Now, the best thing about Starlight Academy was the distance it was from the city. A person had to walk through some form of forest before they got there. Jett was a natural born predator. He'd been that way since birth and never knew there was any other way to be. It had never occurred to the Skinwalker that his way of thinking was abnormal, at least, when he was a child. Now he knew better. He just didn't care.
While some people may have thought Jett arrogant and stupid enough to search Versa out in midday, he'd never have done that. The best things happened in the dark, after all. So he waited, unsure if she lived on campus or not, but that was okay, she had to go to the city at some point, and any real hunter was patient. Patient, quiet, watchful. For the next few days, that's what Jett was. He wanted to know Versa's schedule; he wanted to know her. Walk in her shoes. Feel what it was to be her.
The third time he'd found her alone at the outskirts of Starlight, that was when he went to grab her and pull her into the cover of the trees. Full disclosure, Jett himself wasn't always sure what he planned on doing. Right now he did, though, he planned on talking. Grabbing and talking to someone wasn't as rare as most people would have believed. He wasn't always a cold-blooded killer, only usually.

Versailles's ears twitched, as if in response to a sudden sharp sound, but she highly doubted anything was there. For all she knew, it was some lost soul wandering the school grounds trying to talk to her. There was always a day when she felt watched, but it hadn't been quite this strong since her first month at the academy, when nearly everyone would at least glance up at her. A human girl with two pairs of ears and couldn't hear. It wasn't the strangest thing any of them had seen, but Versailles probably attracted attention to herself by how hard she tried to hide them.
It wasn't any less stressful to be watched when she was hiding the human part of her. She'd had enough studying done for today, and it was a decent night. There wasn't anything to fear on campus, so she never thought twice about walking around the outskirts of the forest. Versailles probably should have payed more attention to her ears.

Jett yawned and paced a second, not too far. He had to be ready in case she started screaming and running. Some of them did that. "But I'm not here to talk pleasantries."
Versailles pushed away from Jett, leaning against a tree to catch her breath. What had Jett been thinking? Kidnapping was entirely unnecessary and she attempted to convey that to him, but he started talking. Oh joy. He was going to become a movie villian stereotype now wasn't he.
She kept her back pressed against the tree, just in case he was planning to attack her.
"I'm rather suprised you came all this way just to see me. It must be important if you've brought me all the way out here. The back corner of the library next to the encyclopedias is secluded enough for talking privately."

"I have to ask. What the fuck is your problem? I thought I was pretty fair with the whole clown thing. I didn't even really kill anyone -- well, except the animals. I killed those."
Versailles met Jett's eyes, trying to keep a calm gaze. If he was here to threaten her, she didn't want to seem weak. She knew her fear would still show through, she'd never really learned how to control it well.
"You kidnap me just because I told you I was busy? How do Toby and JeJe get anything done around you? You really could have just showed up anyways."
Her ears twitched agian, probably to signify that a bird had been flying overhead. Silence with Jett was never awkward. It was eerie.
"There's a difference between watching a horror movie and being in one without knowing it was just an act. No, you didn't kill anyone, but you tried to kill both of your friends and terrified me. I don't see how you expected me to be very fond of you after that."

Jett didn't so much care whether Versa was fond of him or not. It was the principle of the matter. He didn't like being brushed off or ignored. Jett didn't like a lot of things. He puffed out one cheek, thoughtful, and then leaned against the tree beside her. "Shoot. Do your worst. Don't hold back. I promise I won't even get mad."
Versailles turned away, digging the tips of her fingers into her temples. What is it with people and always asking the entirety of her classes to 'evaluate' them. It was only her second year of classes, and it wasn't even all of the regular classes.
"That is not how psychiatry works. I barely know you, and I can't exactly see you well at night. What are you expecting me to pick up? I'm not a psychic Jett. Psychoanalysis isn't easy to begin with and rarely correct. Half of it is usually guess and check anyways. You're welcome to tell me your life story? I'm sure I could give you several diagnoses from that."
Versailles groaned, turning back to Jett and standing very close to him. She wasn't going to back down from a challenge of that level.
"Just by the fact that you showed up here, I know that you're arrogant and usually driven by emotion. You can't stand being less important than something. Your psychopathic tendencies are a learned behavior, as are Toby's, more than likely. Happy now?"

Truthfully, Jett wasn't challenging her. Why would he? What could he want from her that he didn't already have or couldn't already take? He didn't need to prove himself to her, either, so there was no motivation there. Sometimes, he just did things because he was bored. He needed the stimulation of it all.
"Another question, are you stupid or are you smart? I'm struggling to find out."
Versailles's tail bristled, her ears twitching constantly and betraying her emotions. Obviously Jett hadn't brought her out here to scare her, or he'd have done it by now. There was no point in being angry with him though. He was like a child, with his petty motives. Versailles closed her eyes, breathing slowly to calm herself down.
"That's a very vague question, but your answer is neither. Humans don't have the ability to be both empathetic and intelligent at either extremes at the same time. You can either be detached from emotions and one of the smartest people on the planet, or you can be highly empathetic to the point where you know what a person is thinking by looking at them. I keep trying to balance my perspective."
