A late day at the Pier

It was a late night, not a whole lot of commotion going on. Most people had already packed up for the night if they weren't doing tying their boats down for the night. Then there was Hazel. Alone in a small rowboat tied to the dock, she lazed there, doodling on a notebook. The boat was light up well, making her noticeable from relatively close shore. She had a blanket on her as she laid down in the boat.

It had been a few days since the bonfire, and Hazel was still distraught about what she had seen. Going through the halls, all she could think about was her being a failure. Her teachers were probably disappointed with her, Elizabeth and Rowan probably were. Theron probably was disgusted in her, and her parents....No...

She shook her head, going back to her notebook. She was swamping herself with work. Homework, extra credit, and doing commissions. She'll either never have time to think about anything or die of exhaustion. Either or.

He walked down the pier, his spiky brown hair blowing in the wind, needless to say his own evening at the bonfire had raised more questions than answers, but that wasn't what was on his mind. He was worried about his girlfriend, he was worried about Hazel, she had seemed distant lately.

His nose twitched as he picked up a familiar scent, it was mixed in with the smell of the sea but there, it was Hazel. He followed the pier for a bit and then caught sight of her on a small boat out in the water.

He quickly found a small boat of his own and took it out, rowing toward Hazel, as he approached her he gave her a smile, "hey beautiful, what are you up to?"

Victor was alone that night when he finished weeding the flower garden, as was one of his tasks. Working as a part-time servant for the Arlnest trio, as he called the group of Elizabeth, Rowan, and Hazel, often lead him to have late nights in order to complete chores
He had no problem with it. With his power, he could sleep during classes without any noticing, and not fall behind.

When he had clocked off and was on his way home, he noticed a light on, though possibly near the lake. Being a night-time person, the Light peaked his interest. He decided to take a look and froze time, so he won't be late home.

It wasn't the smuggling scheme his sleep-deprived brain had envisioned, It was just Hazel and the Dragon guy. Victor had seen him before, but couldn't remember the name of. Theo? Tyrone? Either way, it was obvious Hazel was upset, and he was here to either harm her or cheer her up.

In the case of either, he chose to stay out of sight and downwind in case the guy had a good sense of smell. Then he unfroze time, to see what would happen.

Hazel looked up from the her notebook, rubbing her left eye. While she did suspect people to come and investigate, she really wasn't expecting on Theron to be showing up here. Guessed she underestimated his nose then. And his dedication.

She cleared her throat a little, making sure it wouldn't sound too rough and unintelligible.

"I'm doing fine right now. Just a little studying and a few commissions for some clothing that I'm sketching out right now."

He pulled up right next to her, leaning over he kissed her cheek, "your sketches are always really good," he decided to ease into talk about his concern for his girlfriend, he new she wasn't a bit talker and he was always ok with that.

He placed his hand on her shoulder giving her a light hug while making sure not to mess up her sketches or homework, "I didn't have any training with Trent today so I thought I'd come down and see the ocean," he smiled at her, "and looks like I was lucky enough to run into my awesome girlfriend," it was true, he thought she was amazing.

He looked at her, a bit of his concern showing through, "Hazel, I've been a bit worried about you," he kept his one arm around her shoulders, "you've seemed distant," once again this wasn't him complaining about her being quiet, he was ok with that.

Hazel shook a little, looking at Theron. She was a bit weary of Theron leaning into her boat. In fact, she could feel her boat tipping over a bit. To make matters worse, he had to go and bring Hazel being distant. He should have just said it in the first place, get it out right away.

"I'm doing fine, Theron. Don't worry. You should just focus on finals and the surgery coming up."

He settled back into his boat and looked at her, he cared about her a lot, she was an amazing person in his eyes and to see her like this bothered him, he wanted to help her.

"You know, for as long as I can remember, which as you know isn't very far back," he gave her a smile and little chuckle, "I felt out of place, like I just didn't belong, then I found out that I'm a magical reptile, and then I came here." He looked at her, "I met you and, well I didn't feel alone anymore, I felt like I belonged."

"I'm here if you need me, if you want to talk, you're not alone."

Hazel shrugged a little, going back to her notebook. She was almost done with the sketches, and she wanted to get them done before starting on the actual commissions. Plus, what else was she gonna say. Sure, she could talk to Theron, but he wouldn't understand. How could he understand, he never experienced loss before. Well, he may have in the past, but he couldn't remember. He was sweet though, and she didn't want him to worry.

"Thanks Theron. I appreciate it."

He looked at her, he couldn't help but worry, she was his girlfriend and he felt like he needed to be there for her. He ground his teeth a bit thinking about what to say, she had never told her anything about her past and he had no past to share.

So, he decided to tell her about what he saw, "do you think it's possible to miss something you don't remember ever having?" It was weird question, not matter how you look at it, his lack of memories had always bothered him, made him wonder if he was only half a person.

"I saw something at the bonfire....or rather someone..." he went silent a bit before continuing, "it was the spirit of a large dragon.....and when I got close to him...I felt something...and it took me a while to realize what it was that I felt." This wasn't easy for him to talk about, but if he wanted her to share then he felt like he needed to share first, "he was family, I don't remember who he was, or how he died, but he was family. All I know is that I lost him, but I just couldn't remember who he was."
