It was cold evening as Hazel worked on her commissions. The sun was starting to set on the manor, a purple glow reflecting in the snow. It was pretty inspiring for the owl, which was great since she was in the middle of her commission work. There was still a bit of light in the sky, just a small hint of orange peeking through the clouds.

Sitting on her bed, Hazel watched the sunset, enjoying it and waiting. While she was working on a suit for someone, she had ran out of black silk, so she sent Haru to the store to get some. For now, she had a bit of time to do some thinking, which kind of stinks. After the cottage, she was certain Theron already got another girlfriend. So, now she spent her time avoiding the outside world, with a few exceptions here and there. The three Arlnest even had a little party for Hazel and Elizabeth's birthday. Nothing big, just a few drinks and some chitchat. It was nice. Though, there was that incident with the police right after the visit to the cottage...

The stoplight changed green as Haru pulled into the street of the Arlnest manor. Her employer, Hazel, saw fit to task her with the job of acquiring some silk for her dress work. Under normal circumstances, Haru would be pleased to do any and all to help the Arlnest family. However ever since the trouble with the police Haru has had a distaste in both herself and Hazel. She was the girl's bodyguard but also a guardian of sorts. The fact Hazel even got caught up with the police was enough to tick her a bit. The whole ordeal reminded her why she never had kids.

This little errand just felt like a way for Hazel to ignore the problem and avoid the scolding she rightfully deserved. The girl was smart but so quick to become an adult that it only hurts her. With a silent smooth stop, Haru parked the car in its appropriate spot with the other. She was dressed in her usual butler uniform and was sporting a black top hat today.

"That girl needs some direction...." she said softly as she paced towards Hazels room.

Three small knocks on the door in a small pattern followed as she adjusted the bag in her hands. Haru had told Hazel a few patterns she liked to use so she could know who was at her door. These three knocks were hers and she was in the process of trying to get the other staff to use the system also.

"Ms.Arlnest, I've returned" her tone was slightly aggressive, but more in the form of being overly tight as if she and Hazels weren't close in the slightest but simply employer and employee.

Hazel turned to the door, listening to the familiar knocks. She was about to hop off of her bed, but the tone that Haru had shook her. Her voice was strict, almost business like to Hazel. Why would Haru be like that with Hazel? After everything that the two have been through together, did it all mean nothing?

Was it because she was taken in by the police? Maybe. Hazel did explain that it was just a miscommunication. There was no reason for Haru to be mad at Hazel. Not at this point at least, right?

Shaking her head, Hazel wiped a tear away, walking over to the door. She grabbed here mp3 and headphones, quickly putting one ear bud in and playing a song. With that, she then opened the door.

"Hey Haru. Sorry, I was listening to music. Did you get the silk I needed?"

Looking down at the little girl Haru could notice a strange vibe between them. Hazel seemed just as business toned as her. Revealing the bag from her side she placed it on Hazel desk.

"There was no change but I have your receipt here madam" removing a glove Haru dug into her uniform pulling out a piece of paper and placing it with the silk. Haru glanced over the room.It was a force of habit for her to check her surroundings. Most of it was due to her life back on the farm but it had stuck with her all the way to the city.

Noticing a piece of clothing out on the bed she began to fold with cold and quiet demeanour about her. She had no anger or excitement she just seemed very complacent in how she moved since entering the room.

"Don't leave clothing out if you can. I know you have maids and butlers but keeping them happy makes for a better household" Haru finished folding and tuck the article of clothing in its appropriate drawer.

"So, I wish to discuss your actions over the past few weeks. Reflection can lead to advancement if done with that intention. You have been acting uncaringly ever since the mansion and now this deal with you rushing into danger seems to be a common occurrence. Is your breakup affecting you this much."

Haru ad kept her calm and collected tone but her purple eyes held the aggression and pressure of an animal hunting its prey. It wasn't her intention to scare her, but this was just a natural reaction that seemed to have grown over her years of scolding her siblings.

The air in the room was quite awkward as Hazel accepted her receipt and silk from Haru. Gods, she was not used to this at all. Traveling the world, learning about the magical and non magical creatures, easy. Dealing with a passive aggressive alien who's her maid, not so much.

Crossing her legs, Hazel floated in the air, watching Haru fold her shirt and lecture her about leaving clothes out. What gave her the right to do that? She wasn't Hazel's mother, just the maid. If Hazel wanted to leave her fucking shirt out, she had every right....

No, this wasn't Hazel, this was Hazel's anger at....Well, kind of everything. She took a deep breathe, regaining her composure a bit. Though calming down was gonna be a bit harder with Haru wanting to talk about her actions as of late. The worse part was probably the eyes. It was a bit overwhelming, but Hazel really didn't have anywhere to hide. This was her room, and Haru does her laundry.

She sank a bit in the air, obvious a bit nervous. "I haven't really rushed into a lot of danger. Just the whole demon fae girl, and then went down relatively well. And how would my breakup with Theron effect my attitude to jump into danger?"

Technically, the breakup isn't effecting her that much. So, she wasn't lying there at least... Ignoring the whole not going outside thing.

Hazel blew a breath of disappointment and looked away from Hazel for the second time scanning the room once. "If a person asks a question and you answer with another question is a way of dodging out of fear or working another angle. If your relationship has not messed with you why do you stay so sheltered in here." Haru made sure to open the shades to let as much light into the room as possible.

" You were trying to help the little girl, which for better or worse I can understand the feel. However, I raise the question of did you think about the situation as a whole. Did you simply rush to aid or did you plan for the future? My displeasure is less in your action and more in your laidback attitude to it all."

Haru turned back with her toothless smile with her eyes carrying the same if not more weight than earlier. Haru had done some stupid crap as a kid that would compare way worse to what Hazel has done, because but she had a person to direct her rambunctious attitude, and maybe that's just what Hazel needs.

" I only bring this to you because I care about you. I want to know that when I'm not around anymore you will think before, during, and after an action. Always have a plan, and if for some reason a plan is unavailable you should've foreseen that end and embraced the consequences that follow. This talk, for example, is a result of your lack of thinking.Yet all I see is a girl trapping herself in her room"

Haru continued her smile before finally breaking eye contact with Hazel and sitting herself down on Hazel's bed and looking out the window.

"So tell me little A'ya what are you thinking" she had a laughing almost regal demeanour in how she presented her question. The term A'ya was a word her mother used on her when she was a little girl, and she saw fit to pass the nickname on to Hazel.

Hazel bit her lip, listening to Haru talk. She nailed everything to a T. Which didn't surprise her, though Hazel was a bit surprised about herself. Mainly in her lack of forming a plan. Though, she never had a plan of action when it came to these things, really. Or anything, really. Whenever there was trouble, she just kind of ran in to everything. Like at the mansion when she regained her magic.

"No, I didn't really think the situation through in the alley. I've never really planned anything out, I guess. Most of the time, I had knew I could either handle it myself, really."

At this point, Hazel had seated herself onto the ground. She pulled her legs to her chest, hugging them. She also tilted her head, just enough so Haru couldn't see her eyes.

Haru sighed a long breath and got down to the floor with Hazel and just stared at her silently for a few minutes. Was this what having a kid was like? How her friend had six she could never understand at this rate.

Haru scooted over next to Hazel and wrapped her arm around her as motherly as she knew. " Don't ever claim to know the severity and level of any situation. The belief that you can do it all by yourself gets you or others hurt. Use what is presented in front of you to your advantage when you can and play every move to back the universe and its randomness into a corner until only your preferred outcome remains......at least that's what my dad said" She chuckled a bit at the end by the seriousness of what she said remained

She stroked Hazel's hair a bit and just stared at the bed for a few second dazing off into a dream about her life back home. Her life could of went many different ways but here she was comforting some little magician girl on earth. The randomness of the universe strikes again she thought.

"So tell me. Why are you shutting yourself in" she didnt make eye contact when asking her question.Instead, she just kept looking forward at the bed as if she was thinking of something in the back of her head.

Hazel shivered a bit as Haru petted her. She was right about Hazel doing it all by herself and that it's a bad thing. As per usual with Haru, really. Then she kind of phased out, leaving Hazel to phase out a bit. Up until Haru's question.

"Huh, what?" She shook her head a bit, looking up. Oh, should she really tell Haru...? Well, there's no reason to not tell her at this point. Plus, she basically knew anyway.

"Well, yeah, it'd be Theron. I don't regret breaking up with him, but in like two days, he had a new girlfriend. It's kind of insulting, knowing that I was easily replaced in less then a weeks time."

Haru made an audible hmm sound continuing to stare at the bed. She had a feeling it was the breakup, but what part about it she didn't know till now. Haru wasn't accustomed to this sort of teenage drama especially the earth variant so her ability to comfort felt limited even so....

" If he was able to find a girlfriend that fast then that is good for him. From what I observed Theron seems to crave attention and companionship. It is mostly a defence mechanism for something deeper. Even if I am wrong what Theron does should not concern you anymore. You are a good young lady and any person would be lucky to have you. Hiding away is unfair to yourself and the world. If he could trade girls so easily then it means you made the right choice in breaking up."

Haru dug up her sleeve and pulled out a knife. She twirled it in her hand before continuing on. " Plus in all honesty, I found Theron detestable. Smothering is always so....what do the humans use cringe, yes. It is cringy to me. Felt like every two seconds you kids were sucking face." Haru laughed a hardy laugh befroe spinning the blade in her hand again.

" Hopefully if you ever choose to date again it will be with a proper gentleman andnot some man looking to bury his problems in emotional companionship" Haru finished petting Hazel before standing up again.
