave a thumbs up. Of course, he rarely cared much about taking the safe option, this was all about getting to be carried by cool otherworldly creatures.

Once Index got the approval they were looking for they moved closer to Alby and grabbed them with one of their front claws. They held him rather tightly as the claw wrapped around Alby and pressed him to their body. Alby would feel that Index’s body, while serpentine in appearance, was odd in texture. The scales all had minute ridges and bumps that could only be noticed by actually touching the scales. “Please do inform me if I am crushing you assistant.”

"Whoa haha" Alby chuckled as they were lifted up by Index, already enjoying the ride. Alby took note of the fact that Index's body was different than he originally pictured. Might be worth adding to his journal later.

"I will make sure to do that." Alby gave a thumbs up. "I'm good right now, ready to go."

Once Alby gave the okay Index began to descend into the tunnels below. Alby likely wouldn’t be able to see anything however Index could see pretty clearly, not that they needed to. They basically knew where to go from pure memory. Every burrow Index made was the exact same for the most part, with only some deviations depending on the geography of the ground Index was digging in.

After what seemed to be one or two minutes, a light could be shining from the end of the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel they finally reached a surprisingly well lit cavern. For the most part it was barren, besides a couple of lamps to light up the room. The eye catcher of the room though was a large stone slab that some large corpse rested on.

Alby sat still, smiling all the way even though there wasn't much he could see. He was quite content just being carried by someone as cool as Index.

Before long, he could spot some light in the distance and after just a little longer, they entered the lit area. Alby looked around, trying to admire the room, though there wasn't a whole lot to admire, aside from the-

Alby's eyes froze, switching to a look of terror. He never looked away, staring at the corpse and whispering to Index "What is that?" In this wacky place, that could easily be a zombie or something, there was no way Index had... It just couldn't be the case.
