Serenity saw the now blocked path.
"James"
She whispered, pulling her horse to a stop behind his.
"I'm sorry I blew up your ship..."
With trying-not-to-shake hand, Serenity touched his shoulder, just to let him know she could, (and would), fight with him. It wouldn't take long, but Serenity didn't know if they had guns or not. All she knew about guns were that they can kill in one shot.

Danger dipped his head slightly in acknowledge of her apology. "Now's not really the time for apologies." he muttered to her, keeping his eyes on the four before them. And then a slow grin found it's way onto his face, as he got an idea. The four shifted uneasily at his grin.

Under his breath to her, so that only she could hear him, he said, "Do you think you could make my sword covered in flame? I'll bet that at a show of power, they'll leave without a fight." He moved his sword up and away from him as he awaited her reply.

Srenity nodded. Her hair turned a little towards the red side as Danger's sword let off a flash of light and burst into flame. The metal moved none, the flames weren't there to melt it, they were there to strike fear into the eyes of the men. Luckily, she only made it go from the metal, and not to the handle. Then, it would burn Danger. That was the last thing Serenity wanted.

He pulled Sally back a little bit, urging her to back up. He whispered to the horse in Italian, keeping her calm, as he held the now flaming sword above his head. "Now, come take your buddies and get out of here. I hear about you coming back, and you'll find out just how ruthless a pirate can be." he growled at the men, who had a great deal of fear in their eyes. Two of them dismounted, pulling their unconcious buddies onto their horses, all the while staring at Danger nervously, and galloped away without a second backwards glance.

He glanced back at Serenity once he was sure that they were gone. "Thanks..." he paused, feeling the need to reassure her that he wasn't actually a violent pirate, "The threat I made was an empty one." he said quietly, placing the sword back in it's place after she made the flames disapear from the blade. "And I forgive you for blowing up my ship. Had a history of mutiny anyways. Probably just made the world better." his words were low, almost tired, and he smiled lightly at her.

Serenity sighed in relief, looking down at the ground. She hopped she wouldn't have to go through that again. She was happy that he wasn't mad at her, and that they were friends again. She was happy that they had stopped the men. She was happy that he was happy with her.
She looked up at him and smild back at him.
"I... Thanks... Thank you alot, Ja-- Danger."

Danger looked over his shoulder at her, and grinned, making Sally sidestep to make room for Serenity and held the obediant horse there. "You know, I introduced myself as James to give you the choice. James is my real name. Danger's just a good discriptor." he remarked easily, the old Danger slowly coming back, though he was rather hungry now. And he'd lost a fair bit of weight since he'd seen her last. He was looking a little bit more rugged, what with him only eating when forced to. Since he knew so few people here, he wasn't forced often. He still offered him one of his old charming grins, which didn't happen often at the moment, unless he was truly at ease with himself. Such as he was when he was on a horse.

Serenity smiled and put her horse into a canter, only stopping to turn herself around to look at him.
"Well, James, we should get back to the academy. I don't want anymore danger-— I mean trouble."
While blushing, she giggled a bit.
"Do you want something to eat? You look as if you've been on a famine."
Looking him over, Serenity grinned and started into a trot again. She bit her lip. Danger had risked his own life to stop the men from getting to her. At least, if he had her skills, he would've died. She couldn't fight with a sword if her life depended on it, but she was quite skilled with a bow.

Danger flashed another of his more cocky grins, of which he figured that she knew was just the was he smiled, and not a reflection of his attitude. He made a clicking sound with his tongue, urging Sally on, and she broke into a nice trot. "Yeah, well, that happens sometimes. I've had worse though." he grinned easily, unselfconciously allowing her to look him over. Yup..that's Danger for you.

He glanced at her, and shook his hair into his eyes, looking at her from beneath the fringe. He watched as she bit her lip, and cocked his head, puppy-dog brown eyes making him look like a confused puppy. "Penny for your thoughts?" he asked in a half cheerful way, eyes dancing.

Serenity said nothing but smiled softly, rubbing Peace's head gently. She turned her head and looked at him, a blank expression on her face. A second later, she burst out laughing.
It was the first time in while Serenity had laughed this hard. She usually didn't talk much, but she was so care free now that she had a good friend. She was getting the hang of this riding thing, even though she still prefered flying.

Danger grinned at her, watching her laugh. He was surprised to find that her laughter was infectious, and he soon began laughing too, though he wasn't sure that he knew what he was laughing at. After a few minutes of laughing with Serenity, his laughing subsided. "Well I'll tell you mine. I'm thinking that you're going to get attacked by being friends with such a charming rogue as me." he flashed her his biggest, fakest conceited grin as he could, striking a pose. Then the grin went back to it's normal cocky quirk, though it was just the way his mouth rested. It felt good. Not that it was all Serenity, but he'd put the whole ship, dead Captain thing behind him, and the old Danger was coming back. It was nice. And especially nice to have a true friend to share it with.

Right then and there he resolved to do whatever was in his power to do to keep Serenity from harm's reach.
