The full moon was perfectly reflected in the calm water of the lake. A figure sat under a tree with his legs crossed, the light fluttering through the branches shining on his face. He looked out over the calm surf, enjoying a breeze that had just kicked up. He enjoyed the water, and the lake was very calming to him. His mind wandered, his eyes dropped, and he became lost in his concentration. He could not help but remember...He thought back to that night.

"Bro...Brother!? Are you alright?! Brother?!"

Lumis was on his knees with his head in Jaden's lap. His eyes filled with tears as he looked on lifelessly, as his foster family had just been slaughtered right in front of him. He held his hand, and watched his eyes cloud and close. As they did, Jaden shook his head at Lumis. He had just discovered his baby brother's power. He didn't even feel safe around his own brother anymore... Lumis closed his eyes and leaned downwards, his forehead leaning on his.

He held there for a moment, and then looked up...as he heard the sound of maniacle laughter. Tears fell from his eyes as he observed the perpetrators. Multiple men dressed in black were on the prowl. The men observed Lumis's power and fled from the scene of the crime. Jaden couldn't live with the fact that his baby brother wasn't human anymore. He just needed to get away. As a goodbye gift, he handed over two ruby rings to Lumis.

"...Lumis...these are for you....do not lose sight of them..."

Lumi's attention turned again to the lake as his awareness returned. He looked around, sort of startled. He had not expected such a memory to find itself to him at such a time. He shook off the emotions that stirred up inside him. He could not help feeling them come rushing back...but he had to go on. He was not done finding himself. "Brother..."

Lucas entered the lake, figuring it was one of the only places he would find complete silence and vacancy. But of course he was wrong, like always. After taking only a few steps past the trees he spotted someone else. He didn't know the person - not that he knew a lot of people in general - but since it was quite dark out, the only light coming form that of the full moon, he could barely see the person. All he could easily see was the outline of the person, and from the way the person was sitting, it was most likely a male. But Lucas kept his distance. He didn't want to go chatting away with some stranger. He didn't want to chat with anyone. period.

The boy stuffed his cold pale hands into his black jacket and walked over to the edge of the lake, far away from the stranger, but still in his line of vision. Sure he wasn't going to talk to the guy, especially some guy who talked to himself, but he still enjoyed observing others, even if it was mainly out of sheer boredom. Besides, with the dark colors that he was wearing, he was practically invisible with the black background around him.

(For future reference, everything in italics was a flashback...)

Lumis closed his eyes as he sat, trying hard to relieve himself from the awful reflection and memory. He opened them again after a moment then looked around. It seemed that he was the only here at the moment. It was dark out, so it would be hard to see anyone else that would be here as well. The only source of light was the full moon shining upon him. He slowly arised from the ground and walked down the shore to the water. There he seated himself and would reflect some moer. He could almost feel the cool waters striking at his feet.

((I thought so...lol))

Lucas sat cross-legged by the shore of the lake, plucking the small plants the grew beside it from their root, shattering their chance to become some more. He sighed and looked across at the surface of the lake, the bright moon reflecting perfectly on it's calm silvery surface. All he wanted to do was just disturb it. Make it so the lake wasn't so calm, so perfect looking. but knowing himself, he wouldn't be able to throw it far enough to disturb the part that he wanted, the center of it. It's 'core', so to speak.

Lucas looked around and found a small rock. It was jagged and different form all the rest that surrounded it, just like he was. He almost felt a small smile form at the edges of his mouth, but then, he accidentally used his power, turning the rock into nothing but liquid, slipping through his hands and onto the ground. Lucas growled, feeling his anger rise up. He quickly grabbed the biggest rock he could find within his reach and chucked it as far as he could, forgetting completely about the other who was present. He could feel a small tinge of satisfaction when the rock broke the surface of the water. Although it hadn't reached his true destination, it had still caused a big enough splash to effect the majority of the lake, ruining it's perfect reflection of the moon and disturbing it completely.
