Lexi had been spending a lot of time lately with Kimiko. She was always there promptly though Lexi still didn't know that Kimiko was a girl at all. Even after everything they did. So she just thought nothing of it as she was eating dinner. Some simple home made pizza. She cheerfully held a slice in her hands and took a bit. Chewing a bit as she swung her feet under her chair and hummed lightly.

"Thanks again for babysitting again Kimiko. It's nice having you around." She said with a smile, getting some tomato sauce on her lips as she took a napkin and cleaned it off. "And you picked some good toppings for a pizza."

She said with an even brighter smile as she kept on eating. Trying not to just devour it in one sitting. She then looked at her cup of milk as she used a hand to take a large drink of it with a content sigh. Looking at the ceiling for a moment as she asked an odd question.

"Hey Kimiko? Do you think.. Grown ups fall in love? Or.. Can love someone else after having a kid..?"

She said. Looking down at her slice again. Sheepishly taking another bite. Her eyes dared not look up at Kimiko. She had heard about her father talking about a girl named 'Genesis' who he was inlove with and just.. Wasn't sure on what to do. She still missed her mother, though she could never remember who she was but Octain kept saying 'She was never coming back'. Not knowing what really happened Lexi wanted Octain to be happy but most of the time he was too into his work for anything else it seemed like.

He wanted to help him though wasn't sure on what to do at all. She put the crust down and put her hands on her lap.

"I'm really worried about daddy..." She said. gripping her blue dress. Almost ripping it.

Kimiko, hair tied up in the world's messiest bun and baggy shirt falling loosely like a dress, took a bite of her pizza and wiped the sauce off the side of her mouth. It was Saturday night, and Kimiko was more than happy to babysit sweet princess Lexi rather than spend it inside watching TV. Nothing was ever good at this hour. It was all bad dialogue and nudity.

"I mean..." She chewed, rather loudly in fact, with an open mouth because she was classy like that, "Theoretically, I guess I could see it happen. I don't see why not?" She popped the last piece in her mouth and dusted the flower off her hands, walking over to the sink and washing her face with water. She felt like she just spread the oil. Gross. She rubbed her face a couple more times before she heard Lexi's comment.

It wasn't hard to piece it together.

She circled the counter with a grin. "Is Mr. Octain... in love???" she asked with a teasing eyebrow waggle.

Lexi was eating somewhat lady like. Octain taught her about manners. Even if she wanted to eat like Kimiko did, she was more afraid of Octain scolding her about her behavior. Though she knew he did it so people wouldn't think less of her. It was new for her to be somewhere in one place for a long time. Specially living with her dad living in a house.

"I.. See.." Lexi said to Kimiko's answer. It seemed like she was trying to block the question though gave an answer that seemed to say 'It happens. People fall out of love of one another'. A small tear of fabric could be heard as she gripped her dress lightly.

"I think he is.. With someone named Genesis. Though.. I want him to be happy but.. At the same time.. I wonder what mom would do if she found out daddy was with someone else.." She said as her ears dropped even if she couldn't even remember remember her mother. "But.. Daddy feels strongly for this lady. I've never seen him this happy or not so out of his books in a long time." She said looking over at kimiko. turning around in the chair like a cat as her tail knocked over an empty glass onto the table and her hands holding the top of the chair. "W-What should I do..?"

Kimiko hummed in thought, leaning against the kitchen counter with her arms crossed. These were some real sensitive stuff they were talking about now.

"Lexi... Have you ever met your mom? If she's not around, there must be for some reason why, right? So..." Aw, shucks. Kimiko didn't want to go into the topic of 'death' or, even worse, 'divorce' with her right now, but it seemed like they were going down that road anyway. She shrugged. "Personally, if this woman makes Mr. Octain happy, I'd say he should go for it. I mean, it sucks, but your mom isn't around. Why can't you let him be happy with her?"

Kimiko moved near Lexi, kneeling in front of her. "Family isn't necessarily people you're related to in blood. Do you know Ms. Genesis? Do you think you'd want her as mother?"

"Daddy keeps dodging the question each time I ask.. Sometimes he says he's 'searching' for her.. Or that she was never coming back." Lexi noticed the rip in her dress and turned red to hide it. Crumpling it in her hand. "I'm worried about her and dad NEVER tells me to truth behind it.. I trust him but.. I just want to meet my mom once."

She gave it thought.. She'd never seen Octain as happy as he was with Genesis. "You.. You are right. Daddy should be happy. I just.. Kimiko I want daddy to be happy. I just need to know what happened to my mom. I feel like.. A part of me is missing." She saw Kimiko lean down to her level as she blushed a bit.

"I-.. I know her. We went for Ice Cream once. When she found out I was Daddy's little girl.. She spent a lot of time mothering me.." She stated. Looking at the ground. She gave it some intense thought that was managed through silence as she moved her head up and down. "I want her as a mommy.. She's so kind and caring I just.. Kimiko I want to know what happened to my real mom.. I can't help but think.."

She looked up Kimiko. "I-I'm sorry I.. Trust you Mister Kimiko." She said. She just wanted some help. She felt.. Lost. Trying to find out what to do. Her ear dropped a bit as he tail slowly moved to hit the floor lightly.

Kimiko stood up from her place on the ground and pulled Lexi into a tight hug, pressing her head against her chest. She recognized that she must be in a dark place right now. She only wanted to help. "I understand. I'm sure your dad would tell you when you're ready, but if you really want, we can go ask him?"

That wasn't good enough, she thought. Kimiko firmly believed that parents shouldn't be hiding anything from their kids, especially their daughters. Kimiko figured that if Octain really cared about Lexi and his honor as a man, he would tell her!

That was decided, then.

She wiped her hands on her large shirt and perked up, placing her hands on her waist. "Come on! Let's go over and ask Mr. Octain right now."

"I.. Can you be there?" Lexi managed to spit out. Feeling herself hugged by Kimiko.. Embraced by her just... Made help melt. A soft purr emanated from Lexi. As she was red like a beat. She wrapped her arms around her to. Her hear wandering aimlessly.

'OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD DON'T SCREW THIS UP LEXI OH MY GOD OH MY GOD.' Went through her head. She was.. Confused and kept purring as she realized she was purring. She tried to back out of the hug like a cat. Not hissing or trying to hurt Kimiko. Just.. Nervous about her purring her and was always self conscious about it.

"I.. don't know where daddy is though I-"

She was saying..

Octain;

He had arrived at the house earlier than normal after his little date with Genesis. He rubbed his eyes for a moment as he undid his cloak and hung it on the coat tree.

"Lexi, Kimiko, I am home." He said. He realized he was early just.. He had a good time regardless. Full of food he took off his suit jacket and looked around. "Honey?"

It wasn't that he didn't hear a response. He looked into the kitchen. Seeing Kimiko in a baggy shirt that looked like someone had beaten some cow meat on it and just decided it looked better. He saw lexi's down trodden eyes for a moment. "Is.. Something wrong?"

"Well, yeah!" Kimiko said, enthusiastic and confident as always. Why wouldn't she be there? She loved Lexi a ton, so of course she would support her. She didn't really know why she was purring one second and pushing her away with the next, but to be honest, it kind of hurt a little. She wanted to think that Lexi and her were the type of friends that told people stuff, you know?

When Mr. Octain arrived, Kimiko made an awkward 'o...' noise and looked immediately at Lexi. She knew they were talking about this sort of stuff, but she had to wonder if she was ready now.

Kimiko nudged Lexi's side, a sympathetic look on her features.

"Lexi, we can talk to him now or put it off, but it's really your choice..." she said, in a voice only loud enough for Lexi to hear.

Lexi

She looked at her father. Her eyes teared up a bit as she hid behind Kimiko for a moment. Gripping at her shirt as she looked at the ground. Gathering the courage to speak as she sighed. "D-Daddy.. I.. Want you to be happy but.." She started with. Then she slowly moved from behind Kimiko and walked up to Octain. Looking up to him as she spoke once more..

Her eyes had a burning question. She looked close her eyes as she gulped and looked at Kimiko for a moment and nodded her head before looking back at Octain. "Daddy.. Will I ever see my mommy again..? Why.. Do we look so different..?"

Octain;

He knew what was coming. Octain had foresaw this.. Just.. not with an Audience. He sighed heavily as he dropped down to his knees. Placing hands on her shoulder as he lightly spoke. "Genesis is very special to me.. I just don't know if the feeling is mutual.. I will find out one day. I just do not wish to lose her in my life regardless of what happens."

Then the question after. He looked at Kimiko for a moment. Closing his eyes as he took a deep breath. Lexi.. Had a right to know.. Had the right to ask. he didn't expect this to happen when she was so young and innocent. he didn't want to break her heart or how she viewed him. "You're mother.. Died a few years ago." what he said wasn't entirely false.. "I-.." He said then stopped himself. "You're mother was a great person. Showed me there was a lot to life than just ones self. I made a promise to her to keep you safe."

If Kimiko looked into his at all and was good at reading people. She would know that he was with holding something.. Was it for the greater good? Or was it going to be an issue...

Now, Kimiko's nose wasn't stronger than a normal person's, but you didn't need to be superpowered to smell that this was bullshit. Kimiko looked between the two Octaviuses and crossed her arms, giving Octain a very pointed look. It wasn't her room to pry. She knew. But she couldn't ignore how this thing was tearing Lexi up inside. Kimiko stood behind her like a guard on watch, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder, just in case she took that badly.

"Well. All righty, then," she said, unable to hide the sharpness in her voice. She really thought he was... Well. It just goes to show, huh. "I'm sorry you had to find out this way, Lexi. It sounds like that's all he wants to tell you." A brief pause. This wasn't about her, she knew. She sighed, replacing her bubbling anger with an optimistic smile, like she always did. For Lexi. "How are you holding up, princess?"
