*The funny thing is that Sophie is afraid of horses. Well, she's afraid of riding them anyway, but being around these gentle giants has always brought her peace. Animals were so much easier than humans. Animals were much less complicated. There was feeling and instinct and that was pretty much how all animals worked. There were no agendas, no ulterior motives. If an animal liked you, it was because it sensed you were not a threat. Sophie was anything but threatening.*

*The little girl had managed to, somehow, avoid security and make it all the way across campus to the stables. Since it was only three in the morning, all of the students and teachers, as far as she knew, were sleeping. Some of the animals were as well. The one other creature that was awake this hour was a pure white arabian horse in the last stall in the barn.*

*Sophie made her way all the way down as quietly as she could, so as not to disturb the sleep of the other horses in the stalls she would have to walk past. When she was finally standing in front of the horse she looked down and saw a small brass plaque bearing the name "Gypsy." To Sophie, it seemed to fit.*

*To the little girl, this horse could have been a unicorn if it just had a horn in the middle of its forehead. The color was such a pure white that, in the soft light from the full moon, the animal almost seemed to glow.*

*Sophie reached out one small hand to gently stroke the horse's nose, smiling to herself as the horse leaned into her touch.* You're so beautiful. *She whispered to it gently.*

*Sophie was so wrapped up in getting to know Gypsy that her guard was down. She didn't hear the footsteps approaching or sense anyone else around. As far as she was concerned there was just her and Gypsy.*

Sorcha walked into the stables and wondered for the tenth time how it was that mucking out the stalls was a fair punishment for not keeping her dorm room in tip top shape. Her room was just fine as far as she could tell, the clothes on the floor were all sorted into clean and dirty piles. She knew that library book was under the bed, she just hadn't picked it up yet. Shaking her head she finally grabbed the pitchfork and headed to the back when she stopped half way down as she saw a girl she didn't recognize in front of the last stall. She observed for a bit as she noticed the girl seemed to be engrossed in the animal. She knew what it was like to be so involved with something in front of you that you became oblivious to the outside world, however, that didn't mean that the girl could stand there all day. She marched down to the end and tapping the girl on the shoulder said,"Hey, you need to move so that I can clean out the stall" Sorcha knew that she came across as rough but she didn't care, she just didn't have it in her to be nice to people she didn't know.

*The tap on her shoulder nearly made her jump out of her skin. Sophie blushed, blinking at the girl behind her* I..I'm sorry. *She grudgingly took a step away from the horse so the girl could get to the stall.*

*As the girl brushed by her, Sophie couldn't help but get a strong sense of the anger coming from the girl. Sophie wasn't trying to be rude but she bit her lip lightly as she went back to petting Gypsy. She felt awkward but she wasn't ready to leave yet. Seeing as the girl seemed none too happy to be doing the job she was doing, Sophie decided that she might as well help her out.* Do you want help with this? *She questioned meekly as she lightly petted the horse.*

Sorcha was used to people flinching from her. She was pretty tall for a girl and she tended to be intimidating. At least that is what people told her, she just thought she was being herself. It was frustrating that here was another one like most of the girls she had met here at school. It was so frustrating that she couldn't make friends, not that she really wanted to she assured herself, all because the girls didn't want to be around her because they were intimidated. Mentally shaking her head she finally got around to answering the girls question,"Sure, if you want. It doesn't matter to me. Take Gypsy out of the stall so I can get in there and start to clean it out. Although why it has to be done at this time of the day or night doesn't make any sense to me."

While Sorcha waited to see if the girl would decide to stay and help or go off running she briefly wondered what her story was and who she was. "So, what's your name? Mine is Sorcha"

*Sophie nodded and led Gypsy out of the stall and over to a post nearby, tying her reins* I'm Sophie. *Sophie could feel another emotion from the girl, under all her aggression. It was almost like she felt sad. Sophie had no idea why though.*

Yeah, I mean three in the morning does seem like a weird time to muck stalls. *She replied awkwardly. Sophie was guessing this was some kind of punishment for something but still, it was an odd time of day. Noirina should be sleeping, as should Sophie.* I just couldn't sleep...I didn't think anyone would be out here too. *It was true. Sophie couldn't have imagined that anyone else would have a reason to be out here right now. She stood awkwardly for a moment before she looked around* So what else can I do?
