The sun was beginning to set on yet another day at the
Academy. Now, most folks at seeing dusk approaching would
be preparing to turn in for the night, but for a certain student...well,
things were just getting interesting.

Standing out in the courtyard, James made sure to look around
and ensure that nobody was here while he practiced what he set
out to do tonight. At seeing no souls around, he let out a sigh of
relief and pulled out a blue gem, holding it before him as a flash of
light and dark magic came forth to wrap around him and transform
him into his witch alter-ego.

Twirling a strand of long white hair, she summoned forth her double-ended staff, one end with the sun symbol, the other of the moon, and got to work on channeling the powers of the dark.

She focused intently as the shadows in the area grew ever stronger...and before long, something bubbled up from the depths. From the darkness rose up a series of living masses with eyes and tentacles and horns that prowled about the area.

With a flick of her wrist, several black fireballs formed in mid-air and she began moving them with simple hand gestures. The orbs spiraled around her before merging above her head into one larger orb of black fire with a pair of eyes in it. The creature floated down to be gently pat by the witch girl. If one listened closely, you could almost hear purring from within.

Next, the shadows along with the giant mass of black fire came together and formed into one giant mass that bubbled before extending a pair of wings out and gaining claws and a scaly body to it. Being one of her bigger creations meant the witch needed to focus quite a bit for this to work...

[ Le-kzen Ta'driz ]

After her talk with Lochlann in the picnic, Le-kzen considered their discussion about studying and came to the decision that she could probably handle dual majors, even if she had to take night classes. Le-kzen had just finished discussing things it with her Academic adviser. Next semester, she was going to be taking both Political Science and Magic Theory.

The talk went better than expected. She thought they would've asked for a demonstration of her magic, but all she had to do was arrange some paperwork.

As she was walking outside the school to go home and tell her brother the good news, she caught sight of an inhumanly beautiful woman... performing spells she could only dream of. Was she a teacher? She didn't know. But she wanted to know.

Jealousy and wounded pride pooled at the pit of her stomach, but she needed to ignore it if she was going to condescend herself to apprenticeship. The thin, sickly drow in a bright pastel pink dress approached the woman cautiously, with her hands pressing against her chest.

"Excuse me..." she said, her voice shy and soft. "Are you a mage of some sort, miss?"

James stopped herself at hearing the new voice and turned to
see the person who had spoken to her, "Huh? Oh sorry, I didn't
know there were still other people out at this hour," She lowered
her staff and wiped her brow, giving "her" hair a toss in the process.

"Me? A mage?" The witch glanced up to the massive shadow beast
as it looked down at her, as if waiting for a command. Finally, she
shrugged, "I suppose, yeah. Did you need something, miss?"

"People aren't often around at this hour," she said. "I was talking to my Academic adviser so I was around..."

She cleared her throat. Right. Back to the topic.

Le-kzen approached her shyly and bowed a bit. "My name is Le-kzen Tadriz. I'm a new student at the school and a hopeful destructive mage myself... b-but I'm not as good as you. If you don't mind, can I watch... whatever you're doing?"
