Mimosa walked up the stairs of the tower, unaware that she was being followed. SHe had come to be alone, and to gaze across the property. She stopped at the window, resting her elbows on the ledge.
That's when Ross showed up. "Hello, Miss Mimosa," he said in a husky voice.
She had felt his prescence a split second before she heard him, so she didn't bother to react. Or say anything.
He walked up beside her, and rested his elbows on the ledge next to her. She looked breifly at his arms, then stright forward.
"Listen, Mimosa, I know I seemed...odd when we met, but, I don't know, I really feel a deep connection with you. I don't know anything about love, really, and I don't pretend to. But I really feel like we're..." he smiled. "Wow. I really don't know how to put this."
Any other girl would have swooned. Any other girl would have melted into his arms. Mimosa had met this guy once when they wtalked, but she'd seen him around, and he'd always smiled. That didn't stop her empathic powers.
She knew he was trying hard. He was working a power of some sort. He was reading her, and she knew he was desiring her. She also knew he really cared...
She turned to him. "Ross, I'm not interested."
He was fruistrated, and he stood upn stright. "Why not? Why won't you even consider me?"
She looked across the land again. "I've been hurt, Ross. My boyfriend could be dead, and I don't know. He was severely wounded, and they took him to the family hospital. I can't visit." She'd said it so much, she no longer cried. It was no less painful, however.
He looked away briefly, then back at her. She finally looked right into his eyes. "Mimosa, I'm sorry...but, I know you're ready to move on. Please." When she was still silent, he continued. "You know what my power is? I can see someone's deepest desires. And I know yours is to be loved again the way he loved you."
With that, he walked back down the stairs, leaving Mimosa to her enjoyable solitude.
