It had taken some time, and a lot of experimentation. It wasn’t easy to find similar, equivalent ingredients in an entirely different dimension--but it was possible. And the final ingredient she needed, perhaps the most important, was closer than she thought. Her own scales, ground into a fine powder, was the final piece. It was no surprise Laila would willingly give a piece of herself if it meant helping the Arore sisters—even now that they were all adults and she was no longer their caregiver. The scale was no big deal though—one scale, crushed into a fine powder, was more than enough for several bottles. The scale would grow back by the time she needed to make more.

Laila had spent a lot of time trying to recreate the potion she had so heavily relied on back in her home dimension—the Full Moon Suppression Potion. It allowed Lamia to avoid the effects of the full moon, and without it, Laila would not have been nearly as useful as the caregiver to the Arores. She could not waste her time with the pursuit of males.

Laila had experienced the full moon twice now. It was…dreadful. She was unstable and out of control. She despised it. She prided herself in her calm, peaceful demeanor—of being in control.

She had experimented on herself during the last full moon, drinking a bit of the concoction. It had worked, leaving her fully in control and with no noticeable side effects other than some dizziness. She declared it safe enough for her girls.

Rana had already made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with the potion, but the rest of the sisters had expressed an interest. Chi was first in line, desperate to not feel that unnatural attraction to men she otherwise did not experience at all.

“Mama, why are you so amazing?” Chi asked as she hugged Laila tight, the potion bottle in her hand. It was the first time she had really seen Chi smile in a while—things were a bit complicated at the moment. The two had moved into Rolden’s mansion after the whole mess, and spent much of their time together.

“The others should be around to pick up their bottles soon,” Chi then said as she checked her phone, having contacted her sisters earlier that day. She let them know they could come right in—that Laila and Chi would be waiting in the kitchen. Except for Rana, who decided to be weird and continue to act insane during the full moon. Whatever, thought Chi.

Laila had the bottles out on the table in the kitchen, as the two of them waited for the others to come. Chi, feeling a bit brighter, was chatting away while Laila listened intently, as she always did.

Khali's first reaction on hearing about the potion being made that could stop the moon madness had almost been to refuse. She too had felt the drive, but the state of her powers back home had meant she'd killed every mate, or at least sickened them enough that they were unable to satisfy her. Here even without the power bracelet she'd been given, her powers were dim enough that she could safely do what her nature called her to do. Of course she could do that at anytime, but her heart belonged to her twin, and the full moon was the only time her grief wasn't nearly overwhelming.

That was another reason she'd considered not taking this potion. As well as why she was here anyway. She missed her twin deperately, and even though it hurt, she didn't want to forget her even that much. Besides, she might get pregnant. She didn't want a child when she was so empty inside.

She hadn't explained any of that to her sister. She'd just said no, then called back to say yes. Everyone was used to her hasty decisions by now.

Actually, she felt a little nervous as she slithered into the room, constantly reaching for a hand that wasn't there. Khali had been so inseparable from her twin that she'd never really built much of a relationship with any of her other sisters, even Chi who'd practically grown up with her, they were so close in age. And Laila, the closest thing to a mother they had. She'd never been around any of them without her twin by her side for their own safety. The loss - she just stood there speechless, so different from the firecracker they'd be used to, her aloneness the only statement she needed.

There was no reason for Samara to be nervous meeting Khali, Chi, and Laila. They'd never been cruel to her about any of her oddities, but her chest was still tight when she approached Roldan's home and slithered inside to the kitchen.

She moved stealthily for such a large snake, low to the ground as she always was. She rose once she was near the counter and reached out for one of the potions. Her mind was on the potions alone right now. It was all she could do to control her excitement.

The full moons had always been awful for Samara. She'd never liked being drugged, and so she'd refused the offer every time. Back home she'd locked herself away, just as she did here.

It had gotten to the point that many of her sisters believed she was committing some atrocities, rituals, or hexes. Samara had never bothered to correct them. Let the small-minded believe what they would. Her appearance and her mother's shame had always been a thorn in her side.

But not here. Things were different here and Samra would and could thrive.

"So these are the potions...?"

Laila gave a sympathetic smile to Khali as she slithered into the kitchen. This was the first time she had ever seen Khali without Siba by her side. That empty space by her side, that loneliness. It broke Laila’s heart. Laila picked up one of the potions, wrapped up in a pouch, and approached Khali. She placed the pouch in her hand, and then pressed a kiss to her cheek.

“Hello, sweetie,” Laila said to Khali, lightly stroking her hair. She gave Khali a soft smile—sympathetic, wanting to say so much…but, perhaps it was best to wait until they could be alone.

Chi wasn’t sure how to feel, seeing Khali. She was never very close to either of the twins, because they always seemed so into each other that they didn’t really care about any of their other sisters.

Now Samara, who came in a bit after, was a sister she felt more of a bond to. Sam was a bit private herself, but Chi had always liked her. Sam had a dark reputation back home, but Chi was never convinced that Sammy was all doom and gloom like others tried to claim. Chi always tried to show her a little bit of extra affection, in an attempt to combat all that nonsense.

“Sammy~!” Chi went to nearly hug Sammy, but Laila intercepted, asking Chi to grab something for her. Fortunately, Chi was easily distracted and forgot about hugging Sammy pretty quickly. Laila shot Sammy a wink.

“Yes, so the potion…” Laila explained. “Three drops in a glass of water before the full moon is all you need. The bottle should last a long while, and I will prepare more when needed. I also included the directions on a small card in the pouches, in case you need it.”
