How many days and nights has it been since Lynn have been deep within the forbidden forest?

What started out as a simple trip into the forest turned into something else; something more. Lynn originally set out to build Jone a nest since Jone’s wing was now mostly healed, he figured the bird could return back to nature. Lynn didn’t expect to be gone long so they didn’t tell anyone where they were going.

The first nest wasn’t so deep in the forest. It was simple and closer to civilization and it didn’t take long for Lynn to make it either.
Jone didn’t like it and wanted to go deeper into the forest.

Lynn ventured further until they found a nice spot by a nice little spring. Lynn spent all day building the nest to the size Jone wanted which was ridiculously big for a bird the size of Jone. It was tiring but also pretty fun building a nest. Though after a day they had an encounter with another Fae which caused Jone to question the safety of the nest.

So they were off again, venturing further and further into the forest. Lynn didn’t really pay attention how far or where they were even going. They just kept going and going, trying to find the perfect spot for Jone to live in. At this point Lynn’s phone had already died.

Flying perfectly just a bit over Lynn was Jone. The owl hovered over Lynn almost like a guardian….or in this case a father watching over his child.

Jone just kinda led Lynn lead the way for a bit until Lynn pointed out a few more trees that would make good nesting spots. Sure, they were good and sturdy trees but they weren’t the type of tree Jone was looking for. They did pass a few trees that were close to what Jone had in mind but there was also the matter of the location. It was evident that people still wondered these parts of the forest which wasn’t much to Jone’s personal preference; but Jone didn’t tell Lynn all that.

After what was...maybe a few hours? Jone decided to just take the lead and flew a bit ahead of Lynn but still staying close as to not leave Lynn completely behind. Jone knew exactly where to go but he decided to take the long scenic route.

He figured he’d let Lynn think he was just looking for a spot. Jone took his time to examine each and every tree they passed and insisted that the tree needed to be perfect and all the trees were missing that special feeling.

Jone was doing whatever it took to keep Lynn following him.

Lynn kinda lost track of time. In fact Lynn wasn't really sure what time it was but judging from the sky slowly getting more and more of an orange tint, Lynn assumed it was close to sunset if it already wasn't. Was it really that late already? It only felt like moments ago when they had left this morning to go build a nest....

Maybe it was time to return home...back to the dorms. Lynn glanced back to the way they had came, it would probably be night when she get back if they left now.

Jone landed on a branch that sat near Lynn and simply looked down at her, eyeing Lynn curiously.

"Do you really want to go back? Back to those dorms? Wouldn't it be better to just stay here?" Jone's words caused Lynn to feel conflicted. Did Lynn really want to go back? It was probably better to just sleep in the forest, it wasn't like Lynn had any problems with sleeping out here. Besides, it was just for one night.

"You are right, one night out here wouldn't hurt so let's just keep going then, Jone friend." It's only one night.

It's been about....three or four days now?

Jone was probably the only one actual keeping track on the time since Lynn didn't seem to bother. Jone had gotten up earlier in the day to work on the nest more while Lynn slept. It was easier for him to do things in his true form and the best time to do that was while Lynn was still asleep.

At this point the nest was technically done, well the base of it anyway. Jone convinced Lynn that they should make the nest something more than a nest, a place that they co- Lynn could come to whenever she wanted an escape from people. That's what Jone told Lynn anyways.

Jone went to go get breakfast....which was a bit of an annoying task. Lynn was being stubborn on not wanting to eat animals. It made things a bit more complicated but Jone wasn't going to force Lynn to eat meat. For now he just stuck with getting Lynn some fruit until he could convince Lynn that it was okay for her to eat meat, she is a predator after all.

There was a lot of things Jone needed to convince Lynn of. It was easier to do out here away from people and away from any of Lynn's "friends". No school, no job, no people. Just Jone, Lynn, and the forest. He doubt anyone was looking for Lynn anyway, the school wouldn't shouldn't be anyway since Lynn decided to unenroll....or was that Jone who did that?

Jone returned with some food for Lynn and a few dead rabbits for himself. He avoided waking Lynn up solely because he wanted to work a bit more on the nest....treehouse? It was faster if he did it in this form than his owl form.

Things were going excellently.

Being in the forest for almost a week made Lynn realized how much they missed it. It was just so freeing and relaxing. Sure taking trips to the forest every now and then to wander around in was great but actually just staying in the forest? It was just-. . .it just. . .felt right. Especially since Lynn was considering to be a forest ranger. How long has it been since Lynn left the magnificent forests of Asgard? It will be a year in a couple of days right? A year. Was it really almost a year? It didn't feel that long to Lynn....

Lynn was glad they left though. Loki really was nothing more than an asshole and the other gods weren't as nice either. Though now Lynn knew why and it just made them feel.....Angry. Cheated. Wronged.
Out here though, they felt happy and calm. They didn't have to worry about Loki's bullshit anymore, they were done with it. Lynn didn't have to worry about what was going on with Hella, Destra, or any other of their friends.
It was like all those worries seemed to just fade away.

And as Kon and Jone said, they shouldn't be ashamed for what they looked like.
There was no need for hiding it, there is no need for a human shaped charm out here.

Was there ever a need?

It was in the dead of the night and Jone was impressed, two weeks. It took him...and Lynn two weeks to finally finish the nest. It was perfect and beautiful and everything Jone wanted but....

It wasn't the real thing. It wasn't The Castle of Woven Branches. This was just a cheap knock off hidden up in some tree- actually maybe this was better? He made this with Lynn, his one and only child. That meant something right? The nest was finished, the owls also seemed to be moving themselves in already too. All what was left to do was wake Lynn up and get them to play a song.
The song of fireflies.

Jone shifted into his owl form before he woke Lynn up. Lynn was a bit groggy of course but after a few moments they were fully awake.

"Lynn the nest just needs one more thing for it to be finished. We need the fireflies!" Lynn looked....really puzzled at first. Fireflies? Why does the nest need fireflies? Lynn then frowned after realizing what Jone was asking of them.
It was to summon Fygg wasn't it?

How long has it been since Lynn summoned Fygg? It's been way over a month....a month since Lynn learned the truth from Loki. Ever since then Lynn avoided playing the Fygg. Fygg wasn't a gift from Loki because he liked Lynn's music....it was a weapon from Ebonyridge that Loki stole but couldn't use himself.
"I um...sorry Jone. I not sure if that's a good idea...."

Jone was....getting annoyed but he was trying to remain patient amd calm. How do you parent while not trying to be a parent? Jone flew over to Lynn and landed on their shoulder and then nugded their head against Lynn.
"Why? It's because of this Loki god? Are you going to just let him ruin music for you forever?"

"N-no...but it's not just him. Fygg is...it's Ebonyridge Magic. They hurt Hella...caused her so much pain. I don't want to use something created by them....what if..."

Jone was....huh. Not sure how to properly handle this. Those parenting books he read didn't cover this shit. "Lynn just because they are bad doesn't make Fygg bad. You aren't them. You are better than them and you should show Hella, Destra, Loki, and anyone else who would dare to think otherwise!"

Lynn chuckled a bit and patted Jone on the head. Maybe Jone was right....he always seemed right but, Lynn still wasn't so sure. They weren't even sure if they could still summon Fygg....that wouldn't be so bad either?
Lynn decided that they should just do it this one time only. So they summoned Fygg and well; Fygg came. Guess that means they was still the chosen wielder...
"Just this once Jone...."

"Yes. Just this once."
